The 'Bon Fir Cabin' is a beautifully restored 1930's cabin located in the foothills of Mount Hood. It is just 43 Miles from the Portland airport, less than a mile from the Mount Hood Wilderness Area, and a three minute walk from the Zig Zag River. The original native fir floors, cedar siding and vaulted ceiling throughout help it retain it's historic charm. The cabin is fully equipped with a modernized kitchen, cozy wood stove, a queen bed, and a four person hot tub. The Bon Fir sits on a large wooded lot with plenty of room to relax.
The cabin has only one bedroom with a queen bed. The bathroom has a full-size front loading washer and dryer, and an antique clawfoot tub with a shower. The four person jetted hot tub is built into the deck to soak your bones after a long day of fun.
This VRBO partner has demonstrated and is committed to fast response times, the best rates, and a great guest experience.
I was born in Oregon and I like all kinds of outdoor activities. I hike, bike, surf, run, rock climb, ski, fish, raft, and camp. I write and play music. Nothing is better than great friends, great beer, and great food. I live in Portland, Oregon. Other than managing cabins, I work full time as an electrical engineer at Intel designing the worlds most advanced computer chips. I'm involved in several community gardens in NE Portland.
Martin purchased this cabin in 2008
I bought this cabin because I wanted a place close to Mount Hood and I love the outdoors. As soon as I walked inside I fell in love. The dark wood paneling and the vaulted cedar ceilings give the cabin a beautiful historic feel. The deck is huge and the hot tub is a great bonus.
I like to get a fire blazing in the wood stove and play games with friends. The tall trees and large lot give a sense of space that contrasts with my otherwise urban life. I like to play old records on the record player.
What Gin? Looked all over to no avail. Wonderful time away,
thank you for making such a lovely retreat. We had great
dinners, relaxing soaks and many hours curled up on the sofa
reading. We cant wait to return.
This was our second winter stay at Bon Fir, and we loved it as much the second time around. It is just cozy and perfect for two. A fire in the wood stove, records on the turntable, perfection. The hot tub felt great after a day of snowshoeing. We also love the Skyway BBQ place, great food and drinks. The only issue was there was no door on the oven, so we had to modify our cooking plans, but it didn't cause too much distress, but hopefully that's not a permanent change! Overall, it is an ideal place to stay. We are hoping to come back during the summer and try a different sort of adventure!
It was very lovely quiet and romantic. A great weekend
This cabin made the perfect little surprise overnight gettaway for my boyfriend’s birthday! Everything was set up so cute and cozy. We both loved it and wished we could have stayed longer! Thanks so much!
The Bon Fir Cabin was the every bit as cozy and charming as the photos show. The place was clean and tidy, warm and inviting! The hot tub was most welcomed in the evening, and the wood stove was lovely to have!
Martin was a wonderful host - quick to reply, and very kind with flexibility on check-in time, as we were hoping to drop our luggage off before heading out to explore.
Would recommend this spot to anyone, and hope to return!
My husband and I were moving back to America after living overseas, we wanted to get married and go on a honeymoon right after. We ended up needing to change our date not once, but several times and Martin obliged us for all of our changes. He even worked with us on our budget so that we could have the honeymoon we wanted. His house is beautiful, the space is perfect for a couple and really set the mood for a romantic get away. We even ran out of wood with a week left of our stay and contacted Martin who quickly had someone bring over some more. We definitely want to come back here again and highly highly recommend it! We also can't say enough good things about how great Martin was to work with!
The cabin was perfect and exactly as described. We enjoyed the wood stove and the hot tub on the deck. The local Zig Zag Cafe was a great place to get breakfast each morning before we ventured out for our hike. Would definitely recommend this place and hope to stay there again!
