Bormes as well as our home are not a place for person with limited mobility. The home has three floors connected with a typical village tile winding stairway. Bormes is a hill village.
Trash: deposit your trash bags in one of the village trash collection places. The village prides itself on cleanliness and all guests are implored to participate in preservation of the clean village environment. You will find trash containers near the fountain across the street from the bakery.
Bakery: the bakery is two minutes from the house and has hot fresh bread and croissants everyday starting at 7:00 a.m.
Post Office: The Post Office is across the street from Pierre Toesca St.
Food and local wines: are all excellent!
Art: Rene Terras and his wife Vivette Terras are good friends of ours. Rene makes beautiful pottery, say “bonjour” from us if you go visit their shop in Pierrefeu.
There is a lot more to do: swim in the Mediterranean sea in the summer, only 15 minutes away by car, play golf at Valcros, hike the hills above Bormes, visit the islands and so on. You will find more information in our ACTIVITIES IN AND AROUND BORMES-LES-MIMOSAS that we leave in the living-room.
Finally, a housekeeper will stop by the day of your arrival to check if everything is fine. She will be your local contact and clean the house at the end of your stay.
I am French, married to an American. I live half in France and in Washington DC. I am now retired. I love to read, travel, spend time with family and friends.
This is a village home where I spend vacation with my family as a child. I love the beautiful village of Bormes.
Bormes is an unique historic hill village, known for its beauty, its flowers, its proximity to the sea.It is a 10 minutes drive from the beautiful sandy beaches of Estagnol and Pellegrin ornate with pine trees for shade. It is a 10 minutes drive from the quaint Le Lavandou with its port, its shops and gorgeous sandy beaches.
The beaches are beautiful and in the summer the water is very warm. In the winter, the village is very quiet, it is a good time to walk around and read.
The house was better than I expected...We discovered too late that we enjoyed Bormes more than rushing off to Monaco, Nice, St Tropez...I thoroughly enjoy going to the bakery each morning before every one else is up and combining with my finds from the market.
The house was the perfect place to relax and use as our home base for a week whether we just wandered the village or drove and explored the region. Bormes is such a charming village with lovely, helpful people everywhere. The flowers and views around every turn were amazing. The house was comfortable and cozy and had everything we needed. I would definitely return if I get back to the Cote d'Azur!
The days I spent in Bormes at this home resulted in the most refreshing, renewing experience of my life. I cannot wait to go back.
This is much more than a 'get away' vacation. It is a grounded, real-village, real-home experience that makes you rethink the way you live your life. I'm not a poetic artsy person. I'm a grounded midwestern American who is only moved by experiences every once in a great while. This location caused that to happen.
The village is beautiful and like something out of a fairy tale. The beach is relaxing and close. All the food is fantastic. The home is cozy and cool in the summer. The shops are cute. Cafe's are relaxing and I found myself in interesting conversations with locals each night talking about movies, food, and of course... romance (it's France).
I can't believe the place was that affordable.
I absolutely fell in love with Bormes-les-Mimosas, a village deemed as one of the floweriest villages in the South of France. What made it more memorable was staying in this charming Provencal 3-level home -- I went with a friend and we loved it! A typical day would include walking to the boulangerie (2 mn walk), go to the marché in the village (10mn walk) and buy local produce and then cook at home, which has a small yet adorable kitchen with a nice view. One of my favorite rooms in the house was on the bottom level, it is beautifully appointed and is cooler at night. Also close by to this house are beautiful sandy beaches (great snorkeling), one of them even houses the President's summer residence, and delicious wineries (you will discover some of the best rosés from this region). If you want to stay in a place that will allow you to create memories as a local, I highly recommend this rental house. Already looking forward to returning.
My husband and I spent 8 days in Bormes-Les-Mimosas and found the home and village to be breathtaking. We were able to leave our busy and stressful lives in Chicago and just relax on the beaches minutes away from Bromes! We enjoyed taking day trips to places such as St. Tropez and Cannes. After doing intense research, balancing prices and location, this house was the ideal spot for us. We enjoyed the beauty and modernization inside the home; specifically the bathrooms with great water pressure and normal showers. The bedrooms were also spacious but more importantly the beds were comfy! We will be back!!!
