We have friends that live year round on Bauneg Beg and searched for a house in this location in order to have proximity to them as well as easy travel to beaches and shopping. We could not have been happier. The home is very well appointed and comfortable, without feeling like you can't 'live' in it. The yard is spacious and access to the water is perfect. Our party consisted of myself, my husband and 3 children (ages 10, 12, 14), my brother in law and sister in law and 2 children (ages 13 and 6) and my Mother. The room arrangements worked out perfectly. We did experience an issue during our stay and the landlord was quick to respond and the work necessary did not interfere with our plans whatsoever. We were able to host 2 dinners during our visit with ample seating and cooking space for all! The lake is pefect - calm, not crowded, warm water, not too deep...and easy 30 minute drives to several beaches and great shopping. I would highly recommend this rental property!
I rented this lovely lake home for a family gathering to honor my husband who died unexpectedly a year ago. It was a perfect place for 3 generations to talk, play, eat, sing around the fire pit and enjoy the lake. While there is traffic noise from Rte 4, we soon learned to ignore it and everything else felt private ,special and beautiful. A short drive takes you to coastal Maine which is also beautiful but much busier. Highly recommend this home.
I rented this beautiful lakefront home for my husband's 60th birthday celebration. I use the term "home" instead of house because we felt like we were at home. The weather wasn't that great but we made the best of it, it was big enough for all us to spread out and do our own thing. My 4 grandchildren went fishing, played hide & seek and had so much fun. We were all very comfortable, there were 11 of us. My husband and stayed a few days after our children and grandchildren left, we went to Kennebunkport, went to the movies down the street and just relaxed. The view of the lake is amazing.
After searching for the perfect place to stay for a family reunion, we landed on this house and just came back from a week at this lovely lake home. It was everything we were hoping it would be and more! It was in the perfect location - close to family in Kennebunkport and Wells (but without the traffic and tourists)! We were two families and we had ample room for the 9 of us, and even had a bedroom to spare! The beach front is amazing - sandy and shallow enough for my 18 month old to wade in at the shore, but also had a dock where the older kids could swim to. We also loved that there were canoes and kayaks and a hammock to use as well as an outdoor fire pit and bbq and the large lawns (front and back of house) were awesome. The place was clean, the neighbors were super friendly and the owner was prompt and helpful in all communication.
We hope to visit again in the future!!
Our week at this home was fantastic. Great fishing and swimming. The kids had a great time jumping off the dock and float. The yards in front and back offered ample space to play any kind of game you can think of. The house had plenty of room for our large family as well. We'll definitely consider returning in the future.
This Bauneg Beg lake house is a great venue for an extended family vacation. The inside space is comfortable and perfect for accommodating a large group - even on a rainy day. The kitchen is spacious, well-equipped and the backyard grilling/picnic area is big enough for a crowd. The beach/swimming area works well for little ones. The older kids love fishing off the dock, swimming to the raft and paddling the boats. The yard is great for wiffle ball, Frisbee and croquet - or an evening campfire. We love simply hanging out by the lake, yet also appreciate that this house is close to shopping, ice cream, mini-golf, the beach and all that the Southern Maine coast has to offer. The property's proximity to busy Route 4 makes for some traffic noise that's most noticeable at night, but that hasn't (& won't) keep us from returning to this place our grandchildren affectionately call "Vacation House".
