Owner info

Year Purchased: 2005

About the owner: I am a retired school teacher and college administrator in love with the western North Carolina mountain communities around Boone. I spent my childhood in Ohio, raised my family of 5 children in Michigan and lived and worked in Chicago for 20 years before retirement. As a mid-westerner I especially enjoy our wonderful mountain climate; warmer in Winter, cooler in Summer and so so beautiful in Spring and Fall.

Why the Owner Chose Boone, NC, USA:
I have always been attracted to older homes, with large trees on the property, and enjoy returning them to their intended grace and beauty. We bought this tired, older log cabin in 2005 and spent 3 years restoring it to its current condition. I love being an Inn Keeper and sharing my home and its beautiful setting with our guests and my family when they can come for a visit. In addition to the upper cabin with its 4 bedrooms, 2 baths, etc, there is a separate apartment on the lowest level which is where I live when I am not traveling.

The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
This property used to be a Christmas tree farm - the trees now tower over 70 feet and provide a year round green buffer from the local roads that make getting to points of interest easy and convenient. I like sitting on the hill next to the cabin and looking at the profile of Grandfather Mountain. It's a great way to start the day with a cup of coffee and an even better way to unwind after a busy day of mountain activity or just sightseeing our beautiful mountain area.
