This apartment is in a great location. Lots of good restaurants very close by including Eataly, Shake Shack (Madison Square Park) & Live Bait.
Also near subway. A short subway ride to Times Square and short walk to The High Line.
Wintson was very helpful to us recommending places to eat and pointing us toward the grocery store. I felt like he was watching out for us and check on us during our stay. Helped me feel safe going in and out.
Apartment was fairly clean. Building is old just like most buildings in New York.
Down side would be that we did not get the apartment in the photograph so outside area was not as nice. It was difficult to go in and out with the step and no handle to come back in. Loft is crawl space which is good for kids or teenagers but not so much for older adults.
Tanya was very helpful with all our concerns and I would stay there again.
Good location but a few negatives
The apartment itself is located in an excellent location. However, there are a few negatives about this property.
It is noisy and old - the bedsheets need to be replaced ASAP as they are old and tattered. The owner should also think about providing basic items like more toilet paper and bin liners - these were annoying to buy!
The owner seemed to clash with Winston (like other reviews have mentioned). This is awkward to go through - it is disrespectful to yell at someone in front of a tenant. I was also made to sign a fake contract to say I was staying for more than a month which I wasn't happy about doing. They also charged me more than was agreed to so I had to arrange reimbursement after alerting them multiple times that they overcharged me.
Tonya did respond quickly to some of my concerns whilst I was in NYC which I was thankful for.
All in all the apartment is perfectly located but a few touch ups would have made our experience better.
So sorry about the sheets those will be replaced ASAP as i didn't realize they were scratchy for anyone!. But as far as toilet paper goes i supply two rolls and a box of garbage bags are always under the sink. That being said if one runs out away a few days before they leave i always give another roll all they have to do is ask! The supers are older and bit hard of hearing so it seems they are fighting but honestly they're just loud because they are bit deaf as i mentioned before lol. As far as the contract it was not fake, it is a standard Month to month lease contract i make all long term tenants sign and as she was staying 30 days it had to be signed. All in all happy their stay went well!
We will come back!
We stayed in NCY for 10 days and the apartment ist great! The building has an elevator. There is enough space for 2 - 4 people. It's very close to the Iron Building and several subway stations. We had great food in Eataly just 2 minutes away and some nice dinners in Chelsa area!
Tonya was very nice and helpful and answered our questions very quickly! The correspondance with her during the booking phase was already very pleasant. I trusted her from the first moment we were in contact because she's very professional.
The concierge/caretaker is a very lovely, gentle and helpful Person and always courteous and attentive. He made us feel welcome and in good hands.
The area around the Iron Building is quite safe and calm.
The only little issue were the people above and beside us....little bit too noisy on the weekend. But it didn't bother us too much!
I can really recomend this apartment!
We will come back for sure!
The apartment is in an excellet location! Close to everything.
It is a little old and noisy (you can hear your neighbours walking or talking), but is not a big problem. Most of New York apartment are like that.
Tonya is a great host, she always answered everything we needed! I can't say the same of Winston. He is a very rude man!!! unpolite and scary. He got very nervious every time we wanted to talk to him since english is not our native language and sometimes was complicated to understand him.
All in all is a good apartment!
SO happy you liked my apartment so much! Sometimes coming to a new country and not really understanding the language can be intimidating. But i assure you Winston is super nice and helpful but you both were just trying to understand each other which can be frustrating. Any questions should always be directed towards me as he is just the man who lets you in! Would be happy to have you stay again!
We stayed in this apartment for three nights. The location was perfectly sandwiched between the Empire State Building, Flat Iron Building, and super close to Times Square and subway access as well. The apartment itself was decently clean and for three people, fairly spacious. Winston, the superintendent/maintence person, was very kind and helpful. The last day when we were trying to set up car service from the location to the airport, the owner was very pushy with his opinions and seemed to just parakeet and talk over whatever Winston was trying to tell us and help us with. It was sort of like he was having a one man pissing contest. As this location is an apartment, there seemed to be someone who was practicing cartwheels upstairs at all hours of the day and night. All of these things said, I would stay here again for a short duration, but I would consider other places first.
TL/DR: Pros: Clean enough, decent location, Winston was amazing, Close to subway and attractions. Cons: pushy owner, noisy upstairs tenants.
Thanks for the nice review as well!! I know you stayed w/the reviewer above so i say the same reply... It really is a great little well situated clean comfy spot. As far as the people upstairs i wish you would've told me or Winston as we could have remedied that ASAP. But without knowledge of it had no idea they were being loud. The building owner is an old guy who is hard of hearing so he can seem a bit like he's not listening but is really trying to be helpful! Happy you had a great NY experience with my apartment though and happy to have you back anytime!
Good option for cheap budget
Apartment looked just like the images. The bed in the loft was REALLY comfortable (can't say for the other one as I didn't sleep in it). The apartment is conveniently located next to Madison square garden as well as having many stores within walking distance; a cvs, Starbucks, a liquor store and a few restaurants and even a club. We never met Tonya but met the owner. We were greeted by the groundskeeper Winston and had a lovely experience with him. He was very helpful and attentive. There are cameras on each floor that he watches so it was safe. There was a small elevator as well so you didn't have to drag your bags upstairs. The apartment wasn't the best quality but it was nice for the money, fairly small. There were 3 of us there so it worked nicely for us. We didn't feel unsafe or anything when we would go out at night. Only issues we had was that the ceiling was so thin we could hear whoever was upstairs running (ok maybe walking but it sounded like marathon training) early in the morning and sometimes even 2:30am. It would wake us up at times. There was a nice terrace we could go out on and have some coffee or breakfast but it was very high and we often fell out of it (which was more comical than painful) but would suggest maybe offering a small step stool to get in and out. The owner was there when we were checking out and we were asking Winston for advice on where to get a taxi and the owner was a bit rude and just interrupted and reiterated everything Winston said. We did have a slight issue with the air conditioner, wasn't plugged in so I texted Tonya pretty late in the evening and she responded the next day after we had already talked to Winston. All in all it was a nice experience, would stay again if we had a limited budget.
