Review: Caroline writes...'This is a wonderful house appointed with breathtaking ocean views. We never tired of watching the sailboats drift by during day and the moon's reflection shimmering by night from the windows and deck off the main living area of the house. Meanwhile, the house has been completely updated including a remodeled kitchen and bathrooms. Lots of extras were added such as a state of the art wet bar and Viking appliances. Flat screen TV's in the living room and master bedroom allowed us to take full advantage of the Direct TV channels. Also, the house floor plan is very livable as the main living area (dining room, kitchen and living room) are located on the entry level and the bedrooms located downstairs allow for lots of privacy. In short, the house is tastefully and comfortably furnished, reminiscent of a luxury hotel. When we were feeling more adventurous, we took advantage of the home's ideal Mesa location, just minutes from the beach, harbor, parks and downtown Santa Barbara. We enjoyed using the homes two kayaks, beach towels, beach chairs and sun umbrella as we spent time at the local beaches. After a day at the beach we would come home and relax in the spa off the master bedroom before barbecuing for dinner. Dinner was often followed by a cocktail, and then dessert trailed off to dimming ocean lights. We can't wait to return.'

Best Stay in SB

  • 5 of 5

We couldn't have walked away happier from this experience. Not only was the home beautiful, but the furnishing and amenities made it one of the most comfortable stays we've ever had from an online rental. And there are probably only a handful of other homes in the entire Santa Barbara area with that kind of view. The pictures of the sunset look too good to be true, but I assure you, that is really what its like.

Location is fantastic. Just minutes away from State street, the pier, and a couple of great hikes. But the highlight was driving just 5 minutes north to the off-leash dog park on the beach!

I could not recommend this place more. Great place to relax and question why you dont live in santa barbara all year

A great home with great views of the harbor and ocean

  • 5 of 5

This was our second visit to Santa Barbara, and we knew the area where the home is located, so our expectations were high. When we entered the house and walked through to the porch overlooking the ocean, I realized that we were going to have a wonderful time living there again. It is hard to overstate the pleasure we got just from looking at the ocean - from the porch, from the living room, from the dining room. But we also got great pleasure from the wonderful cooking areas, both inside and in the outside area. We had many memorable meals with friends in Santa Barbara. The small yard is beautifully planted and maintained. The home is minutes from the harbor, Shoreline Drive Park, the Douglas Preserve, and Hendry's beach. We walked in one of these at sunset almost every day. We also took advantage of the nearby harbor to take several sailboat trips to watch the sea life in the channel. We also discovered that we were only a short drive away from some great hikes in the foothills of Santa Barbara. Our months living in this home were wonderful. Living there exceeded our very high expectations.

Everything about this home is about relaxing comfortably with outstanding views, garden and all the comforts of home and amenities. Plus it's close to everything SB has to offer whether its beaches, shopping or restaurants. The owners are most accommodating. Highly recommended.

Shhhh! It should be a secret!

  • 5 of 5

I have stayed at this enchanted property twice: three years ago when their completely redesigned backyard was planted (February) and a month ago (April). Each time, I found the house clean and orderly, the Viking kitchen easier to cook in than mine at home --more counter space or the views? Let me stop at the views: from their terrace atop the Mesa this house has the best and most panoramic view of the bay in all of Santa Barbara. I am a native Angeleno and have been visiting Santa Barbara all of my life. I always end of spending all of my time on or near the large terrace. Lounging, eating, or just gazing at the sailboats, the cruise ships and the colors of the day and night. But when the sun leaves the terrace, it is time to have a drink in the backyard (with another full Viking kitchen) and fireplace. The late afternoon sun drenches the exquisite, terraced native plantings. I feel a sort of pride in having seen them before they grew to their full size. The water bubbles from a large, allowing you to simply relax in peace and privacy. On a practical note, there is a washer and dryer in the two-car garage, which has been impressively upgraded to state-of-the-art large capacity LG front loaders. There is an outdoor shower to rinse the sand off from beach walks (just down the hill to a park and the shore). The house is thoughtfully equipped and stocked with nice amenities—it is easy to cook with plenty of pots, pans, utensils. A lovely, long dining table for friends to gather just inside the terrace with that view again. Three bedrooms and two bathrooms downstairs keep (in my case) all the lodging separate from the upstairs living areas. Staying here is the easiest decision I make; the hardest part is making the time for it. (The owners are available and unobtrusive—always pleasant in my few encounters.)

Paradise Found

  • 5 of 5

We rented this property for a few months this Fall/Winter and had an incredible experience. The house is stunning and immaculate, well equipped with anything you could possibly need. The views are to die for. The neighborhood is peaceful, quiet, safe and within close proximity to everything. The beds are so cozy, the hot tub is lovely, and the outdoor spaces are beautiful. The backyard is magazine worthy! All in all, we loved everything about our stay here and found the owner delightful, friendly and responsive at all times. Highly recommend!!

Charming Home with an Amazing view

  • 5 of 5

Our family spent one month this summer at "Spanish Gem". The owner, Jacqueline, was a pleasure to deal with. She went out of her way to provide items that our family needed for our stay, such as, renting baby gates for the stairs, buying a crock-pot so I could prepare my baby food as usual, and even buying a new dog bed, bowels and a toy for our beloved 11 year old chihuahua who travels with us. We travel extensively with our family, and I can honestly say she has been the most accommodating of any owner/manger. The view from the house is amazing! We spent every evening watching the sun set under the heaters on the deck. The small yard is immaculately kept with beautiful succulents and a fruit tee. There is not any grass, and small children need to be supervised in the yard. The kitchen supplied everything you would need to cook a large meal. Plenty of pots and pans. The outdoor grill was wonderful! The beds are comfortable and the house is very quite. The washing machine and dryer are brand new and top of the line. We borrowed the 2 adult bikes at the home and enjoyed riding down Shoreline Dr. The house is conveniently located to Lazy Acres (best grocery store), the beach, shopping and downtown. All in all, the house has a very comfortable relaxed feel and we appreciated Jacqueline's hospitality. I would definitely recommend this home to everyone!
