This home was perfect for our family (4 adults, 3 teens). The three bedrooms were spacious and comfortable. we also used the 2 futons. We stayed four days for a family wedding in Murphys. Greenhorn is beautiful; we used the pool and golf course. House was clean; well equipped; plenty of linens; double garage. Perfect for our needs. Needs only one thing: a full length mirror.
I grew up in Angels Camp and we came into town for my mom's 80th birthday party, staying at the house with my kids and grandkids. It was a FANTASTIC home for our stay and the owner was great to work with! The house was clean and well stocked. All of the beds were exceptionally comfortable, and the linens were high quality which we appreciated. There are grocery stores right up the street, which is convenient. Angels Food Market is my favorite. My sons played golf at the course and loved it -- saw deer on the course while they were playing, which was a unique experience. The neighborhood is peaceful and the views from the balcony are gorgeous. I would recommend this house to my family and friends and will definitely stay there again when I come into town!
My family .. daughter and 6 grandchildren had the most exciting vacation at Angels Camp! This home in Greenhorn Creek Resort was absolutely beautiful to accommodate our family. The website is exactly as the house is shown, 2 baths, one with an awesome jacuzzi, 3 large bedrooms with such comfortable beds we didn't want to get up in the morning! The master bedroom had a king bed & a twin bed, so the adults can have a big bed while a child could sleep in the twin & sleep soundly. This room had a TV with ROKU, & NETFLIX & Pandora 24/7. The 2nd bedroom had a patio door where you could drink your morning coffee or a night cap. The kitchen was beautiful, lots of plates, glasses & silverware, oven, microwave & blender, kitchen table for 4 overlooking a meadow with blue birds. The large living room had a dining table for 6, a great 7 ft sofa, & a very comfy overstuffed chair that kept the kids happy as they watched tv, & played lots of board games that were available in the hutch. There was a washer-dryer which we used so we could come home with clean clothes! Amenities galore ...towels, sheets, pillow cases, toilet paper, hand soap, shampoo, laundry soap, dish soap, so we did not have to make a trip to the store to buy these! There were two swimming pools & a nice size hot tub, five minutes from the home, that became our daily ritual. We were 20 minutes from the kids fun spot called Barrel of Monkeez, where our kids spent almost 3 hours playing laser tag, had fun in the jumping houses, pee wee golf around the entire play area and so much more fun things to keep them cool and occupied! We were five minutes from the Historic Museum where we panned for gold for 2 hrs and visited the museum with old cars and a fire truck. We were 10 minutes from the Rite Aid and Save Mart, so you don't have to worry about keeping food cold from home if you're driving any distance. We were 40 minutes from the California Caverns, definitely a must do for an amazing, memorable family experience.
John, the owner, was wonderful! He greeted us as we arrived, and offered the loan of his golf cart, which our two 17 year-olds enjoyed driving to the pool and around the family friendly neighborhood. I highly recommend this home if you are looking for a beautiful, spotless vacation home, on a quiet cul de sac to spend with your family. We look forward to spending a few weeks at John's home in Dec-Jan-Feb to see Angels Camp in the winter time. Book early, his calendar fills up quickly!
John was so flexible and easy to work with. We had a wonderful stay. The house is exactly as advertised, and I cannot say enough about this "gem" of a community in Calaveras County. It was such a treat to walk around the neighborhood or simply relax on the lanai. We would definitely stay here again. Thanks for the memories!
We had a lovely stay. John, the owner, is very friendly and easy to deal with. He made us feel right at home. This place is cozy and comfy but I don't mean it's small. It's spacious but really warm. It has a wonderful big kitchen if you like to cook. The area is very pretty and close to Murphy's if you like wine tasting. We went hiking and wine tasting and nothing was too far away.
John's house was perfect for a long weekend with friends. There were two families - four adults and four young children - and we all appreciated being able stay in bedrooms on opposite sides of the house. There is a master suite on one side which was perfect for our friends, whose kids sleep with them when they travel. We took the other wing, which had two bedrooms and a bathroom. The kids went crazy for the deep Jacuzzi tub in the master suite and insisted on group bubble baths every night. It is a spacious, comfortable home and was safe for small children. The kitchen was well equipped and we had no trouble preparing meals for eight. We really enjoyed grilling on the balcony with views of the foothills.
John let us use his golf cart for trips to and from the pool and we all had a great time riding in it - especially the kids! It was fun to explore the neighborhood by taking different routes to the pool. It's a very pretty area with nice homes.
Gold Country is a gorgeous part of California, with lots to do. The dads and older boys went fishing at New Melones Lake one morning. They didn't catch anything, but had lots of fun anyway!
We also visited Moaning Cavern, which was only about 15 minutes away. The kids (ages 20 months to 4 1/2) all had a blast. We did some gemstone mining there and talk about bang for you buck! For $8.99 each, they got a bag of dirt to wash and got loads of gemstones! My son's only regret was that we didn't go every day. There was also a zip line and cavern tour, which we will come back for when the kids are older.
Murphys is a cool little town only about 10 minutes away so we spent our last afternoon walking around the historic downtown. It's very charming, with a little creek running through and interesting shops in really cool little gold rush era buildings. We got some outrageously yummy cupcakes at Lila & Sage which were perfect after a nice dinner at Angelo's Steakhouse Italiano.
As for Angels Camp, Glory Hole Sports in Angels Camp was great for getting fishing bait and other sporting supplies. We did our grocery shopping at Angels Food Market and were pleased with the quality and variety.
All in all, we had a great time and are looking forward to our next visit!
