About Catherine Urban
The gracious house is my home and I love sharing it with other families. It is a very happy home filled with memories, some I'm sure dating back to the 1800's! This home was built in 1843 as a Sea Captain's home, and has also been a boarding house in the 1960's, as well as a Bed and Breakfast. My husband and I did an extensive renovation/addition is 2002, converting this gracious house to our home. My husband and I both graduated from Cornell University. We have four children - two sons out of college, our #3 son Cornell Univeristy Class of 2015, and daughter will be entering Ithaca College this fall - 2013. Renting out my lovely home is helping to make these tuition payments!

Why Catherine Urban chose Vineyard Haven
I love old homes with a history. This home has a story to tell. Walking into this home, you can feel it's warmth and blessings.
What makes this House unique
Since this home was originally built in 1843 - it is very unique! Even with the approx 3000 sq ft addition, there is plenty of the 'old house' remaining - with original wide plank flooring, original fireplaces, and beautiful molding. Many old materials were used in the new construction: ceiling tins as backspalsh in the kitchen, an old soapstone double sink in the laundry room, and antique chandeliers and wall sconces. The front porch is a lovely place to sit and watch the world walk by, the side patio is lush, and lovely and a great place to sit and enjoy a book or a nap. There are peek a boo water views from the front bedroom on the second floor, and from the third floor front bedroom and master bedroom you can see the ferry coming arriving in Vineyard Haven Harbor, as well as all the way to Cape Cod!

Very helpful owner; beautiful old home
The home worked perfectly for our 60th high school friends reunion--10 of us from Salt Lake City. Catherine could not have been more helpful. The weather could have been better but the house was perfect.
For almost two years I worked with Catherine planning my family vacation for my children and grandchildren. She was wonderful and the house far surpassed my expectations. Everything was perfect and ready when we arrived. There was not one item missing and we just had to bring ourselves and our suitcases. We make a week of special memories which will last us a lifetime. Thank you Catherine
Best rental ever.
You will never find a better, more complete, immaculate, gorgeous rental anywhere. Enjoy!
We converged on this spectacular home, again, for a reunion weekend. It couldn't have been more perfect. The comfortable, spotless rooms with cozy bedding, are just the beginning. The entire home has beautiful furnishings, superb conveniences and a perfect location. The wrap around porch, lovely patio and second story deck provide great outdoor spaces to compliment the fabulous interiors. I have recommended this property to others and can't wait for our next visit.
I recently spent 5 days at this lovely house. Four couples from across the country met here for a reunion and we had a fabulous time, due to a large extent to our stay at 92 Main Street. This house is extremely comfortable, carefully and lovingly decorated, and large enough to accommodate all of us. We originally planned for 6 couples and the house would have easily and comfortably held all 12 of us. The location on Main Street is perfect. While shops, restaurants, and the Ferry are all within easy walking distance, the house is situated so there is also a feeling of privacy. I look forward to a return stay and highly recommend 92 Main St.
Having a "scent sensitivity" requires (on my part) an enormous amount of preplanning, again on my part. However, to my delight, Catherine was more than helpful regarding scented laundry soap, soaps of every sort (hand soap, dish soap dishwasher soap, etc.), and cleaning products, providing a "scent free" environment especially for me. This requires a lot of work on behalf of the innkeeper, especially with regard to a house with seven bedrooms, different levels, and almost as many bathrooms. I had NO problem whatsoever, and I found her planning, not to mention ingenuity with signs letting folks know they were entering a "scent-free" environment, a huge, welcomed accomplishment.
Not only does this innkeeper give helpful hints with a complete description of the house and its workings, but many informational books regarding Martha's Vineyard, places of interest, restaurant info, and a very "well stocked" panty full of spices, oils/vinegars, and other staples to which we were told to just help ourselves.
My stay was delightful for so many reasons, but as an asthma sufferer, I never had to worry about finding my health affected by scent of any kind.
Couldn't have enjoyed myself more, even the desperate call for help with the "cable box" when the power went out temporarily, was met with a willing innkeeper braving the fierce wind and rain to come to our rescue! Can't thank you enough Catherine, just loved our stay!
