The Waipouli Beach Resort:

#1 in Hawaii

#7 in the US

#21 in the World

This oceanfront Luxury Kauai Resort won the prestigious Parade of Homes Award of Excellence in 2006 and is rated #1 in Hawaii by the Expedia Insiders club. With the upscale design and fine materials of a luxury hotel, this unique combination of hotel-type amenities and home amenities will enable you to experience a luxurious yet affordable vacation on the Garden Island of Kauai. Here the breezes are warm and the pace is relaxed. It is truly a vacation paradise!

A day at the Resort:

You might start your day with a golden sunrise, a cup of Hawaii-grown coffee and a candy-sweet papaya from the local farmers’ market or perhaps with a barefoot walk on the golden sands. A passerby says, 'Aloha.' A lone fisherman casts his line. A kayaker heads out to sea. As the salt air clears your mind, you realize it feels different here.

Surround yourself in the warm trade winds as you watch the shimmering waters of the Pacific and your children frolic in the 2-acre lazy-river pool. The pool winds through a lush tropical landscape complete with waterfalls, two water slides, a sand-bottom pool for young children, a 'secret' grotto, and three whirlpool spas. Enjoy a refreshing drink and a snack or a delicious dinner at the Oasis By The Beach beachfront restaurant. Treat yourself to a relaxing spa treatment at the on-site full-service Spa By The Sea. Dine on the lanai as the sun sets with its nightly display of color. Lounge in the Living room as you enjoy a full spectrum of entertainment with the flat screen television, DVD, Stereo & CD player. Retreat to one of the tropical theme Master Bedroom suites and enjoy the soothing sounds of the waves and beautiful views. Prepare a picnic lunch or a gourmet meal in a kitchen fit for a chef. Your condo is a place you will enjoy, remember, and look forward to visiting again.

Life is a vacation when you're at Waipouli Beach Resort. Activities abound, many of them available right in your own backyard: kayaking, boogie boarding, surfing, snorkeling, scuba diving, body boarding, kite surfing, the list goes on. You will find gear for many activities right in your condo. There are companies that rent other equipment and give guided tours or lessons all along the Eastside Coconut Coast. You'll want to explore Kauai's lush trails, including those along the dramatic Na Pali Coast. Hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding are just a few of the possible day's diversions. For the more adventurous, there's also hang gliding, deep-sea fishing, water-skiing and helicopter rides. All activities come with free-of-charge, breath-stealing, natural beauty. Also, while you can’t use this as an excuse every time you want to come, Kauai is a popular place to get married as well as to honeymoon.

Everything you need is within strolling distance. Coconut Marketplace, just down the road from Waipouli Beach Resort, is a treasure-filled wonderland. Kauai Village is right across the road. Wander around either one and you'll find boutiques, fine dining spots, hole-in-the-wall eateries, authentic Hawaiian shops, jewelry stores, art galleries, healing and wellness centers, grocery stores, and a pharmacy. You'll spot everything from fresh leis to fresh vegetables, aloha shirts to hibiscus soaps, and hand-carved koa bowls to handmade quilts.

Or--You might kick back and let your stress melt away in the warm sun and gentle trade winds of Kauai. Visitors sometimes have difficulty realizing they don’t have to do anything! Catamaran cruises, world-class golf courses, surfing, snorkeling, hiking, hula shows, luaus, and sight-seeing can easily use up your day. With weather that is moderate year around, (average temperatures range from 77° to 84°F) it’s OK to lie for hours on the beach or by the pool, or sit on one of your lanais and watch the surf.

Perhaps it's the natural beauty of Kauai that brings out the best in people or maybe it's the island tradition of gracious hospitality. Whatever the reason, you'll find that the people of Kauai offer a welcoming spirit of aloha that makes you feel right at home. You will fall in love with the beauty of Kauai and its people.

Let Waipouli Beach Resort F402 become your Kauai home away from home!

Come “Live aloha” on Kauai Island and pass it on!

About Kathleen

Aloha!

We're Jim and Kathleen. Jim is a retired engineer and Kathleen teaches at a local university. We're living our dream of owning a luxury condo on kauai, and we're enjoying a seemingly unlimited supply of things to see and places to go on this Island.

Come “Live aloha” on the Garden Island and pass it on!

Kathleen purchased this condo in 2007

Why Kathleen chose Coconut Coast

We have fallen in love with the Aloha spirit of Hawaii, the beauty of Kauai, and the fantastic people we meet every day. You will love the upscale design and the quality of Waipouli Beach Resort. The Eastside location is very convenient for getting to all the Kauai points of interest.

What makes this condo unique

The Eastside location of this beach resort condo is convenient to Hanalei and Princeville on the North shore as well as Poipu and Waimea in the south. Plus, Waipouli is only 8 miles from the airport! (But no plane noise!)

Our Kauai resort is situated on a gorgeous sandy beach. Shopping and fine restaurants are just across the street. A lazy river pool winds through a tropical landscape complete with waterfalls, two water slides, a sand-bottom pool for young children, a 'secret' grotto, and three whirlpool spas. A beachfront bar serves drinks, soft drinks, burgers, gourmet sandwiches, and snacks. The beach-side restaurant serves locally sourced gourmet meals and features live music in the evening.

Guestbook comments from the owner

My husband and I stayed here with his son and fiancé, and enjoyed every minute. The property was perfect for two couples, with separate master bedroom suites. The condo had everything we needed to feel like home-great kitchen, living area and lovely bedrooms and baths. We enjoyed eating breakfasts on the terrace, enjoyed the pool, beach, bar and spa at the resort, and were so well located to get anywhere on the island. We couldn't have been happier. The place was immaculate, and it was a great value. The condo had all kinds of books/videos/dvd's/beach gear, beach towels, chairs, coolers, etc. etc. etc. We couldn't think of anything we needed that was missing. There is no service in the rental to speak of

Beautiful property at gorgeous location, but...

  • 4 of 5

First, there was a reservation process. VRBO and Home Away are great resources and once we identified the property, the reservation process went smoothly with effective and efficient communication with the owners. Once the reservation was made, there was lots of good information in the Home Away app and there was good follow-up from the owners.

Second, there was the property. We were on Kauai for our granddaughter's destination wedding. With very close proximity to wedding venue, a location right on the beach and a well-appointed unit, this was a near-perfect place to stay. Our two-bedroom unit was spacious and there was a fully functioning kitchen--much appreciated. The extensive beach front of the resort provided some great photo opportunities both before and after wedding, and both during the day and into the evening. So, the resort very much complimented the romance adventure for family and friends. Overall we would most likely recommend the property as a place to stay.

However, there were some annoying negatives. At first we could not get the washing machine to work and we had counted on it so we did not pack as many clothes. We made TWO calls to the on-site property manager, but saw no results from those calls: no follow-up from him and no evidence that any attempt was made either repair the washer or provide us with more detail instructions about its operation. Finally we were able to get assistance from one of the housekeeping crew. It turned out that we had to push on the door in a specific way once it was closed to get the washer to run. We also reported to the property manager that the toilet in the secondary bedroom was leaking. Again, there was no follow-up to let us know what was done, if anything. Finally, there was a notice in the unit that the air conditioning is shut off between periods of rental to save energy which we certainly understand and support. However, the A/C was shut down on the last day of our stay several hours BEFORE we checked out. The unit got hot and uncomfortably humid while we were busy cleaning up and packing. Not a good way to end our stay.

Owner's Response: We are sorry our guests had some problems during the stay. I asked where they had complained to be able to spot the flaw in our system, but have never found out who they called with the issues. Note: the air goes off when doors are left open, and open can mean a minimal gap. Any time the door has not been closed to the point of the little click engagement, the AC will be triggered to turn off. There was nothing wrong with the AC on this day. The washer and dryer have instructions pasted on the doors and there are manuals in the unit with instructions. Again, these were fully operational during the stay. We really value the comfort of our guests and we will post even more signs to make the operation even more clear. Mahalo

I would give it five stars if the One lane roads in certain directions were not a constant issue.

  • 4 of 5

The property itself is fantastic! Our condo unit was beautiful, clean, well appointed, and stocked with items that we didn't even know we needed, until we needed them. The grounds are gorgeous, and the pool was of my favorites! Right on the beach, and we spent every night reading and watching the waves, with hardly anyone out there. We boogie boarded a few times, but the waves are a bit tricky-- I wouldn't recommend a speech for little ones, but my 16-year-old and I have no problem. Stores and restaurants right across the street, but my goodness…The traffic was horrible! Depending on what time of day, and what direction you were heading, the one lane roads made getting either direction a long drawn out process. Obviously the Hawaiian government is not interested in widening the roads to facilitate cars… And I cannot say that I disagree. It was more annoying to my husband then it was to me, but he was the one driving. I would still choose to stay here, and will refer friends and family wholeheartedly! Traffic is a bummer, but the location, The beautiful condo, grounds, and proximity to stores and restaurants more than made up for the traffic! I loved our stay here!

Well equipped, organized, and family friendly

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here with our 2.5 year old, and 4 month old and brought my mother. Our 2.5 year old slept in the pack n play provided in the Queen room with my mother. Huge bathtubs- like a swimming pool for her!! Our 4 month old stayed with us in the master, which was spacious and dual sinks is always nice! The rain shower felt so good after being at the pool! We grilled steaks on the pool grills and had dinners on the patio overlooking the pool area. We went for walks on the beach or there is a 4 mile bike/walking path just outside the resort along the water that is great! Safeway across the street was super convenient for us too. Walk across and get anything you need. Sign up for a Safeway card will save you some bucks too. All in all, this place had it all. Highly recommend, and if we come back to Kauai would stay again. We're off to check out the Northshore for the rest of our trip! Mahalo!!

Beautiful condo. Lovely resort. Perfect location.

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic stay at this spectacular condo on Kauai.

The place was spotless, beautifully furnished and stocked with everything we needed and more.

The grounds of the resort are wonderful. The grocery store across the street is especially convenient. Even the restaurant on site was great.

We found Kapa'a to be a nice central location for all the fabulous things there are to do on Kauai.

We would definitely stay again.

Thanks for a super vacation!

The Beauty of Kauai:

Kauai is known as the 'Garden Island' due to its lush green landscape. Even among the Hawaiian Islands, Kauai stands out for the natural beauty of its sculptured cliffs, cascading waterfalls, quiet lagoons and pristine beaches. The rivers and streams nourish a phenomenal abundance of trees, flowering plants and exotic birds, many species of which cannot be found anywhere else. Scenic wonders include Waimea Canyon, Hanalei Valley, Kilauea Lighthouse and wildlife refuge, Fern Grotto, many stunning beaches and, for the courageous, Kalalau Valley, a favorite Kauai camping spot.

You’ve probably seen more of Kauai than you realize, and an excursion from your condo toward the north shore might surprise you as you pass the scene where stampeding dinosaurs nearly stomped the humans in “Jurassic Park”. Kauai has been used as a location for movies set in Brazil, Korea, Vietnam, Africa, and even Mars.

Much of the island is untouched by human development, and you can explore it by foot, boat, plane or helicopter. The Waimea Canyon, “the grand canyon of the pacific”, the rocky NaPali Coast, and the beautiful Hanalei Valley offer breathtaking vistas. Or, you can simply drive through whispering palm groves, rolling hills and quaint villages. Perhaps you'll take advantage of some of the world's finest beaches, golf courses and restaurants. Or you might go hiking, surfing, snorkeling, hiking, bicycling, kayaking, ziplining, horseback riding, or just driving among Kauai's unrivaled natural splendors. Possibilities for exploring the outdoor treasures on Kauai are unlimited. We keep a list of things we want to do and it keeps getting longer even though we try to do some of them whenever we can.

Or--You might kick back and let your stress melt away in the warm sun and gentle trade winds of Kauai. You may have difficulty realizing you don’t have to do anything! Catamaran cruises, world-class golf courses, surf, snorkeling, hiking, hula shows, luaus, and sight-seeing can easily use up your day. With weather that is moderate year around, it’s OK to lie for hours on the beach, or sit on one of your lanais and watch the surf. Also, while you can’t use this as an excuse every time you want to come, Kauai is a popular place for weddings as well as to spend a Hawaii honeymoon.

Kauai's East Side,The Royal Coconut Coast:

The Waipouli Beach Resort in Kapaa Hawaii is located on the 'Coconut Coast'. Kauai's East Side is a region filled with history and culture. The landscape includes large groves of coconut trees and Wailua is a sacred and significant place for the ancient Hawaiian “ali’i” (royalty). Take advantage of all its offerings -- the Wailua River State Park, Fern Grotto, Wailua Falls, and other gems. Opaekaa Falls is an unforgettable photo op. A historic restored Hawaiian village lies on the riverbanks.

Be sure to find time for a leisurely stroll through Historic Kapaa Town and its funky and fine items including some great Hawaiian crafts, aloha shirts and other Hawaiian clothes, jewelry and fine art objects.

Wherever you go, you'll quickly fall in love with our beautiful garden island of Kauai and will always have fond memories of your Hawaii vacation

Things to do with children

You can fill up every day with activities, or you can choose to slow down and enjoy the Resort. (True story: we try to take our own family and friends to see everything when they visit us and more than once our guests have begged us, “Can’t we just stay here and hang out at the pool?”)

In Your Condo: We have provided a DVD/VCR player in the living room. The Kauai movies collection includes every movie made on Kauai, and there are many! Every Jurassic Park movie, South Pacific, Tropic Thunder, many Vietnam-themed movies, Elvis’ Blue Hawaii and so many others were set in Kauai. Kids love to try to identify where the scenes were filmed! The CDs are of island music, and many guests have told us they like to play them in the car while driving around. The books include tour books about Kauai with information about beaches, hikes and other activities. There are also some board games, puzzles, and DVDs for children. The condo also has boogie boards, beach chairs, umbrellas, and other beach gear, ice chests, and snorkel gear (including kid sizes), and sand toys

At Waipouli Resort: Your kids will want to spend many hours at the pool! It’s a two-acre lazy river through lush tropical landscaping.
