Lake City Log Cabin

Bedrooms 3
Space 2,500 sq ft
Property type house
Minimum Stay 4 nights

About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8-10)

Tucked in the trees on a mountainside on the outskirts of Lake City, you will find the perfect log cabin for your summer or winter get-away. It is close to the heart of Lake City, but is secluded on 1 1/2 acres, and is bordered by BLM forests. The south facing home has beautiful views of the San Juan Mountains surrounding the town. Relax in the sunroom, which runs the length of the home, or in the picnic area in front -- and enjoy the unobstructed views of T Mountain and Roundtop, or of Lake City just below and across the river.

You can easily walk into town, crossing the river on the walking bridge, to enjoy shopping in the various shops, or eating ice cream at the soda shop. Lake San Cristobal, the 2nd largest natural lake in Colorado, is a short 10 minute drive down Hwy. 149. The area is famous for great fishing, with plenty of lakes, rivers and streams for you to find your very own private fishing hole. And you are within a mile of the Alpine Loop--your gateway to ATVing, sightseeing, picnicing, hiking or biking.

The house itself is 2400 sq. ft. and provides 3 large bedrooms and 2 baths. The fully equipped kitchen has all the conveniences of home, and the large dining room has a table which extends for large groups. The sun room is a great place to enjoy meals also, and to watch the deer which often visit just outside the windows. Across the driveway you'll find a large grassy picnic area with a picnic table and firepit stocked with firewood. In the evening kids of all ages can stoke up a fire for those hot dogs and smores---and when the sun goes down, warm themselves by the fire and marvel at the millions of stars in the heavens.

When you come for a visit on this forested mountainside, we can guarantee you'll wish you had planned to stay longer ! ! !

Guestbook comments from the owner

Just a note to let you know that we thoroughly enjoyed your home last week. Your managers, the Olsons, were very kind. The storage was wonderful. The space worked very well and I was so happy to see gas cooking. The kids had plenty of space outside to play and picnic. Everyone enjoyed their time there. Thank you again for letting us borrow your home!

Great place to stay! Located just outside of town but you feel secluded. House is comfortable and spacious with some great views.

Great Place

  • 5 of 5

Great Location, clean and accessible. Very good communication with the owners and the cleaning staff. My family has stayed here several time over the last few years. I would recommend this property if you are staying in the Lake City, Colorado area. (especially if you are riding off-road vehicles) I will rent this place again!

Loved our stay!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 5, spanning 3 generations, spent 10 wonderful days in this house and loved every minute of it! The Dewalt's house is beautiful, comfortable, spacious, very clean and well-equipped. Even though it is close to town, it is set up on a hill overlooking the valley and gave us the feeling of being away from it all. It is far enough away from the highway so that you don't hear the traffic - the quiet is delightful! We made good use of the spacious firepit area with a campfire every night of our stay. We even watched the 4th of July fireworks display from our private perch above the valley and all agreed it was the best viewing spot ever! I highly recommend this house and hope to return here again.

Wonderful home! Plenty of room for all 8 of us. Great location-close to everything in town! We were visited by 2 deer each evening as we sat by the fire pit.

A wonderful place to stay in Lake City

  • 5 of 5

This was our third stay in this cabin and we have loved it each time. There were seven of us including three grandchildren ages 5,8, and 10. This cabin accommodates us very comfortably and is tucked away quietly on a hillside overlooking Lake City. It has wonderful views and is a very quiet and private place to stay. Also, it is a wonderful place for our children to play. It's within easy walking distance to town along the river trail. The cable TV and wireless were very good. Plus, it is well maintained and clean. Also, we appreciated the access to the double-car garage for our bikes and stuff. We definitely plan on returning next summer!

Perfect Mountain Getaway

  • 5 of 5

A great place for family with children or not. Lots of room with great sunroom. Outside was a very good place for a fire with wood provided. Deer came in every evening for our viewing pleasure. This property is at the edge of town and backs up to national forest. Close to everything in town. I highly recommend this place.
