Great Location, But.....

  • 2 of 5

The short walk to the beach, the large yard with fire pit, and the privacy of the property are great. There were some things, however, that were not great. The house is very dated. There was only one air conditioner per unit and you have to climb up on a bar stool to turn it off and on. When it was on, it was freezing in the living area. When it was off at night, the bedrooms became stuffy in a hurry. There was a lot of food left in the refrigerators, though one thing we were asked to do was remove food at the end of our stay. Appliances worked and having washer/dryer in each unit was good. The worst thing was the water. The pressure from the showers was low - and sometimes nonexistent! The shower water would just stop, and then start up again 30 seconds later, then stop again. We called the manager about this and she said it was because we had too many people trying to take showers; however, the house is advertised for 12, and we only had 8, two of whom were toddlers who did not take showers. She said she would send a plumber to check on the pump, but we never heard from him. (And who wants to sit in the house waiting for a plumber?) This problem was not unique to us. Comments from a year ago in the guest book reported the same issue. Also, if we had had 12 people there, we would have had a real problem, with water and with space. My advice to the owner: Spend some money on updates. The location and beach access are great, but I would never go back without some improvements being made.

Good rental!

  • 4 of 5

Really liked the yard and duplex set up of the house. We had 7 adults and 2 three year olds in our group. We enjoy staying outside of town since the large public beaches can get crowded. While this house had access to a public beach it was basically deserted during the week and only got crowded on the Friday holiday and following Sat. The walk to the beach is short - 1/4 mile max...although you are going up hill on your trek back to the house. But overall the trek is manageable. It would be nice if the house was connected through a main hall instead of one of the bedrooms but we made it work. Overall it's a comfortable rental - we would definitely consider again!

a great beach house rental

Large yard for games and entertaining with a great camp fire area. Easy access to the beach which is very clean and secluded. Inside of the house is well appointed and layout is family-friendly. Easy drive from chicago. Would definitely rent again.

A wonderful Michigan retreat

  • 5 of 5

We came here for a long weekend with our family. The location is perfect, with just the right mix of seclusion, steps to the beach, and a quick drive into town.

The house is perfect for large families, and has two living areas/kitchens so can be divided if necessary.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and have already booked to return in the fall. You will not be disappointed!

Wonderful house, amazing location.

  • 5 of 5

We've rented several houses in the southwest Michigan before, but never have we stayed at a place like this. This spot is a perfect combination of lake house meets restful cabin. The property itself is large and very private, perfect for yard games. The house is decorated very tastefully. And the beds are super comfortable. Great place to enjoy with several couples or family.
