Come and escape it all!

Majestic eagles, white swans, ducks, chipmunks and squirrels are just a few of the wildlife you'll enjoy watching from the wrap around deck overlooking 120' of extremely private waterfront. Listen to the loons call as you enjoy your coffee in the mornings. Take a boat trip around East Lake and catch an abundance of fish! The Lake has pike, perch, bluegills, and bass. Our shoreline starts out ankle depth and sandy for the little ones, and gradually gets deeper about 12' from shore. Swim out to the carpeted raft and sunbathe the afternoon away. You can also get adventurous and do some water skiing, boating, sailing or canoeing on our all sports lake. There's a public boat launch for your vessel, and we have a 36' dock for convenience. There's fantastic fishing right off the dock. For the hiking enthusiast, there are endless miles of trails to discover. Ask about the 23 waterfalls you can explore - all within 45 minutes of the Retreat. In the winter, ride three minutes to gas up and hit the hundreds of miles of snowmobile trails that are waiting! We even have extra overflow parking for your big rigs. Large groups? Ask us about our other 5 star rentals available to accommodate your group - all within 2 minutes of each other. Or, spend a day ice fishing on the lake. It's simply excellent all season fun.

This home is fully stocked with everything you'll need - from towels and linens to pots and pans. Enjoy practicing your culinary skills at the 7' x 6' island while you view the lake. If you don't feel like cooking - there is a family restaurant within walking distance. You can also walk to the mini grocery store and gas station nearby. There are four bedrooms in total. The master loft bedroom has a queen size log bed and its own 4 piece bath. One of the main floor bedrooms has a queen bed, and the other main floor bedroom has 2 bunk beds that have double beds on the bottom and twin beds on top, and our newest addition to the home is the fourth bedroom - a large 'Slumberjack Suite' complete with a new king log bed, rustic furnishings and your own private fireplace. This bedroom is located in the lower level - making it darker, cooler and quieter for those who want to catch up on their zzzz's. All of the beds have new, quality, comfortable mattresses and linens. Want to just get away from the gang? Hang out in the beautifully finished family room - complete with its own cozy fireplace and a 50" flat screen tv - all the better to watch the games on!

If you're in the mood for sightseeing - there is plenty to do! Take in Taquamenon Falls, Oswalds Bear Ranch, The Tahquamenon Logging Museum, Lakeshore National Park & Pictured Rocks, The Toonerville Trolley, the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum or the Crisp Point Lighthouse - just to name a few. Or, hop a fairy to Mackinac Island - it's only a 60 minute drive from the house. Lastly, don't forgot to play a round at the 18 hole Newberry Country Club Golf Course.

At the end of the day, lay on one of the lounge chairs down by the lake and savor the gorgeous sunset. Then finish off with a cozy bonfire where you'll recount all of the memories made in this wonderful northern retreat.

About The Owner

Our names are Randy and Barb Graham. We've owned the East Lake Retreat since 2003. We actually got married right in our home, and took advantage of the gorgeous setting for our wedding pictures! We are avid outdoors people - enjoying boating, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling and all that nature has to offer.

The Owner purchased this house in 2003

Why The Owner chose

The UP is simply the perfect place to be to enjoy the outdoors. We live in a larger city down state, and we just can't WAIT to get back to our East Lake Retreat! It's either adventure or relaxation at it's best - just whatever you're in the mood for! If you're looking to shop at the big malls, this is NOT the place to visit. :-)

What makes this house unique

Fishing, relaxing by the water and night time bonfires are our all time favorite things to do at the retreat. In the winter, it's our snowmobile heaven! We've made many fabulous memories here, and we hope that we can pass the opportunity along for you and your family to make your memories here too!

Perfect UP vacation home

  • 5 of 5

We had a perfect vacation at your retreat! Except for one rain day, the weather was perfect. We loved to kayak, fish (boat or dock), and swim. The fire pit and chairs were awesome. There was so much room for our extended family.

The UP decor was awesome!! Every little detail in every room! Beautiful! The home was immaculate.

Meals at the retreat were so relaxing, whether eating on the deck, (which we did majority of the time) or inside the kitchen, the views of the lake were beautiful. We loved the huge kitchen island, and it was very well stocked.

All our sightseeing excursions were nearby, and so nice not to battle traffic to get to them. Taquamenon Falls, Picture Rocks, Soo Locks were all amazing.

We definitely will come back. Thank you for a perfect vacation!!

Great U.P. Vacation

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful experience! The rental was immaculate and well appointed with quality furnishings. It fit our extended family's needs to a tee. The owner and property manager were very helpful, even launching our boat for us. We were able to travel to Pictured Rocks, Taquamenon Falls, Muskalunge Lake and even took the kids to see the bears at Oswald Ranch. The sunsets were gorgeous and the fishing was very successful. We caught fish every day off the dock and on our boat, mostly largemouth bass and small pikes. Would highly recommend this rental.

Nearly Perfect

  • 4 of 5

Our party arrived mid afternoon on a beautiful day and we found the accommodations very comfortable. We spent much of our time traveling. The young adults played basketball, read and had bon fires. The lake is peaceful, but don't assume you can wade or really swim, a boat/kayak would be ideal. The balusters on the deck are not (current) regulation as my year old grandson found out; at 30 lbs, his whole body nearly went thru so we had to keep him in his bounce seat. . Kitchen had everything but a chef. Virtually no bugs was a plus as we heard horror stories about the black flies. My only disappointment was the deck light; we Love to stargaze and watch satellites and that light made it impossible, even at the end of the dock. I assume it was for safety. We all...ages 1 yr to 84 found our stay delightful. Thanks Barb for being so available.

Owner's Response: I am so sorry that this family did not review our Welcome Binder at the East Lake Retreat. The Welcome Binder outlines all information - including where the light switch is for the deck lights. It also has our phone number clearly stated in the event there are questions or issues. I'm not sure what our guests were referring to regarding swimming and wading, as our family (as well as our many guests) have enjoyed swimming at the dock area as well as swimming out to our raft. (See the review two reviews below titled "Great Place for the Family") A boat could have also been easily arranged with a quick call to me. What we ARE happy about, however, is that our East Lake Retreat staff was able to search and find our senior guests beloved rosary that was a gift to her from her pastor. Hopefully this family can savor the great memories that they made at the East Lake Retreat.

First VRBO experience was a smashing success!

  • 5 of 5

This was our first VRBO experience. The East Lake Retreat set the bar extremely high. It was an absolutely wonderful family vacation. At the end of the week with our daughters, sons-in-law and their families (4 granddaughters from 7 months-6 years) none of us wanted to leave. We were completely impressed by the attention to detail and personal touches in this home; from the very appropriate and lovely northern/cabin themed décor, the quality of the bed linens and towels provided, the skewers for marshmallows at the campfire pit to the perfectly stocked and appointed kitchen. A hat tip is more than appropriate to those whose responsibility it is to maintain this home. It was immaculate!

The location was perfect for all the day trips we took: Soo Locks, Tahquamenon Falls, Mackinac Island, Pictured Rocks and the list goes on. There was so much to see and do, we could have used another several days to enjoy and bask in the beauty of the Retreat itself. The owner was a joy to work with; any inquiry was clearly and promptly answered. We love to visit new places, but it will be a challenge to find accommodations that compare to the East Lake Retreat. Feel confident about a decision to rent this beautiful property.

Great place for the Family!

  • 5 of 5

This was our first VRBO vacation. The East Lake Retreat was wonderful. We have already reserved another VRBO because our experience at this house and property. The property is as beautiful as the description. Sunsets were great, Having coffee and listening to Loons on the lake in the morning. Humming birds at the feeder. The grand kids had fun swimming in the lake and jumping off the raft. We had a lot of fun fishing off the dock. The kids actually caught and cooked fish. The property manager was very helpful. The Pictured Rocks, Soo Locks and Tahquamenon Falls were perfect day trips from the retreat.

S'Mores at the camp fire every night! What more could you ask for?

We stayed at the lake retreat this summer and couldn't get over how wonderful it was! The home, yard, and entire property was so clean, neat and organized. The owners have truly thought of everything, you really feel at home here and it's so reasonably close to so many wonderful things in the UP! We did a lot during our week stay bit enjoyed fishing, relaxing, cooking and campfires at the house the most. The perfect getaway ❤️
