About the property

Villa, 5 Bedrooms, 4 Baths, (Sleeps 10)

Pergolaccio a stone farmhouse located just ten minutes from Todi, is situated on three acres of olive groves atop a hill over looking breathtaking views of the unspoiled Umbrian countryside and farmland. The area immediately surrounding the house is planted with an herb garden, flowering bushes and vines and over 50 varieties of antique roses. There is a shady pergola where you can dine outside, a wood burning barbecue and pizza oven and a vegetable and cutting garden bordered by a grape arbor and fruit orchard. The swimming pool is nearby, but not visible from the house. The pool is located on the old threshing ground and takes in magnificent views out over the valley. There are two spacious master suites, with ensuite bathrooms. Three double bedrooms share a full bath. There is also a full bath located off of the ground floor living room.

The master suite, located on the second floor, incorporates a sitting area with fireplace, private terrace, and full bath with double sinks, bath and shower all decorated with hand painted tiles from Vietri.

Also on this floor are two double bedrooms, one with two twin beds and one with a queen size bed. These two bedrooms share a full bath.

The top floor is reached by a staircase from the 2nd level. Here two twin beds and book lined walls make this a very comfortable, and private, bedroom. This room shares the bath on the 2nd floor.

The second master suite is reached from it's own separate entrance and is located at the lowest level of the house. A linen draped canopy bed makes this one of the most romantic rooms in the house. There is a sitting area, TV, phone and full bath.

heaven on earth

  • 5 of 5

we have just returned to the US after a month at Pergolaccio and are in mourning: the wonderfully restored farmhouse with its huge beams, the perfect terrace overlooking the Umbrian landscape, the refreshing pool, fruit trees of every kind and the kind caring of the housekeeper and her husband, the gardener. It was a magical stay, with respective (adult) children and grandkids rotating through. Everyone loved it. Owners' recommendations are excellent and we enjoyed their well appointed kitchen and abundance of Deruta ware; the proximity of the delightful town of Todi for passigato and gelato make it all a winner.

Wonderful Villa in Umbria

  • 5 of 5

Spent a week here this Summer, the Villa is as perfect as you will find, exactly like the photos, full of atmosphere and enormous charm, the owners have done a great restoration.

The area is full of small hillside towns and lovely local wineries, the mistake we made was doing too much running around, when just relaxing at this amazing villa was the most

enjoyable experience. Use the owners recommendations for local chefs/restaurants and

you will not go wrong.

Highly recommended.

What's not to love about Pergolaccio....

  • 5 of 5

We spent 2 delightful weeks with 2 other couples in this great villa outside of Todi. Beautiful countryside, Great kitchen; well-suited for cooking the local fare. We ended up eating most of our dinners at the villa, either taking advantage of the outdoor eating area or the comfortable farmhouse table located just off of the kitchen. Early morning walks to quaint hillside villages; afternoon swims in beautifully tiled pool after a day of intense sightseeing. Great living room; in the evenings we hung out there watching movies and sharing stories about the day's events. The owner provided us with great recommendations regarding what to see, where to eat, and a local chef who prepared dinner for us, in addition to arranging a bike tour, horseback riding and a winery tour and wine-tasting. Took advantage of the fig trees on the property and the pizza oven; turned out several fig and cheese pizzas. We thought we had died and gone to heaven!!

A week in {culinary} paradise

  • 5 of 5

We had a fabulous time at Pergolaccio this spring and returned with so many amazing travel memories:

waking up to the breathtaking vista of Tiber Valley and surrounding Umbria hills, afternoon walks to the neighboring hill towns, long evenings on the patio watching the sun go down - along with the occasional escape from this paradise to explore the gorgeous sights of Umbria {Bevagna, Assisi, Orvieto & Civita di Bagnoregio are not far and should not be missed}.

With an amazing kitchen and gorgeous outdoor setting, we barely ventured into civilization to eat out and instead still think back to simple summer meals enjoyed with local wines and an amazing view ...

If there weren't so many travel destinations on our bucket list, we would love to return someday ...

Owner's Response: Thanks for your great review. You'll be happy to know that the inside has been repainted. And the living room is the cozy place to be in the cold weather, with the fireplace going. But in summer, it's all about being outside, under the leafy pergola, as you point out.

As advertised

  • 5 of 5

I have stayed several times at Il Pergolaccio, first back in 1997 and several times after, with friends. I always recommend this home, it is beautiful and feels real. Great for good weather holiday, maybe not as good for cold or winter vacations, as the main living room in somewhat dark and has no real views. Good to stay at with friends, three or four couples could fit comfortably and privately. Excellent location for those that have already seen Tuscan "greatest hits" and what to explore Umbria, easily just as beautiful and interesting ... and nearby anyway if you want to throw in some Tuscany into your Umbria holiday. Pool has great views, and outside pergola and patio is where you would spend most of your time, also with great views. You even have church bells every evening, just as in the movies :) Definitely recommend and stay again. My only suggestion would be a coat of paint here and there, but that is fairly personal.
