A spacious, superbly equipped, 5-star villa set up to sleep 8 people/children. But, with the provision of extra single beds Casa Andrago can sleep up to eleven people/children. It has spectacular views across the finca’s almond terraces towards the pretty pueblo of Parcent and the mountains beyond. It has its own private shaded sun terrace. The Casa incorporates the finca’s Tower which has a fascinating medieval character.

Finca La Asmoladora

Finca La Asmoladora is a magnificent old estate in the middle of sixteen acres of almond, olive, vine and orange terraces: a stunning property in a spectacular location with panoramic mountain views. It is a haven of rural beauty, peace and quiet close to the unspoilt pueblo of Parcent - 'paradise between mountains' - but only 30 minutes' easy drive from the renowned family beach resorts of Javea, Denia and Moraira. The finca is set up to accommodate groups from 2 to 16 people in Casa Andrago, a superb five bedroom house sleeping eight, and in three charming Casitas, each sleeping either two or four. Extra beds/cots are available so the finca can accommodate up to 20 people. A small charge is made for each extra bed supplied. All the finca’s accommodation is arranged around an attractive stone paved courtyard and walled sculpture garden. Casa Andrago is made up of an interconnected Guest House and Tower, each sleeping four, which can be rented separately. The finca is ideal for groups of all sizes wanting to holiday together and is a superb and beautiful place to celebrate a special event - Wedding, Silver or Golden Wedding, sigificant brithday or anniversary etcetera.

La Asmoladora's Casa and Casitas are all superbly equipped and are available for rent individually or in combination. This allows very flexible accommodation for couples, families or larger groups. All guests have equal access to the very large pool, barbecue area and tennis court but, as the property is extremely large, different groups can share the finca and easily maintain their privacy. The large stone paved courtyard, the extensive walled sculpture garden, the stone paved terraces behind the Casitas and the enormous pool and barbeque terrace provide a wide choice of places for outdoor eating and drinking. The stone paved courtyard has been used by many groups for cocktail parties. The pool/barbeque terrace is ideal for music and dancing in the evening and well into the night. The nearest neighbour is over 250 yards away so loud music for parties is no problem. The finca has hosted many weddings, golden and silver weddings and countless birthday celebration.

A renowned cook of local pueblo/regional dishes is available to prepare paellas etcetera for guests at the finca.

The finca is an excellent base for combining sea, beach and sporting activities with driving, riding (horses or mountain bikes), walking, biking, climbing or just roaming the surrounding mountains. The finca has its own excellent hard court tennis court, outdoor table tennis facilities and basket ball facilities - raquets, bats and balls all provided. There are also five rentable mountain bikes and bikes for children. The valleys lined with fruit and almond trees - an endless sea of pink/ white blossom in spring - and the unspoiled mountain pueblos are a delight to explore. There are two safari parks a short drive from the finca and Benidorm - about 45 minutes drive - has as wide variety of theme parks including Terra Mitica. The family resorts of Javea and Denia - each about 30 minutes away - both have a wide varierty of beaches, coves and caves to explore and fascinating historic centers. The castle in Denia dates back to Phonecian times. Both resorts have harbours with fishing fleets and where fish is autioned off the boats

The produce of the local wineries is well worth sampling - the tiny winery in Parcent supplies the Spanish Royal family.

After a quiet glass of wine and a few almonds from the finca's almond trees while watching the sun set dramatically behind Parcent, there are memorable restaurants of all types to try in the area.

The historic cities of Valencia and Alicante are just 75 minutes away.

About Derek Cornthwaite

Derek and his fiancee, Penny de B Cookson, are British. Derek lived internationally for many years in the UK, Hong Kong, the USA and Canada - during which time he also became a Canadian citizen. For ten years he was Chairman of a company involved in agriculture in Spain - so is familar with all parts of Spain. Penny is a linguist. She speaks Spanish and French as well as Portuguese, German and Japanese. She taught languages until she retired as an Oxford Fellow and college administrator a couple of years ago. Both are interested in Opera, Ballet and Theatre and in international travel. Penny is also interested in archaeology particularly of the Roman period. They love Spain and its fascinating history and make it their main home. They also have small homes in Oxford and the Peak National Park in the UK and an apartment on Lake Como in Italy. They run Finca La Asmoladora together as a hobby - life style business.

Why Derek Cornthwaite chose Parcent

About 17 years ago, Derek and his late wife, Pam, searched for a large old finca estate to use as their Spanish home for part of the year. They found Finca La Asmoladora at the mountain end of the beautiful Jalon valley. It was Valentine’s Day and all its hundreds of almond trees were covered in incredible pink and white blossom - the finca looked idyllic. They fell in love with its charm, its history which dates back to Roman times, its terraces of almonds, oranges, vines and olives, its spectacular location with mountains on three sides and its perfect peace and tranquility

They recognised that the finca, which had been neglected for a number of years, could be gradually converted into the spectacular and lovely country estate for themselves and their guests that it is today. Sadly Pam died some time ago. But their project of careful and sympathetic restoration and improvement which started that February day long ago, continues today as an active and ongoing project of love for Derek and Penny.

Casa Andrago has two interconnected parts, a Guest House and the finca’s Tower. Each part sleeps four and has its own bathroom. The two parts can be rented separately. The Guest House is a complete house with a well equipped kitchen for full self catering. The Tower has no cooking or eating facilities. The Casa has satellite TV, a DVD player, a VCR players, a CD/Radio HIFi stereo player and free WiFi internet connection. Casa Andrago has central heating and its own private shaded terraces/balcony with spectacular views. Heating is included in the rental rates. There is a tennis court and outdoor table tennis. Mountain bikes are available for hire. Family oriented end June to early September. Idyllic, romantic accommodation for mid sized groups the rest of the year. Superb accommodation for mountain based activities. Ideal for climbers, walkers and cyclists in the autumn, winter and spring. An excellent base for searching for property in the spectacular Jalon Valley

Situated at the spectacular mountain end of the very pretty Jalon valley. At the end of its own private road close to the delightful small pueblos of Parcent - famously described as 'paradise between mountains' - and Alcalali. A private and a peaceful large 16 acre estate set in a landscape of oranges, lemons and olive terraces built a 1000 years ago. The finca produces its own Rose wine and extra virgin olive oil. The local area is a 'destination' area for restauants - there are more than ten within a five minute drive. Supermarkets, pharmacies, bakeries, bars etcetera are also within a few minutes drive. 25 minutes from the superb family resorts and beaches of Javea and Denia - both have harbours and fishing fleets. The major resort of Benidorm with its many theme parks is a 45 minute drive. The historic port cities of Alicante and Valencia are 90 minutes away. Guadalest, the fascinating fortified mountain top village - entered through a small tunnel, so no cars - is one hour away. Close to Guadalest is Safari Aitana - a excellent mountain safari park.

Other activities: rock climbing, mountain walking, mountain biking.

Golf: La Asmoladora is ideally placed for golf - fifteen courses within about an hour. These include three championship course, the beautiful Olazabal inspired La Sella course 25 minutes away, the Ballesteros designed Oliva Nova course 40 minutes away and the links course, El Saler, one of the top fifty courses in the world, an hour away.

The finca's casa/ casitas are perfect for couples or small groups of up to twenty people wanting a golfing holiday while staying in an area of idyllic, spectacular rural beauty.
