About the property

Cabin, 4 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 3 Baths, (Sleeps 8-10)

Uplands Farm offers a peaceful and fun getaway for up to ten people on 43 acres at the base of Hogback Mountain, just 15 minutes northwest of Lexington. The compound of three finished buildings and granary barn are nestled in a wooded, private mountain hollow surrounded by well-maintained grounds and gardens. Furnishings include a large collection of local art, period furniture and antique tools. Both young and old will discover a wide range of indoor and outdoor activities to fill the time.

Uplands Farm provides a perfect base of operations for a group of up to five couples for a parents’ weekend, homecoming, reunion, graduation or other special occasion. It is also a great place to host indoor or outdoor events, such as a dinner parties, cookouts, cocktail parties or country gatherings, for modest-sized groups.

The Cabin was built in 1813 from hand-hewn chestnut, hickory, oak and poplar logs harvested onsite. Magnificently restored and updated through the years, the interior features heart pine floors reclaimed from a local barn and custom cabinetry made from nine different species of wood by a former owner, who was a master cabinetmaker and wood artisan. The combination kitchen and dining area can comfortably seat up to ten for meals. There are two large bedrooms and two full baths. The living room includes a queen-sized pullout sofa. Guests can also relax with a book or drink in the rocking chairs on the front porch or on the comfortable screened-in back porch. New as of 2013 is Miller's Pavilion-- a 500-square-foot addition to the Cabin featuring local stonework, antique barn wood and an outdoor fireplace, including a sitting area and dining table for eight-- a perfect place to relax and enjoy the surroundings.

The Barn is the former owner’s cabinetmaking shop that has been converted into a 2000 square foot game room. There is also a bedroom with a queen-sized bed and a full bath. The game room contains a bar area, a chestnut farm table that seats ten, a home theatre area with comfortable leather furniture, as well as billiards, ping pong, shuffleboard, air hockey, foosball, darts, backgammon, and more fun activities. The maple floor is reclaimed from the old basketball court at a local high school. The ash mantle comes from a tree once owned by George Washington.

Scott’s Addition is a rustic one-room cabin that provides ultimate privacy. It features a queen-sized bed and has a terrific front porch with comfortable rocking chairs from which to enjoy the natural surroundings and abundant wildlife. While equipped with electrical service, guests will rely on the other buildings for plumbing.
