Pacific Grove House Rental Photos and Description

5 Bedrooms, 3 Baths, Sleeps 10

Welcome to “The Seventeenth Street House"!

The house has a year-round 3 night minimum, accommodates up to 8 adults and 2 children age 12 and under with a maximum of 3 cars. The Pacific Grove Vacation Rental Permit for this house limits the number of parking spaces to 3 cars on the street. There is no off street parking. Car pooling may be necessary to accommodate the City parking requirement.

**For more details about this home, see the Sanctuary Vacation Rentals website or call our office directly.

Well-behaved, crate trained dogs accepted upon Owner approval.

This spacious 3,000 square feet, 3-story home has been completely remodeled with great attention to detail. The Seventeenth Street House is a perfect home for family reunions; however due to the sensitivity of our neighbors and limited parking, the home is not available for wedding parties or wedding groups.

It is located in the charming seaside community of Pacific Grove -- known as "Butterfly Town USA" because it is a stop in the migration of the Monarch Butterfly. It is also called "America's last hometown" for its small-scale, old-fashioned downtown of locally owned shops and businesses.

Upon your arrival you will be greeted by complimentary wine and nuts, passes to the famous Spa on the Plaza in downtown Monterey, tickets for a wine tasting at Scheid Vineyards’ tasting room in downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea, and a basket of local information. An assigned concierge vacation house manager is available to assist you during your stay.

On the first floor there is a solarium with views of the garden and fountains from each end as well as an open floor plan that includes a dining area with a large wooden table. There is a formal parlor-living room that adjoins a fireplace room crafted from local Carmel stone -- perfect for sitting on the comfortable couch and relaxing with a glass of wine or curled up with a good novel. There is also a game room/library, a fully equipped kitchen, a laundry room and full bathroom with a claw foot tub and separate walk-in shower. One small bedroom with a twin size bed is also on the first floor.

On the second floor there is a TV room with a comfortable couch to watch a movie or sports. The billiard room has a full-size pool table and is located next to the TV room making it perfect for socializing and gathering together.

Also on the second floor are 3 bedrooms, one with a king bed which can also become two twins, one with a double bed, and one with a queen bed. There is a full bathroom with a shower-over-claw foot tub that is accessible to all three bedrooms.

The third floor is the Master Suite that is like being in the treetops with beautiful sunsets and sunrises that can be seen from the windows and balcony. The master suite has a large sitting area, master bathroom with deep soaking tub, separate shower and bay views. The king bed can also be broken down into two twins if preferred. Another twin bed is located in the seating area. You can count on a great night sleep high above the treetops with the salt air smells wafting from the nearby Bay. This space is as big as a studio apartment.

We look forward to welcoming you and sharing this wonderful home with you. This charming-turn-of-the-century house is only two blocks from the heart of Pacific Grove with award-winning restaurants, cafes, bakeries, coffee houses, a movie theater, art galleries, a bookstore/coffee house with live entertainment and numerous specialty shops including vintage clothing, antique stores, an ice cream shop as well as a Monday Farmers' Market featuring regional organic produce, local crafts and food vendors. Whatever the occasion might be, we are excited to share this special home and the beautiful surrounding area.

Guestbook comments from the manager

9/5/11

We enjoyed your home. It seems to be unique among Pacific Grove properties in that it’s very large but also allows visitors to have some privacy! There are so many rooms that we easily spread ourselves out among them. The master suite is truly exceptional- huge but cozy, secluded from the other two floors, and beautifully furnished. In fact, the entire house is tastefully decorated and restored- a very warm, comfortable home. The center of the house for our family was the game room with pool table. We always had a least two players shooting pool and a cheering section around. The TV room was another favorite gathering place where we rooted in vain for the Giants to win. And finally the large dining table and counter with barstools held all of us comfortably as we prepared and ate our meals

Thanks so much for making our stay so wonderful!

Comfortable and convenient vacation home

  • 5 of 5

This is a lovely home with very comfy beds. The living areas are not large (it's a Victorian after all), but dining table easily seats 10 and the kitchen island seats 2 persons. The home had everything we needed to make our stay enjoyable. The kitchen is especially well-appointed. We did some cooking and baking. The place was very clean and tidy. The house is very close to restaurants, shops and the cove at Lovers' Point which was perfect for our grandkids (ages 2 and 4). The Monterey Bay aquarium is a few minutes drive away. The owners are very nice as other reviewers have noted.

Nice for large group

  • 4 of 5

Overall we really enjoyed our time once we got to the house. It was in great shape and we enjoyed the front porch area with our kids, and had plenty of room. I loved the large dinning table so that we could all gather, and the locations was great. Leading up to our stay the Property Management group was pretty awful to work with. They kept changing the rules for renting this house in the peak season. It was very frustrating, and never consistent from one person to the next. it eventually worked out, but it defiantly left a bad taste. The owner is a very nice and lovely person, however, it is a little awkward that they live in the attached garage. I wish this was disclosed to us before our stay.

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to submit a review and we are happy to hear that you enjoyed the home. We do apologize for the confusion surrounding your reservation process. During that time we were dealing with a few glitches in our systems which were changing our minimum stay requirement for the peak system. We can understand how this was frustrating for yourself. We will add a mention of the owner's living on-site in a studio apartment to our reservation documents for future guests. We are sorry this was not disclosed to you prior to your arrival. Reviewer Comments:

We are so happy to have stayed in this lovely home. The location was perfect! We walked our dogs down to Lover's Point daily. It was close to Cannery Row, Fisherman's Wharf and the Monterey Plaza Hotel where we attended a family wedding. There was a grocery store just minutes away and lots of cute little restaurants that were walking distance. Very dog friendly area which we loved. The house had everything we needed, we just needed to buy groceries. It's a very large home, so more than enough room for all of us to stay there comfortably. Nan was wonderful, we were greeted with snacks and a lovely bottle of wine. She was more than accomodating to our family and pups... If we have the opportunity, we'd love to stay there again.

Map

It is an easy 4 block walk to Lover's Point Beach and the breathtaking regional trail that winds along the Monterey Bay connecting Asilomar State Beach, the famous Monterey Bay Aquarium, Cannery Row and Fisherman's Wharf.

Along the route you will find one great restaurant after the next, local wine-tasting with amazing views of Monterey Bay as well as many tourist attractions, including whale watching, sailing, kayaking and chowder sampling.

We are only a 5-minute drive to the Pebble Beach Gate and 17-Mile-Drive, a 10-minute drive to Carmel and another 20 minutes to Carmel Valley. Big Sur is a 45-minute drive south with some of the most breathtaking views in the world en route.
