We loved our little getaway, our favorite time at the house was spend on the awesome porch which was what drew us to that particular rental to begin with. The house was very comfortable, quiet and well stocked with everything we needed. would definitely go there again.
A great mountain cottage!
We enjoyed a mid-summer weekend at your charming cottage. It is in a great location, secluded, well furnished, and comfortable.
A peaceful retreat
We have enjoyed this beautiful and peaceful cabin for many years. The owners are very helpful and friendly. It is close to Hendersonville and Asheville and all their attractions. If you want to get away from it all, this is the place!!
A cottage that's a home with history and heart
The Cottage on Long Mountain is an absolute delight! Nestled in a hill overlooking gorgeous hills and surrounded by a canopy of leaves, it is secluded and yet not far from Hendersonville, Dupont Forest, and other wonderful attractions. The front yard is covered with ivy and hugged by a newly painted white picket fence and ancient stone steps that invite you in. You'll find unparalleled relaxation on the screened-in porch while drinking your morning coffee or having a family dinner on the generously sized dining table. The open-floor plan is convenient for gatherings, and the living room is filled with cozy furniture, antique trinkets, and lots of books, magazines, and games. The bedrooms, bathrooms, and kitchen are all very comfortable: with hard wood paneling on the floors and ceilings, and thick, wide, wooden stairs and doors, this is not a place for those who seek glamour, but for people who appreciate the gentle hum of history and hominess. The main floor's bathroom has fantastic reading material---plastered all over the walls!--- that will take you back to another era. This is a perfect setting for a family or two, a writers' retreat, or a girlfriends' getaway. Walt is a welcoming host who was exceptionally good natured when we arrived near midnight and called him to check in (sorry again!). We can't wait to return!
Secluded Countryside Retreat
My boyfriend and I were looking for a place to stay with our dog over fourth of July weekend, last minute, which you can imagine should have been a nightmare. Our experience was everything but, we were so lucky to have come across the Cottage at Long Mountain. Walt responded within just a few hours as to the availability. He was accommodating, flexible with our late arrival time, and very personable.
When we arrived, we noticed immediately no pictures can do this place justice. It is a beautiful cottage set apart in a very rural area a very short drive from Hendersonville. More than ample parking, a front yard completely fenced in for our dog, and beautiful antique furniture and decorations all over the cottage. We were only a group of four but there were enough beds and space for 10! The beds were comfortable, the place was so clean, and the kitchen had everything we would have had in our own home. There was even a washer and dryer in the home and it was summer but had it been winter we would have absolutely tried out the wood fireplace.
The screened in porch needs it's own paragraph. We would have our breakfast sitting at the table then relax with a book on the chair swing that looked out for miles over the mountains. The wood floor gave an authentic outdoor country feel. It was a dream come true, and we told ourselves each day how happy we were that we found this place and had not wasted our money for an overpriced holiday rate at a hotel.
Now, convenience, there was no traffic near or around the cottage. Asheville was a 40 minute drive, but what we found once we got there was that everything we wanted to see or do we found in the valley near the cottage (Big Bradley falls, Little Bradley, etc). Hendersonville was less than 20-25 minutes away and had some of the best Thai and Sushi we had found in all of North Carolina. It was like a mini Asheville minus the paid parking, expensive food, and traffic.
If you are looking for a secluded place to stay for an excellent rate that is clean, comfortable, and well just perfect, look no further. Walt and his wife were incredible owners who were more than accommodating before, during, and even after our stay. We will absolutely be returning. I would love to keep this place as our little secret but that would be fair to all of you reading this :)
Independence day getaway
Wonderful trip and a wonderful cabin! It was great to relax on the screened in porch and enjoy the weather. Cabin was clean and spacious and our dogs loved it, too! We also found hendersonville to be more friendly than Asheville
