We had a great Memorial Day weekend visiting the Russian River and staying at The Lollipop for our second time... the canoes are a great way to spend the afternoon and the deck overlooking the river is the perfect spot to unwind before relaxing in the hot tub. We can't wait to get back!

Cozy with Amazing Water Access

  • 5 of 5

The deck and dock are the best part of this place. The deck is huge and looks across the river to the redwoods. The dock is pretty amazing. Looking east you don't seen any signs of civilization. The water was warm and I would jump right off the dock to go swimming every day. The water is pretty deep, couldn't touch the bottom. The water quality was good and there's a ton of fish in it. You can see them while on the dock. There was a group of river otters that would poop on the dock, but their cuteness more than made up for it. An osprey would camp out in a tree across the river and catch fish. Lots of herons and other birds too. The buzzards made me a bit nervous about the safety of my small dog. One issue with the dock is that it's not a simple stroll to get down there, it's steep and a portion of it is a perforated metal ramp (wear shoes and hold on tight!). The metal ramp was a bit sketchy after it got rained on.

Very quiet, you do hear cars but are far enough from the main highway that they're not too noticeable. The most irritating thing was some construction that happened next door for one day. Construction aside, everyone seems to want to keep things quiet here, which I love. If you want to be loud, just stay in the city, this is not the place for you.

This place has lots of windows but no air conditioning and could get uncomfortable when it's really hot. Guess there's always the river to jump in.

Hot tub worked just fine. Outdoor shower is awesome. WiFi worked great. The house is tiny, but it's comfy including the bed and the couch.

Camano Island, Wa

Great view

The cabin was adequate. Loved the view but it could have been cleaner. We would probably stay there again.

It was nice.

  • 3 of 5

We enjoyed the place.

The managing company was great.

We had a couple problems with the tv internet. They came out and fixed it.

The dock appears a lot closer on the photos.

If you have knee, back, or handicapped, the dock is too hard to get to. Very steep stairs. And A LOT of them.

It is dog friendly, yet the stairs are quite dangerous for them. First day we went to the dock, the only day, my dog sliced his foot on the lower metal part to get to the dock.

There are big holes. He got his foot caught and screamed bloody murder.

It was not too bad but it was bleeding.

I had to pick the dogs up over that part.

Too much work!!

We did catch one fish.

The beavers poop all over the dock and boats. Therefore, we did not use the boats. It was too hard to clean a boat floating in water.

We cleaned the dock of the poop. Kinda gross. But, still fun and beautiful.

It is a rustic cabin. Take note of that!

No dish washer or garbage disposal.

The highway is kinda loud.

There is no side walk.

So, walking the dogs is not advised.

We finally found the BEACH they talk of on the last day.

It was a beautiful short hike once we drove around trying to find it!!

My dog drank a bunch of water.

As she finished we noticed a warning sign stating DO NOT LET DOGS DRINK THE WATER!!!!!!

O. M. G. But, she is fine.

Overal, the place is nice.

But, when we come back, I will look for a place closer to the water.

No 3 fights PLUS metal part of stairs.

My husband and myself have some spine issues. Not recommended.

But, to sit and drink wine on the deck... THAT WAS AWESOME!

We loved the surroundings areas. Took a few trips to the beach towns. Plus winery.

Love the Rombauer winery the best.

Owner's Response: Thank you Kathy for the review and feedback for Lollipop. We’re always happy to help and glad you enjoyed your stay! Like most homes with docks in this area, access requires navigating stairs, ramps, and floating docks, and there can also be wildlife visitation of the not so lovely kind. That said, we are so sorry your canine companion was injured! We will check out dock access and make sure there is nothing specifically problematic for future doggie guests. It does sound as though a place with fewer stairs would work better for you, so my suggestion would be to make sure you confirm the stair situation when you rent again. Thanks again! -Rachel, Russian River Getaways
