Chatham - Steps from Main Street.

The cottage has a great location in town, is well equipped and very comfortable. Our family enjoys walking to town for meals, shopping, coffee shops, band concerts, baseball games, playground and even my 3 year old is able to walk to two beaches and back. Chatham is a great place for exploring the rest of Cape Cod, we head out to Provincetown for dinner and whale watching, and to Dennis for antique shops.

Perfect cottage close to everything in Chatham

  • 5 of 5

Absolutely wonderful experience. Sue is a fantastic hostess - very responsive and accommodating. Could not have asked for anything better. We stayed with a 2 year old and a 2 month old baby and the house was perfect. We walked to town, the park, the Chatham As, Chatham Band and Oyster Pond with the 2 of them - some days without a stroller. Pack and play fit in the master bedroom easily. All around this was a great stay and we will be back.

Staying at the cottage with a toddler

  • 5 of 5

I wrote a review last year about staying at the cottage with a baby, but this year, we had a toddler on our hands! A quick recap - the cottage is fantastic. It is cozy, clean, well appointed, and has a few modern luxuries that make it a great home base in Chatham. The owners completely renovated the back patio area and installed a new outdoor shower - it looks wonderful out there and feels more functional. We sat out back often and our almost 2 year old poked around with the beach toys in the shed.

A few things to note if you are going with a toddler:

(1) when you get to the cottage, just grab the few cleaning products from under the sink and place on top of the fridge, and you are kid proofed - seriously, it is that easy.

(2) We used a rental service called Auntie Vi's to rent a crib and a high chair and when we arrived they were waiting for us on the front porch - so nice not to lug a pack and play through the airport. We had to get a little creative to get the crib to fit in the upstairs bedroom, but with a few simple moves, it worked beautifully.

(3) There are books for bedtime at the cottage, so no need to lug them with you

(4) You can log into your own Netflix account through the smart TV in the living room. This was a life saver in the morning when we were getting ready for the day, our kid could watch Curious George (or whatever your kid is into) on Netflix. At night, we could catch up on House of Cards.

(5) Beach toys are in good shape and there is a wagon in the shed if you want to drag that to Oyster pond. We just stuffed them in the stroller basket and off we went.

(6) Sometimes things break in a house. We had an issue where the air conditioner wasn't working properly...not a big deal. I shot an email off to the owner and mentioned it, and we went out to the ball game. When we returned, someone had been out to the house and it was fixed. It was more than we could have asked for in terms of being responsive.

See you again next year, Chatham!

Charming cottage, great location

  • 5 of 5

Had a great week at this charming, comfortable cottage! The home was clean, beautifully furnished, well organized, and the kitchen amply supplied. Sue, the owner, was helpful and accessible for questions. Located on a quiet and pretty side street, it's an easy walk to town with lots of shops and dining choices and to local beaches. It's also a convenient launching pad for drives to Hyannis to catch the ferry to Nantucket or Martha's Vineyard or to other local picturesque towns for exploring. It's hard to imagine a better place to stay in lovely Chatham MA!

Delightful cottage with everything you need; perfect location

  • 5 of 5

This property is centrally located to the downtown part of Chatham, and had everything we needed for our stay with a 14-month old toddler.

The cottage is small, but equipped with all the necessities. Very comfortable and charming.

Having the shed complete with wagon and beach accessories to include chairs, umbrella, toys, was icing on the cake.

Review of Cottage with a Baby

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I towed our 9 month old out to The Cape for a long weekend and stayed at the cottage. First off, if your child is into everything, this cottage really is pretty kid-proof. There were virtually no wires sticking out of places, no drawers on the main level to get fingers slammed in, the TV is up high enough so you don't have to worry about the baby pulling it down, etc. The entry porch was perfect for hanging wet towels, and parking the stroller overnight. The washer and dryer were high end (we have the same model at home)- important if you are doing a load every night like we did! The sink in the kitchen is big enough to give a baby a bath with no issues. As an overly cautious first time mom, I really appreciated that Sue stocked the cottage with earth friendly cleaning products, detergents and soaps. It was a nice touch. And, parents, let me tell you, the bed is SO comfortable. After chasing a kid around all day, it was so great to fall into a super comfy bed.

We did have to move the dresser around a bit to fit the pack and play in the second bedroom upstairs and because of that, the door couldn't shut, but that wasn't a big deal at all. There is a large bench at the top of the stairs that we covered with a blanket and used as a changing table - it worked great!

We sat outside and had a few beers while baby napped (bring a monitor and you too can enjoy the outdoors!). The outdoor shower was awesome - we didn't even use the one inside. The proximity to the beach and town was great. You really don't need to touch the car once you are in town. We used the park around the corner from the cottage for some "decompress time" in the afternoons. Bring a baby carrier with you because all of the shops have big signs about not bringing strollers in, so if you want to pop into some shops, strap that baby to you and make it happen.

Overall, we had a great experience at the cottage and would recommend it to other parents and if we ever get to be alone again, I would reckon it would make for a lovely romantic stay as well :-)
