A jewel of a place

  • 5 of 5

Loved the cabin, loved the location. The coziness was wonderful, very quiet area, lovely views. The beds where wonderful , the fireplace-stove added such an awesome touch. Definitely a jewel in the woods. Annie was very thoughtful in leaving books highlighting the story of the area and important people- very interesting, as we toured the park we would go back and read about events. One day we decided just to stay in and soak the cabin and the location. Loved it.

Owner's Response: We are very glad you enjoyed the Meadow Woods Home as, indeed, it is a very special place and we are happy to share it with people who appreciate its location and enjoyable cabin feel. You’ve had a true Yosemite experience! The books of natural and human history have been collected over the years and it’s great that you enjoyed learning about Yosemite as there are many aspects to Yosemite besides just the beautiful views. Please return sometime!

This is our second time staying at a house in Foresta. The distance to the Yosemite Valley is a plus, making Forest a great place to stay while visiting the park. Especially if you intend to focus on the Valley, Hetch Hetchy, and/or Toulemene Meadows.

However, the area around the house offered some hiking opportunities to falls that were devoid of people!

We knew the kitchen was not large, so we planned any meals we were making with that in mind. Simple and easy to prepare. We also planned to eat dinner in the Valley, Fish Camp, or Wawona, after our adventures in those areas. We did stop in Oakdale to stock up on groceries (bring insulated bags) and picked up a few things druing the week in the Valley. Make sure you plan your meals.

The water pressure was low in the bath and there is no cell reception, but the house does have wi-fi access.

As I mentioned, this is the second time we stayed in Foresta. The first time was in 2006 at another property with the same owners. Both times we had a great experience.

Wonderful House for visiting Yosemite National Park

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in the Meadow Woods home from August 1st through 9th of 2015. The location is great with easy access to all parts of Yosemite National Park. If at all possible try to arrive at the house in daylight when approaching, at least the first time. The house is nice and we particularly enjoyed sitting out on the deck for a meal or just relaxing. If you are going to stay here don’t buy any Yosemite Guide Books because the house has all of the good ones. The kitchen also has the little things you might forget to bring, salt, pepper, paper towels, etc. Annie’s tip to stop at the Raley’s supermarket in Oakhurst California if you are coming for the south was a good one. The only store nearby is in Yosemite Village and it is more of a convenience store than a super market. The WIFI is adequate for e-mail and web surfing, but not for streaming movies. There was a problem with WIFI while we were at the house and Annie helped resolve the issue quickly. We loved our trip to Yosemite and the house added to the experience. We can recommend staying here.

Wonderful Cabin; Excellent Location

  • 5 of 5

Meadow Wood is a wonderful cabin located on an beautiful, forested island amongst the burnt forests in Foresta. Absolutely beautiful in the spring, with a variety of wild flowers and in close proximity to Yosemite Valley. The property was clean and had all of the amenities for a great family vacation - a good sized kitchen, picnic table and deck, gas BBQ and was well-supplied with wood for the wood stove.

The cabin location is within hiking distance of a little-known waterfall and good fly-fishing creek, with great roads for mountain biking and equally great views of Yosemite Valley across the highway.

Warm, homey and perfect!!

  • 5 of 5

When I walked into this wonderful cabin/home, I realized that it was exactly what I was looking for and more. My husband, adult son and I stayed for 3 nights. The first thing that I saw was a hand written welcome note from Annie and Rick, giving us extra tips about the house and the area. The home has the feel of a cabin, with all of the modern conveniences. The kitchen and living room are one big open area. The beds were very comfortable, with plenty of extra blankets, if needed. The heat was great and easy to turn on/adjust. The TV worked well. There were plenty of towels and we did some of our wash. The washer and dryer were easy to use. The house has a lot of personal touches to make it feel homey. Annie is an artist and her beautiful paintings of the Yosemite area, decorate the house. Annie and Rick left a notebook with info about the house and lots of info about Yosemite; places to visit, maps, etc. They also have a variety of books about Yosemite and the area, with history and pictures. They were interesting and helpful to us. The house was easy to find, with excellent directions, and although there are other houses in the area, it feels very private. We cooked on the BBQ grill on the deck and made breakfasts at the house. The kitchen was well supplied with pots, pans, nice dishes, cups, silverware, coffee, tea, spices and etc. The house is pretty central to many areas in Yosemite. We drove to visitor's Centers and took the shuttle to areas that we wanted to see. The house was as pictured in the rental listing and better! The house was very clean and obviously well maintained. The yard area had been raked, while leaving a natural setting. Although we didn't have a need to call Annie and Rick, I would have felt perfectly comfortable doing so. Renting the property was easy. We also walked around the property, watching a sunrise from a little hill in the yard area, while deer bounded by. I would highly recommend the property to family and friends, and hope to go back someday myself. If you love the feel of a private, beautiful cabin in the woods, you will love this place!!
