Two completely renovated houses that easily accommodates 18 people. It has two Queen sleeper couches one in each house. You will not find comparable amenities anywhere on the island!
Ornate 20 x 40 inground pool, regulation sand volleyball court, and children's playground. Two screened porches access to several barbecue grills. Walk to the beach, lounge by the pool, or host your next event ...The Compund is loads of fun to host any celebration.
We stayed in both houses for a family wedding in April and had no trouble accomodating all 18 family members who came. The Compound was perfect for the wide range of the kid's ages (20 months to 16) with the pool, playset and open lawn-room enough for all to run around, throw the frisbee and take a dip. We used the larger house as the main gathering space and were easily accomodated between the living room, large screened porch and poolside seating. The porch of the 3 bedroom house provided an escape for anyone who wanted a more quiet, private space. The location was perfect, though not directly on the beach, the public access was an easy 2-3 block walk, next to the King and Prince Hotel. We also walked to Crab Daddy's and the Crab Trap for dinner and were a short drive (5-10 min) to the grocery store and/or the Pier and other St. Simons attractions. Debi could not have been more personable or easier to work with-from my initial inquiry to checkout and was very timely and accomodating in her responses to my questions and requests. The houses are not fancy-but then who needs fancy when you are at the beach tracking in sand? Both homes had laundry facilities amd were comfortable and well-stocked with linens, towels and plenty of plates, glasses, silverware, and pots and pans. My one suggestion would be to supply a few more hangars in each closet and larger dresser space in the queen bedroon in the 4 bdrm house. I would definitely come back to this property with my family on my next trip to the beach and wish we had been able to stay longer.
Debi was great to work with, thanks so much for making the trip great
We stayed for a week in both locations. The outside area was wonderful. Volleyball court was great. Pool was very nice - deep in the middle for adults and jumping with shallow spots on both ends for kids. Inside of both houses need updating. TV could be bigger for those cold nights. Somewhat clean, but hey you are on vacation. Beach is a good walk from the homes. Overall, we might be coming back in future.
Must rent both houses to make it worth while. Also, apparently there is a 3rd house that was not brought to our attention after renting so we did have another family at the pool for a day. Also, one of the bedrooms did not have 2 twins but one king.
Property manager was very nice and when we needed something, so made sure we had it brought right over.
Enjoy a day on the beach, kayaking, paddleboarding, or schedule a charter at Morningstar Marina. Spend the day strolling the shops in Redfern Village, plenty of great antiques and restaurants. For the outdoor types, rent a bike from Ocean Motion and tour the island. Take a day trip to Sapelo, Cumberland or Little Saint Simons Island...or any of the surrounding Barrier Islands. There is a history of preserved beaches and untouched shores all around us!
