Stay in a private, gated villa only 10 minutes from the antique capital of Italy, Arezzo. This 13th century property has been beautifully preserved and enjoy the tranquility of nature with views too spectacular to describe.
This stone house has been standing for hundreds of years and promises to deliver a relaxing vacation only locals have been able to enjoy, until now...Just driving up the narrow street up through woods and local olive gardens delivers you to the front gate of the property.
Upon viewing the all stone structure, you will feel the strength and security of the antique doors which enter this villa.
The multi level structure provides a unique floor plan which allows for privacy in each part of the house.
The lower level has a large, elegant living room complete with a sit-in fireplace. It also has a second sitting area with views of the property outdoor and yet another sitting area with a flat screen television and surround sound Bose system.
Two bedrooms are behind a hidden door, one with a complete bathroom and shower. Large floor to ceiling glass panels provide amazing views of the valley below. The middle or entry level provides foyer with hand painted coat wardrobe, large kitchen with indoor grill and casual dining table, and attached home office/wine room complete with authentic fresco, and powder room.
The top level of this gem has a master bedroom with authentic grand mirror at the foot of the bed and backed by an antique painting. Double doors open to more views of the valley below and attached bathroom with double sink, antique bathtub, and separate shower and toilet room.
As if the house was not enough, you will be able to enjoy walks through this large, multi level garden complete with olive trees, a private swimming pool with spectacular views, and a separate structure which has a changing room, outdoor shower, outdoor bathroom, and a private room with twin beds and it's own private bath and shower.
There is a gas Weber grill for those who enjoy cooking out on the grill.
We stayed at this villa for two weeks with our two daughters and one grand daughter. It is a beautiful location with gorgeous views. The road up is narrow but you get used to it and only about five houses use the road. All the major sights are within reach by car within two hours. We took a train to Florence because parking in Florence is horrendous. Parking in Arezzo train station is about 15 minutes from the station. Not particularly convenient but okay. The owners of the villa bend over backwards to help make your stay comfortable. They can recommend some great restaurants and we had a cook come in twice for great Tuscan dinners ( very reasonable cost). After a day of sightseeing it was lovely to come back and relax outdoors.
This wonderful home has everything one could want for a stay in Tuscany. The house is spectacular! Beautifully decorated with breathtaking views of the mountains and valleys of Arrezzo. It was just like a scene out of a movie. Even though it was a short drive from the Arezzo city center, we felt like we were miles away from everything. Waking up in the morning, to the fresh air and gorgeous panorama was a great and relaxing way to start the day. It was especially nice to be able to return to the comforts of this home in the evenings versus a drab hotel room. Because Arezzo is so centrally located, staying at this home afforded us the opportunity to visit historic neighboring cities such as Assisi and Cortona by car. The picture perfect drives through the iconic "rolling hills of Tuscany" were worth the trip alone! It was also a quick and easy train ride to Florence or Sienna. We will definitely be back!
Our family of four had the good fortune to stay in this lovely villa for one week at the beginning of August. We highly recommend this property and are hoping to return soon! We recommend this property for the following reasons:
1. Location: The house is an easy 10 minute drive from Arezzo, which is an amazing medieval town with many historical things to see. There are also many restaurants and a large, modern grocery store in town which is very convenient. From this great location, you can easily make day trips to Cortona, Assisi, Sienna and Florence.
2. Setting: We had high expectations for the property after seeing the photos online but were blown away by the beauty of the grounds and the views. The villa sits at the top of a large hill on several acres of land which contain a small grove of olive trees. The setting is so peaceful and tranquil and the views of the Tuscan landscape are truly spectacular. We loved spending time in the large pool savoring the views.
3. Historic Villa: The spacious villa has been lovingly restored to maintain it's authenticity and has ample room for a large family or for several couples. Three of the bedrooms have private baths attached and there is an additional half bath near the entry hall.
4. Helpful Owners: The rental of this villa was very easy because the owners are so helpful and accommodating. They are justifiably proud of this beautiful property and we felt like they wanted to do everything possible to make sure we had a terrific holiday in their home.
We are already planning our return trip to this Tuscan gem!
My family and friend had the joy of staying at this villa for a delightful week at the end of July this summer. Close enough to be convenient to town, but far enough for quite seclusion, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning. VERY few villas in Tuscany (10%?) have air conditioning and for anyone to tell you that ac is not important must live in the Sahara. Italy can be quite warm in the summer and when not lounging and cooling by the wonderful pool, we had the option of cranking up the ac and relaxing inside. Adam and Audrey did everything to make our stay enjoyable and if you call them, they can give you my phone number should you desire some vocal courage to stop looking and nail down a great place to relax.
Our party of five had a fabulous time in this comfortable, historic home. The views of the valley were unbelievable and we enjoyed wandering on this special property of terraced Olive trees. We enjoyed dining outside, swimming in the refreshing pool and lounging while watching the Olympics on their large flat-screen. The bedrooms were comfortable and the views beautiful from the second floor. The location was perfect for taking day trips to Cortona, Florence and Rome. We did all three. The owners were in Arezzo during our stay in their Villa and they were so helpful. We enjoyed their fabulous restaurant suggestions and they even arranged to have a lovely Italian woman give us a cooking lesson and prepare an authentic Tuscan Dinner. We loved every minute.
We were three couples that rented the villa and we were not disappointed by the description of the property by the owners. It was better than they described. The property is very well maintained with gorgeous views of the Arezzo hills and valley. The pictures on VRBO do not do justice to the property. The interior has a definite "old world" flavor and is very tastefully decorated. The owners were very helpful with getting us pointed in the right direction to enjoy the great food and wine at local restaurants. We stayed a couple of days longer at the recommendation of the owners so that we could attend the first Sunday of the month antique festival in Arezzo, and it was definitely worth it. Arezzo is located between Florence and Siena with ready access to the railway and the auotostada (freeway). You definitely need to rent a car because it is not close to the downtown area, but that is part of the great charm of the villa, being in the countryside. There is a wonderful swimming pool and patio area. We would recommend this villa to friends and family with no reservations. The grounds are beautifully manicured with lots of olive trees and rosemary hedges. The town of Arezzo holds a street market every Saturday morning and it is not to be missed. It is only an hour drive to Florence, Cortona and Pienza which makes the location ideal for day trips to various other towns in Tuscany. It is one of the best rentals we have found on VRBO so far.
