Fabulous home with beautiful ocean and harbor views
We enjoyed the spectacular view everyday of our 2 month stay...from the deck, living-dining room, kitchen...it was always breathtaking. Spanish Gem is a beautiful home with all the amenities and Jacqueline is an easy, responsive homeowner. The location is private yet accessible to anything in Santa Barbara. The backyard is a sanctuary with it's stunning garden, fireplace and outdoor cooking area. The wooden table allows for wonderful dinners with all the ambience. We look forward to our return in just a few months to celebrate the holidays!!
Best Stay in SB
We couldn't have walked away happier from this experience. Not only was the home beautiful, but the furnishing and amenities made it one of the most comfortable stays we've ever had from an online rental. And there are probably only a handful of other homes in the entire Santa Barbara area with that kind of view. The pictures of the sunset look too good to be true, but I assure you, that is really what its like.
Location is fantastic. Just minutes away from State street, the pier, and a couple of great hikes. But the highlight was driving just 5 minutes north to the off-leash dog park on the beach!
I could not recommend this place more. Great place to relax and question why you dont live in santa barbara all year
A great home with great views of the harbor and ocean
This was our second visit to Santa Barbara, and we knew the area where the home is located, so our expectations were high. When we entered the house and walked through to the porch overlooking the ocean, I realized that we were going to have a wonderful time living there again. It is hard to overstate the pleasure we got just from looking at the ocean - from the porch, from the living room, from the dining room. But we also got great pleasure from the wonderful cooking areas, both inside and in the outside area. We had many memorable meals with friends in Santa Barbara. The small yard is beautifully planted and maintained. The home is minutes from the harbor, Shoreline Drive Park, the Douglas Preserve, and Hendry's beach. We walked in one of these at sunset almost every day. We also took advantage of the nearby harbor to take several sailboat trips to watch the sea life in the channel. We also discovered that we were only a short drive away from some great hikes in the foothills of Santa Barbara. Our months living in this home were wonderful. Living there exceeded our very high expectations.
The perfect getaway in SB
Everything about this home is about relaxing comfortably with outstanding views, garden and all the comforts of home and amenities. Plus it's close to everything SB has to offer whether its beaches, shopping or restaurants. The owners are most accommodating. Highly recommended.
Shhhh! It should be a secret!
I have stayed at this enchanted property twice: three years ago when their completely redesigned backyard was planted (February) and a month ago (April). Each time, I found the house clean and orderly, the Viking kitchen easier to cook in than mine at home --more counter space or the views? Let me stop at the views: from their terrace atop the Mesa this house has the best and most panoramic view of the bay in all of Santa Barbara. I am a native Angeleno and have been visiting Santa Barbara all of my life. I always end of spending all of my time on or near the large terrace. Lounging, eating, or just gazing at the sailboats, the cruise ships and the colors of the day and night. But when the sun leaves the terrace, it is time to have a drink in the backyard (with another full Viking kitchen) and fireplace. The late afternoon sun drenches the exquisite, terraced native plantings. I feel a sort of pride in having seen them before they grew to their full size. The water bubbles from a large, allowing you to simply relax in peace and privacy. On a practical note, there is a washer and dryer in the two-car garage, which has been impressively upgraded to state-of-the-art large capacity LG front loaders. There is an outdoor shower to rinse the sand off from beach walks (just down the hill to a park and the shore). The house is thoughtfully equipped and stocked with nice amenities—it is easy to cook with plenty of pots, pans, utensils. A lovely, long dining table for friends to gather just inside the terrace with that view again. Three bedrooms and two bathrooms downstairs keep (in my case) all the lodging separate from the upstairs living areas. Staying here is the easiest decision I make; the hardest part is making the time for it. (The owners are available and unobtrusive—always pleasant in my few encounters.)
