Situated on top of the hill above Playa Pelada, where the breezes are fresh and cooling and with all the comforts of home, like nice furniture, appliances and plenty of space, the two bedroom / two bathroom 'Libertad' condo offers the best of penthouse living in Nosara - whether you are two couples traveling together or friends or one couple who need separate bedrooms. With fantastic views from sunrise to sunset of the white waters of Playa Pelada and Playa Guiones and the landscape in between, it is at the highest point of the six- apartment Casa Banda complex. Please see our 'Casa-Banda' web site for more info.
For complete privacy, the property is nestled between lots of tropical plants and behind walls, locked gates and fences, allowing for 'Clothing Optional Costa Rica' kind of living.
If you like life in the nude, please inquire even if the calendar looks like the unit is booked. We might just have reserved Casa Banda for the nudists/naturists at that time.
Each bedroom has a king size bed with orthopedic mattress and a private full bathroom, making it comfortable for two couples.
The kitchen is equipped for full time living and meals can be enjoyed inside or on the balcony. Windows on all sides and plenty of fans keep this top level apartment cool.
There is a large walk-in 'bodega' (safe storage room with metal door and dead bolt lock) large enough for anything you might want to put safely away.
Weekly maid service is included in the price. The telephone is for local calls only, but all of Costa Rica is 'local'.
We do not have a TV, but there is a small, but growing library, a radio with tape deck plus CD-player/MP3 player and a varied selection of CD's - or you could bring your own music. Bring your own audio cable and you can hook up your own music player to the music system.
To stay in contact with the 'real world', bring your lap top and connect to the secure, high-speed wireless network.
We do ask that you do not smoke or burn incense inside or bring pets at all.
Our pool is the largest private pool in the area and really nice, but when you want to see other bodies of water, it is only a 10-15 minute walk to the beach or the mouth of Rio Nosara for swimming, fishing, and shell collecting. (Coming back takes a little bit longer, because it is up-hill part of the way.)
Car or ATV is necessary for trips to Nosara Village and beyond. If you decide not to rent a vehicle for your entire stay, there is taxi service for a reasonable price and now five car rental places where you can rent for a day or more.
Despite our Scandinavian roots, we have always turned our eyes to the South when traveling for pleasure. In 1980, we emigrated to Virginia and found a climate much better than what we were used to in Denmark, but our vacations would generally take us even further south – and always to bodies of water. Over the years, we have seen many beautiful places, but it was always good to go back home to Virginia.
Bibi purchased this condo in 2001
In the summer of 2000, we traveled to Nosara, Costa Rica for the first time. We stayed at a small resort, which a friend had made us aware of. It was love at first sight! Nosara had everything we like: beach, ocean, warm weather, tropical fruits, fresh fish, original, local flair and friendly people. For the first time, we felt very much “at home”. Nosara chose us to stay, and a building lot for sale nearby kept calling us. Building in a Central American country has been a very interesting experience! It has taken a little blood, lots of sweat and some tears - and more patience than we thought we had, but we love the result. We invite you to share in our dream.
The higher you get, the better the view gets. Libertad has the highest position of all of Casa Banda, and the view is fantastic! If we hadn’t already built one of the other apartments for ourselves, this penthouse would be our choice.
Besides the view, it has plenty of room and a lot of character with its earth tones, furniture of our own design and lots of local hardwoods.
This apartment has its own “fan club” of guests who keep coming back and always request this unit.
Arne & Bibi,
Thank you for sharing your corner of Paradise with the T's from Texas. You two have been special hosts, providing perfect weather, sun, surf, sand and yes, items of personal usage.
We will forever remember our good times here, celebrating the holiday season.
If you ever find yourselves in Texas, please do not hesitate to give us a call. Blessings….
What a wonderful surprise it was to arrive to Casa BandA to find the most beautiful place I've been in Nosara! As soon as you get into the owners property it seems you are at another world, everything is so clean, well kept and quiet. I am a teacher so my search for vacation places is intense trying to find the perfect vacation house to rest and be in a silent place. The apartment rented was pristine, imagine what a task with the dust that arrives every summer in Guanacaste. Another great surprise was to find an excellent kitchen equipped for a pro. I am a good cook and always travel with my kitchen utensils. Never needed at this place because they even had good spices to share with the person that rents the house. The pool one of the cleanest I've seen and with good chairs to sit and read in a very peaceful ambiance. The owner is available at all time in case you need something. All in all, I highly recommend this house for the best vacation ever in Playa Pelada, Nosara, Guanacaste.
We stayed at Casa BandA for a week and thoroughly enjoyed the entire resort. I never relaxed more anywhere.... From the wonderful accomodations, we stayed in the Buena Vista unit, to the pool, the grilling station and the surrounding jungle, it exceeded our expectations. Being as enveloped as the resort was in the beautifully manicured and maintained gardens which backed up to and were surrounded by the jungle, we experienced the call of the howler monkeys and tropical birds in the morning and the afternoon. The sunsets from the patio were breath-taking. Bibi and Arne were excellent hosts and their recommendations for local area activities and restaurants were spot on! We could walk to the beaches or drive to the spots further away as needed. Lagarta Lodge, right down the road was a nice spot for dinner, a sunset drink and the breakfast buffet. The unit was comfortable and well appointed and lacked nothing. Depending on what you want to do, where you fly into, etc., a car may be recommended. We'll be back!
We travel quite extensively and found this apartment lovely--very well appointed kitchen, comfortable furniture and beds, and spotless. Friends stayed in the other apartments and we had a great time enjoying drinks, snacks, and meals in three units/ All are spacious and elegantly decorated. The pool and surroundinggardens are beautiful. We loved the howler monkeys, turtle nesting, and spectacular birds. Set atop a mountain overlooking the ocean and the Nosara beaches, this site provides beautiful views--morning, noon, and night. The nearby La Garta nature preserve provides a great morning walk and the La Garta lodge's Sunset Bar offers a great place for sunset (if one feels like leaving the apartment). Bibi is a very gracious host. We had a wonderful stay and recommend the property very highly.
Nosara is different from other 'touristy' places in Costa Rica, much more laid back, natural and rugged. Just getting here can be an adventure for some.
Unless you are mostly looking for a lively night life and everything clean and shiny, Nosara will pull you in and you won't want to leave. (We are proof, now living in Nosara full time.)
There are lots of adventures to be had in the natural surroundings of ocean, river and mountains: zipping on the longest line in the world, stand-up paddling to beaches you can’t get to otherwise, riding ATV's to hidden waterfalls, paddling a sea kayak over the surf, surfing some of the best breaks in the world, fishing at the river mouth, going bird watching in a silent boat on the river......just to name a few.
During new moon, typically from July to December, the Olive Ridley Turtles come to nest at Playa Ostional, 30 minutes north of Casa Banda. 45 days later, the babies come out of the sand. Both events are truly some of nature's wonders, and if timing allows, one you should experience.
