Lake Leelanau Waterfront

Bedrooms 3
Space 1,100 sq ft
Property type house
Minimum Stay 4 - 7 nights

About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 6-8)

South Lake Leelanau just outside Traverse City is the Best of Both Worlds - a sought after Fishing Lake and an All-Water Sports Lake. Lake Leelanau, being a natural spring fed lake that flows into Lake Michigan at the dam in Leland, is simply beautiful in itself. Sleeping Bear Dunes is a short drive from the cottage and won 2011 GMA 'Most Beautiful Place in America' contest.

There is nothing like sitting on the deck while sipping your morning coffee and catching the sun's first glistening rays of the day peek across the lake. Watch the kids swim right out in front of the cottage 20 feet to the water, while the guys troll for a walleye.

We spent $9000.00 in Spring 2010 updating the cottage, taking out walls in kitchen, new flooring, and new windows. Winter 2011 we remodeled the bathroom, installed new tile, cabinets, pocket door to improve the bathroom.

You will feel right at home in our cottage with a TV, DVD,VCR, Cable, Internet Connection, a well equipped kitchen, newer stove Maytag Gemini double oven. You'll love our 20 x 25' deck that faces the lake stacked with seating, chairs and newer gas grill. There is also a lawn swing by the shoreline. Nice sandy lake bottom swimming area no rocks or muck.

We put out 120 feet of dock and it's shallow and a hard sandy bottom all the way past the dock - wonderful for swimming and just playing in the water! Drag a chair around the fire pit for an evening campfire by the lake.

Bring your boat and tie up to our dock. The public boat ramp is just 2 miles north of the cottage. There are several spots to travel to by boat (or car). Lakeside at Perrins Landing is fun to stop or gas, get a Coney dog or a long beach. Dick's in Lake Leelanau is always a must for lunch or supper. And a trip to Lake Leelanau would never be complete without the trip to Leland for ice cream/shop/eat!

We are sure you will fall in love with Lake Leelanau too!

About Dan

Traverse City Michigan area is wonderful year round, with several sports to keep you busy

Dan purchased this house in 1994

Why Dan chose Cedar

Great location, waterfront home with nice sandy lake bottom and clear water. Nice vacation area near winery, and remote country area. Watch out for the deer, turkey, ducks, fox while driving in the area! Yet 20 min drive to major city of Traverse City MI with all the shopping needed. You can also head the other direction to remote 'fish town' of Lealand on lake Michigan, the Sleeping Bear Dunes are just a short drive away and won the 2011 Good Morning America 'Most Beautiful Place in America' contest.

What makes this house unique

Watch the sunrise over the lake from the living room of our home. Nice area to take a morning walk, run or bike and get ready for the day. Well off any main road and away from traffic on a private road.

Great Location on Leelanau

  • 5 of 5

Enjoyed our stay here very much, clean house, on a private road so away from it all, nice sandy beach for Frisbee, floating, etc. We moored our Pontoon at the dock and really enjoyed this lake, it was more peaceful than Torch and Fish Town was very nice at the Leland north end of the lake. The gas grill on the deck was great for our evening meals, you can cook and watch the lake on the shady east facing deck and enjoy the sun rises. Had a nice fire in the fire pit one evening also, there were no mosquitoes around. Would recommend this house for families with kids and pets.

Good experience!

  • 4 of 5

We love this area of Michigan, and besides Lake Leelanau, loved how close we were to Good Harbor Beach, and beaches in Sutton's Bay. House was clean and neighbors were quiet. Easy to find. We enjoyed our stay!

Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

This was our 2nd time staying here, and 4th time on Lake Leelanau. The owner is great and so is the cottage and lakefront. Plenty of sleeping room, living space indoor/outdoor, and lakefront is sandy shallow out past dock allowing safe play area for the kids. Close to town for shopping, with access to the world if needed via wifi. We had the perfect 7 day stay, with the owner allowing an extra day at the end due to no subsequent renters. Will never go anywhere else as long as he has the availability. Cant wait to go back!

Great location! Needs a new cleaning crew

  • 3 of 5

This property was an ideal location for our family wedding.

The view of the lake was fantastic.

The photos are an accurate portrait of the place.

BUT- was very disappointed that the first thing we had to do was clean up after the last tenants.

After calling the owner, we found out that the last tenenats chose not to pay the cleaning fee and were going to clean themselves. We had to clean out a full fridge and wipe down all of the counters and table. This did not take care of the small hairs on all of the couches. It looked like there was a dog in the house. The beds were also covered in dog hair and a few insects. The owner needs to get a better cleaning crew to do a thorough cleaning. If that is done, It would be a wonderful place to visit.

I would recommend this if you want to stay right on the lake.

It is 45 minutes from Traverse City and 30 minutes from Sutton Bay.

We chose this property because of the location and the price.

It satisfied both.

Just wish it was cleaner.

Owner's Response: Reviewed cleaning issues with our cleaning service to make sure they are covering all areas of the house. We offer an outside cleaning service between each stay. We also give the client staying the option to clean themselves upon exiting. We generally do not have many problems with the condition of our home, and apologies for any issues you had. We will continue to strive to make sure things are done well after each stay!
