The Stonehouse Cabin is nestled on 10 acres in a beautiful forest of Pine, Oak, and Cedar trees on the edge of the small town of Burney, California. The cabin-architectural style and the welcoming front porch disguise the luxurious interior of this home built in 2008. While it feels like you are in the forest, the location is very central and within walking distance of pools, parks, and shopping. It is ideal for families, fishing enthusiasts, couples, etc.

The cabin features the latest in modern conveniences while maintaining a classic 'cabin' feel. From the beautiful stone fireplace, to the hardwood pine floors to the rustic wood railing, the decor and amenities make guests feel right at home. The downstairs area features the living room, kitchen, dining area, Master bedroom (king size bed), second bedroom (twin bed) and bathroom. The upstairs loft has two twin beds (which can be converted to a king)and a full bathroom. An additional guest room (queen bed) with 1/2 bathroom is located off of the 2-car garage and can sleep 2 more guests. There is an inviting front porch where you can sit and take in the beautiful surroundings.

Located in the heart of the Shasta-Cascade region, The Stonehouse Cabin is a great 'base camp' location for the many outdoor activities offered in the area. The town of Burney is located near the recreational areas of Lassen Volcanic National Park, Mt. Shasta, and Macarthur Burney Falls Memorial State Park. The cabin is only 15 minutes from Burney Falls!

Possible recreational activities include fly fishing, boating, bait fishing, kayaking, water skiing hiking, biking, golfing, cross country and downhill skiing and snowmobiling, in addition to spectacular site-seeing in the surrounding areas.

The Stonehouse cabin is perfect for families with small children, couples vacations, fishermen groups, and adults just wanting a retreat in a beautiful mountain setting.

The center of town is just a short walk away. Burney offers convenient shopping, restaurants, and even a movie theatre. Just steps away from the Stonehouse Cabin is the Burney Community pool, a neighborhood park and the high school play field.

So come enjoy the beautiful, serene nature setting of the Stonehouse Cabin. You will truly have a vacation to remember!

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a great time! The cabin was perfect and we got to spend a lot of time at Mt Shasta, Lassen National Park and Burney Falls. It was a great adventure. Thank you so much for building such a great place and choosing to share it with others. We'll definitely be back!

Our family really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful cabin! We hope to come back next year.

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is in a great location. It feels isolated but is less than 2 miles away from a Safeway store. We enjoyed hiking at Burney Falls and in Lassen Volcanic National Park and fishing in spring-fed Hat Creek and Fall River. The Burney area is a paradise for the outdoor enthusiast.

The cabin is very well appointed, comfortable, and even has a garage! Dotty answered my emails in a timely manner and was a pleasure to do business with. She explains how to access the cabin in an email just prior to arrival and then has instructions for the cabin's use just inside the front door. All of the details were well thought out; easy to follow and made the stay enjoyable. I hope to return next year. I would definitely recommend this property to others.

Memorial Weekend -Great Stay

  • 4 of 5

We stayed in this beautiful home in the woods with our kids.

Very clean and nice and spacious. Kids had a really good time at this property surrounded by beautiful trees (pine, cedar etc). A lot of bike riding. Not far from Burney Falls and other great fishing lakes. Will definitely consider this property for future.

The only drawback is that, there is no washer and dryer at this property.

Owner's Response: We are so glad you enjoyed your stay. It sounds as if you took advantage of all the wonderful outdoor activities and adventures nearby- Burney Falls, Larsen Natl Park and nature hikes in a beautiful setting. Most of the stays at our property are 3 to 4 days so laundry facilities onsite are not essential. There is a nearby laundromat for emergencies. We would love to have you back again!

hidden gem

  • 5 of 5

We fell in love with this house! It’s totally secluded yet about a mile from anything in town. We have quite a bit of family in Burney and I think the farthest someone had to travel was 1.6 miles to come visit. It’s a great house for a family and kids. Lots of space for them to run around and ride their bikes. We roasted a 22 lb Turkey in the kitchen and had a wonderful late Easter dinner. It was just perfect. We had a hard time leaving and we can’t wait to come back! Thank you!!

Nice and quiet. Well appointed. Clean.

  • 4 of 5

I took my family to this area because my parents had explored here when I was a child. We really enjoyed our time here. The house has all that you need for a relaxing stay. Nice comfortable setting. If there was one negative for us it was the seating in the family room. The seating is not 'loungey?' ( is that a word?:). There were just three of us and we could not sit lazily by the fire or tv. When we travel we do like to take time to just veg a few days. A deeper sofa and maybe a sectional that would go from the fireplace to the front door would really complete this hideaway. If that happens we would definitely book this property again, and refer others to this gem. Thanks for a great stay.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your review. We're glad you had a good time and that you enjoyed showing your family the Burney that you remember from years ago. We appreciate your comments about the seating arrangement in the family room. We have been considering adding another larger sofa to the room for some time, and now we are motivated to do so! We hope you will come back again to see the changes!

Beautiful home tucked away in the woods

  • 5 of 5

The home was very charming and clean with all the modern conveniences. We enjoyed our weekend away and felt like we were in a forrest. Yes, there is a school and field to the far left but during our time there, when school was out, we had nothing bu peace and quiet. Even the sprinklers on the field could barely be heard outside and not at all inside. This is a great place to stay if you want to explore Burney Falls or Mt. Lassen park.
