Summary of our Stay in Condo in Victoria, BC in Aug 2017

  • 2 of 5

The following comments are relative to a VRBO listed condo we rented in Victoria, BC from July 23 thru Aug 27, 12017. 1. The lighting in most rooms was marginal at best. The overhead lights in the kitchen and master bath room were almost unacceptable. There were no overhead lights in the two bedrooms and the living room. I feel that changing to larger wattage bulbs in the master bath and the kitchen would take care of that problem. 2. There were no vents in the two bathrooms. 3. There were no soap trays in either shower or tub areas to put soap or other items. 4. There were no towel bars for the sinks in either bathroom. 5.There were no dressers in any room in the condo. We had to put our clothes on the shelves in the walk-in closet in the master bedroom. The floor space in the walk in closet in the master bedroom was taken up with a crib, a table, and a high chair. Also, almost 50 percent of the available space was taken up with toys, old blinds, etc. 6. The entire condo was very dirty, including the patio area. We called the owner and asked him about this. He said that he would take care of it the next day. He did come with a vacuum cleaner but did no cleaning as far as we could tell except to sweep the back patio. We went to the store and bought a wet, cleaning swifter box. My wife did all the floors. I ran the vacuum. 7. The washer took at least an hour and a half to run and the clothes were still dripping wet. The dryer was a unit that did not vent to the outside. After drying the first load, we found most of the floor in the laundry room was covered with water. We called the owner again, he said that he would call the building manager. We heard nothing so we put a pitcher under the leaking area and proceeded with our washing. We usually had to empty the pitcher about every third load. The owner finally got a repairman out who said the washer needed a part and he would order it. When we checked out more than 2 weeks later we had heard nothing else. We sent our laundry out twice and the condo has offered to pay for this. 8. The linens were atrocious; stained pillows, old towels, some with paint stains, kitchen linens were disgusting, oven filthy, and on and on. The pictures of the condo on line and the actual unit were like night and day. The location of the condo was wonderful, parking very convenient. Such a shame that we have felt misled and disappointed in this property.

Nice property

  • 3 of 5

First, the positives: we were able to get in early, the place is very comfortable, clean and nice. There is a wonderful coffee shop almost right outside your door and a great bike rental place too. You are kind of far away from a beach or downtown as the place is located across the bridge but we did walk downtown one day and it is definitely easily doable. The only real problem we had was getting in touch with the owners for help. The garage door wasn't working and we never received an answer about it at all. They had people coming to do work when we were there and we weren't informed prior to our arrival or given any kind of compensation for having to deal with painters on our holiday that needed our door to remain unlocked while we were out. The place is nice but the owners did not help us out when we needed it.

Great location, nice rental

  • 4 of 5

Geoff and Jody were easy to work with and communicate with. The rental was as described and perfect for what we needed. Not too noisy and GREAT location! Easy to get downtown and walking distance to most everything. Some suggestions: I think I would like some instructions for the "thermostat" that I tried to operate and realized it probably wasn't a thermostat. The fan ran all the time (which was fine) I was just trying to be sure AC was not on so we could open windows (which we did do). I hope I did not ruin anything... I also was the only one in my party that could not get the TV to work... HAHA. So, that is obviously operator error but instructions would be nice. There are NO SIGNS that I saw to the elevator to deposit trash, so clearer instruction there (Trash is located outside of both entry gates (or the first gate into the garage) and to the left. The small grey fob will open the door to the trash center). I almost gave up and we had several bags. I finally found someone in the parking garage to ask. THANK YOU SO MUCH! WE HAD A WONDERFUL TIME!

Awesome location, close to the city but not noisy and busy at all. Bakery and walking trails are just around the corner. The perfect place to relax and work.

Victoria fo a week in the winter

  • 4 of 5

We found the condo in Victoria was an excellent base for exploring the City of Victoria. The unit was very comfortable and clean.

The location of the Condo was close to walking trails. The beds were comfortable and the hosts provided all the information we needed to enjoy our vacation.

Location Location Location!

  • 5 of 5

Geoff/Jody have a fantastic property which suited our needs and more. My girlfriend and I were traveling with our two french bulldogs. The communication and instructions for the property were clear and concise.

When we arrived we had no hidden surprises. Everything was as advertised and more! The location can accommodate 4 people very comfortably. One thing that we found extremely convenient was their parking spot. It is literally located right outside the front door. There is another man door across which leads directly to the underground parking garage. Your parking spot is behind that door. This made unloading and loading luggage a breeze.

The property is quiet and clean! The location is perfect especially if you do not want to be in the hustle and bustle of downtown. It's situated just outside the downtown core. Getting to downtown is also a breeze and is a short walk across the Johnston St. bridge. There is a lot of greenery around and a park a block away to run your dogs. Save on foods/starbucks/spinakers (liquor store) is also a block away. Just outside your back patio is a few steps to a local coffee shop (Fol Epi). They have fantastic pastries/sandwiches/snacks among a good selection of gourmet imported coffees. Right beside is a bike rental shop. It's situated well as you can ride down to the walk way which wraps around the scenic waterfront! Being a little outdoorsy and having two dogs, this was the perfect location!

Inside the property you will find all your necessities. The Master bedroom is a good size. There is a en-suite bathroom with a large soaker tub with adjoining shower. Attached to that is a very large walk in closet.

One thing to mention is that the central heat/cooling might be hard to operate. It can be confusing if you've never used that type of system before. Also if you are staying long term and need to use the washer/dryer they are a bit dated and might be hard to use as well, if all you've used are newer model washer/dryers. However, I must stress that none of these were issues for us during our stay.

All in all we were very comfortable during our stay and will sure to be back once the opportunity arises! Thank you Geoff and Jody for the memorable weekend and experience!
