We offer you a vacation getaway in the sky – a 2 bedroom, 2 bath luxury condo at the very top of the Esplanade, right on the New River, in exciting Downtown Ft. Lauderdale.
DOWNTOWN ON THE NEW RIVER – means you are there. Not having to get into your car to “get there”, not “only a mile (or two, or three) to THERE”, but actually being THERE. We have 35 restaurants, night clubs, play houses, historic center, and art museums all within a quarter mile from us – that’s 2 blocks. They are all just an easy short walk away. Or you can take one of our bikes for a pleasant 5 or 10 minute ride to any of them. Walk to the Water Taxi stop just down the street and go anywhere on the New River and Intercoastal Waterway. Eat at one of the nearby restaurants on the river (the Pirates Republic Saloon & Restaurant is a block away). Suggestion: Plan your vacation to take in one of the first-run Broadway productions offered at the Broward Performing Arts Center.
LUXURY CONDO – is like staying in a fancy resort but without the resort prices and small rooms. It is NOT some rental house buried in a residential neighborhood miles from where you want to be. Luxury Condo means a swimming pool, a jetted spa pool, a dry heat sauna room, tennis courts (plus a pickleball court - we have a book that will explain how to play it), a full gym, 2 reserved parking spaces (with no parking charges), a Business Center and 24 hour desk service with a full time residential manager. A place where someone says “Hello” when you arrive and that can help with problems and questions.
“A VIEW TO DIE FOR” – means we are on the penthouse floor, 16 stories up looking down on the river and the boat traffic. Across the river is the Performing Arts Center mentioned above, Esplanade Park, the City’s Historic District, the Entertainment District and the start of the premier shopping district – Las Olas Blvd. “A view to die for” means the whole City is laid out before you, and at night it lights up as far as you can see.
FULLY EQUIPPED – means a 50”, a 40' and 32' HDTVs in the living room and bedrooms (plus even a under-counter TV in the kitchen. Comcast cable service with 275 channels with over 100 in HD including 19 sports channels. Plus FREE Netflix, Hulu Plus and Streamplx streaming services with thousands of movies and recent TV show to watch. Streaming services allow you to watch shows and movies when you want and not be tied to the cable company's schedule. A Sony, iPod Entertainment Center with over 10,000 songs, Blu-ray DVD player, 20 to 50 Mbps Internet service with free Wi-Fi, free phone service to anywhere in the US, Canada and Puerto Rico. Two bicycles, a kayak for the river, tennis rackets and balls for the 2 courts, paddles and balls for the pickleball court, a blanket, chairs and cooler for the beach, full kitchen supplies and the list goes on.
SEE OUR WEB SITE AND WEB CAM – for more pictures, for a live river view from the nifty camera on our balcony, for a 2D and 3D floor plan, for more about our “stuff”, for more about your hosts Ralph and Judy, for more about the special events like the Winterfest Boat Parade that starts on the river below us and the New Year’s Eve party that takes place in the park across the river from us. And more about the dock spaces available for your boat or yacht. The link for the website and camera are shown at the bottom of this listing. Page down to the very bottom to find them.
Your hosts, Ralph and Judy.
Ralph Enderby purchased this condo in 2004
After retiring from Motorola after 40 years as an engineer in their Research Department we wanted to buy a place we could go to getaway. We fell in love with the Esplanade Condo as the perfect hideaway. It is only 30 minutes from our home in Coral Springs but a 'world away'.
The view is what sold us and I think will sell you. We look down on the New River and overlook the City for a 'view to die for'.
Dear Ralph and Judy, Thank you for allowing us to stay at your beautiful place. Our trip was cut short but we had a wonderful time - short as it was. We are headed to the cool north & wish you both well for the New Year. - Canada
Whenever we travel as journalists, reporting on destinations around the world there is one thing that frequently blights our enjoyment and that is finding accommodation that we can afford to pay for and more importantly meets our high standards. We are sure that we are not alone in our desire to avoid noisy and sometimes dirty rooms in hotels chains that are uncomfortable, have expensive and poorly served breakfasts and supplement their already substantial profit by charging huge sums to guests for the use the internet.
When we travel we like to live locally do in comfort with the necessities of life that make being and working away from home that little bit more bearable. A good, well equipped kitchen, washing machines, a place to work and other home comforts help ease the stress of being away from home.
Over the years we have frequently suffered by staying in poor accommodation. So, it is wonderfully refreshing to be able to report on, and even recommend, a great self catering apartment in downtown Fort Lauderdale that is not only fully equipped, but is at the same time, not outrageously expensive.
Now, before we tell you how great and fully equipped it is, let us make this abundantly clear that it is not available during next years show because we have booked it already but for brokers, captains yacht managers and would be purchasers of super yachts this place has our recommendation.
The penthouse suite on the 17th floor is a two bedroom apartment located over looking the New River with spectacular views of down town and the water in the heart of Fort Lauderdale. This unit whose second bedroom is laid out as a study with its own WiFi, features stainless steel appliances, granite counter tops, wood floors, and an over-sized balcony. It has an excellent location. Walk across the bridge to the Broward Center for Performing Arts and all that Las Olas Boulevard has to offer or catch the water taxi over to the beach or along the water ways so you get to see the houses belonging to millionaires who park their super yachts at the foot of their gardens! The apartment block has its own covered secure parking, a sauna, fitness centre, pool surrounded by BBQs for use by guests and even a 24 hour lobby.
Thanks to Ralph and Judy for providing everything we needed to make our stay at The Esplanade comfortable and enjoyable. Our favorite part of the unit was the extra large wrap around balcony affording us sunset and sunrise views as well as a fantastic snapshot of the city in action. Even the train horn became a fond part of our sensory experience. We immersed ourselves in the community by frequenting local establishments like The Coffee Grind Project, The Yoga Warehouse, Downtown Harbor Church and several fine local restaurants: Pirate Republic, Hardywood Bistro, Riverside Market and The Chimney House to name a few. The property is in walking distance to the culture of the city. We enjoyed concerts, movies and a Broadway play, all just blocks from the property. Fort Lauderdale is such a great city and this property is a perfect location from which to access all it has to offer.
Firstly, we would like to thank Ralph and Judy for being wonderful owners and hosts. The greeted us on our arrival spending time to explain the operation of everything in the condo and great instructions for getting around. They included a notebook containing every bit of tourist information possible. Additionally, they stocked the condo with all conceivable necessities, e.g. fully stocked kitchen, complementary sodas, beach chairis/umbrellas, bicycles, board games, a laptop computer with printer, and the list goes on. The condo penthouse floor provides a panoramic view of the city and New River. The furniture both on the lanai and living room were extremely comfortable. You will need to either walk across the bridge or take the water shutter or water taxi in order to get to the Broward Center side of the river, but this was no problem. The only slight negative was the noise from the the train whistle that unfortunately does blow loud and frequently even in the early morning hours. This, however, was a small price to pay for a wonderful condo and location.
Ralph and Judy went above and beyond to make sure our week stay was comfortable. The view from the balcony is wonderful and we stayed out there pretty much all the time. It was great! We would definitely stay again. :0)
We spent a month in the unit and it was all and more then we had hoped for. Everything is first class and in great shape. Owners are wonderful and take great pride in their Condo. Ralph has created the best web site ever!! We can't wait to return. Gregg and Debbie
The property was excellent. The owners went out of their , literally. They cut a vacation short and stayed to show us everything. The kayak was more than we expected and the bikes were great. They keep a book of all a traveler would ever need to know. READ IT!! I've been visiting Fort Lauderdale for over 20 years and this vacation was tops. They provide phone numbers and email. AND they answer timely. The view of the waterway and surrounding area was
Incredible. We found ourselves checkin out the sights at various times of day. The view from the private balcony was second to none. No buildings next door. The neighborhood was great. We were surprised it was a nice area to bike ride. The pool and fitness center are the cleanest I've come across in my travels. Unlike other places the pool was in a sunny area of property. The five star hotel in FT Lauderdale has some competition. Our only regret was we didn't stay the entire two weeks of our vacation. We will know better next year!!!
If you are not familiar with the Downtown area of Fort Lauderdale, it is the fastest growing, most vibrant part of the City. A number of years ago the City Commission decided to re-develop the downtown area as an arts, entertainment and residential living area. A number of studies were done and a master plan developed. The first phase was the building of the “Riverwalk Park” along the north bank of the New River (the main river that runs through the downtown area and has some of the most expensive homes in the City). The Riverwalk Park allows you to walk the river (or ride one of our bikes) and enjoy the activities. The west end of the Park (where we are) starts at the cultural center of Broward County with the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, and going east passes the Museum of Discovery and IMAX Theater, the Old Ft. Lauderdale Village and Museum, the Museum of Art (one of the few museums in the country to show the King Tut Exhibition) - Continued below

A great way to get away at the last minute and save money. Sorry but the discount doesn't apply for nights in December with all its great events. HomeAway is not set up to apply the "last minute" discount of 25%, so if it applies to your stay mention it and I will adjust your quote accordingly.
