Beautiful location & relaxing atmosphere
We stayed at this property along with 3 other couples in October, 2019. The cabin is on a smaller, beautiful and quiet lake.
Although the weather wasn't perfect, we were able to get out for a paddle, put together a puzzle, and warmed our toes by the fire. We really loved the wood fireplace in the great room. Each morning, we made breakfast and enjoyed coffee with a little Norah Jones playing and it was the most relaxing sensation!
Communication with the property owner was outstanding and the instructions were easy to follow. We forgot a couple belongings and he was extremely helpful in returning them to us.
Thank you to Calvin and his family for allowing us to enjoy their wonderful property!
Fantastic lake vacation
We had a fantastic Labor Day weekend stay here. Calvin was very quick to respond to all questions and the place was absolutely perfect. One of the nicest places we've ever stayed. Beautiful views from the home and decks. Lots of places to sit and socialize. Very large screen porch. Both the lower level pool table and the hot tub saw daily use. Everything as stated in the listing - and even better! We rented a pontoon from the Main Store (just google it cause VRBO does not allow URLs in reviews) which was delivered to us at the public landing and loved that, too. We will definitely go back - hopefully for a longer stay. Very happy we found this lovely lake home!
Perfect family vacation
Our family group of 9 enjoyed every amenity and every minute of our time in this well-appointed and comfortable cabin. We paddled, swam, hot tubbed, played cards on the screen porch, grilled out, sat on the dock and explored the lake and channel by boat. We watched meteor showers, eagles, herons, moonrises - such peace and beauty each day. Having the whole lower level with the pool table and tv as the kids floor was perfect. Our hosts were amazingly responsive and friendly, and we hope to return!
Loved this week!
Our week was wonderful! The cabin was great; the lake was fabulous. We slept soundly and played hard every day. Fishing, kayaking, swimming, hiking, etc. were just a few things that kept us happy all week. Book this cabin with no worries or regrets! We will be back to this location!
Hopefully repeat next year. Wonderful cabin for multi generation vacation
We really enjoyed our week on Middle McKenzie Lake near Spooner. We vacationed with our two adult children, spouses and grandkids. Every family had their own level with it's own bathroom. The kitchen was well furnished with an open area design to a dining area & Family room. The screened in porch was great to be able to sit outside in the morning listening to loons and enjoying your coffee while the rest of the family slept. Since it's multi level you'll want to bring gates if your children aren't comfortable with stairs. (2 or 4 gates) . We rented a pontoon boat from the Main Store in Webb Lake. The dock was big enough for it, a fishing boat my son in law brought and the owners pontoon boat. The kids can wade near the shore at the dock to catch minnows. We didn't take advantage of the kayaks. canoes, or paddle boat that were furnished with the rental. Once the kids are older, I'm sure we will. We also brought a blow up kiddie pool and there is a flat area near the garage which worked well for it. It's near A&H store (approx 2 miles) which is handy for ice or items that you've forgotten. This is our 2nd year on Middle McKenzie lake and the fishing was great again. Lot's of sunnies, quite a few bass, we're still looking for the walleye. Our daughter caught a 5 LB bass off the dock that's waiting for us to catch again next year. Lots of good fishing from the dock for the grandkids. Nice firepit area for smore's, nature walks finding little frogs and monarch caterpillars and butterflies. We didn't make much use of the hot tub, but plan to as the kids get older. There are stairs, but not bad to the main flow and to the lake. My 85 year old father in law would have had problems with them, but no problem for us for hopefully quite a few years. Nice Weber gas grill, several restaurants close by. Shell lake (about 30 minutes wau ) has a wonderful sand beach that's great for sand castles and an afternoon trip. Calvin very responsive to questions. About a mile away there is a little place that sells pottery & honey on county road E (open weekends) Kids got a great tour of the bee hives. recommend you visit. AT&T and Verizon got phone service for hot spots. Four year old granddaughter was asking when we could come back. I think we will be back.
