Great House For Large Groups

  • 5 of 5

This was a great house with lots of room! We had 13 in our group and there was plenty of room for everyone. The house is spacious and the yard is beautiful. We spent a lot of time in the backyard and screen porch. The house was very clean with everything we needed: towels, paper products, cleaning supplies, soaps, shampoos, etc... I would definitely recommend this house for large gatherings...very nice!

Great Owners, Nice Facility, but Very Dirty and Buggy

  • 2 of 5

I am a long-time user of house sharing services and believe in the value of crowdsourced accountability for the overall success of these platforms.

It's for that reason I have to write this less than stellar review.

We had a large group staying here for the weekend (18 total). The owners were very accomodating... they even let us come in the day before to drop off groceries for the weekend which was a huge help. The expansive yard, access to the water, and close proximity to the beach are a huge plus.

The negative comments can be broken down into a few categories:

1. The house is advertised to accomodate 18. That is excluding the additional cottage outside. That is definitely not the case and would require most of your guests to double up in beds. We scrambled and purchased four or five air mattresses to make it work.

---> Additionally -- two of the single beds are located in the front room which is not air conditioned... sort of like sleeping in a sun room. That made them virtually unusable.

2. All of the sheets in main house had mold in them ... so... again... I went and bought sheets for the group as the quickest solution... particularly b/c many in the group had compromised immune systems.

The general cleanliness of the house was dismal. It looked as if the counters were wiped off and they moved on. Found lots of dead bug carcasses... the floors were dirty, etc...

Simply having a professional house cleaning service and buying new linens would solve this problem.

3. Probably the biggest issue was the bugs and mildew in the cottage. There is a really cool cottage separated from the main house that has 3 single beds, a great bathroom and even a tv...

--> The problem is it seemed to not have been used for a long time... walking in you are hit with an overwhelming mold / mildew smell... I noticed this the day before so took it on myself to clean out the A/C filter and cranked it low hoping it would pump new air into the cottage before my guests arrived... that trick worked sort of.

---> When it was time to go to bed... the three people who planned to sleep in cottage got into bed only to have multiple spider nests explode all over them (the nests were in the sheets!). This was at midnight and so finding another place for them to try and sleep was a huge issue.

Needless to say... for the price... this place is fine... but be very very diligent on requiring a professional cleaning service be done well in advance.

A perfect place for our family get-away!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay here immensely. We were able to do lots of kayaking in the river right across the street. It is easily accessible to the beach, the lighthouse, and many restaurants; but the best part was just hanging around the house and the fenced in backyard. The owners were gracious and easy to work with. Thank you again!

"Home away from home"

  • 5 of 5

This place is just perfect for a large group. With 11 in our group, twice a year we all drive approx. 1000 miles to race at the Speedway for the Daytona Race of Champions and it can be difficult to bring everything you need. This place has it all, you really just needed to stop off for food, and your set for the weekend. With 5 bedrooms (2-3 beds in each room), large kitchen with separate eating area, large living room, screened in porch, a large grill and spacious lot for sitting outside as well as plenty of room for parking, it was just perfect! It is right along the river so the view for a long walk or run was great! The owners were wonderful and very accommodating in making sure we had everything we needed. Definitely will be back to stay again. An all around great place to stay!

Great Place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

After spending some time at this home, I found that it is very accommodating for our large group plus our vehicles. There was lots of room for everyone to sleep. Just over the bridge to the beaches and Daytona's event locations. Nice place and very well maintained.
