About the property

Built in 2008. 1450 Sq. Ft, 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom, Kitchen/ living room Great Room layout. Slate floors in bathrooms. Two sided open fireplace between great room and 4 season sun room with vaulted ceiling.

Many windows. All new appliances including range, refrigerator, and dishwasher. Skylights in upstairs bedrooms. Built-ins in bedrooms. All new furniture throughout the cabin.

There are two queen size beds in two of the bedrooms and one room has two small single beds. There is also a Pack and Play available for a baby. And there is an inflatable queen size bed that can be used in the sunroom to accomodate extra sleeping.

There is an Artesian well that is 200 feet deep in the granite ledge. Artesian wells are more common in sand and very uncommon in granite. This well provides some of the best water you’ll ever taste.

The cabin has total privacy with no neighbors on either side. There are a couple cabins across the river and just north of the cabin that are visible when at the river's edge.

The total acreage is approximately 6.5 with 300 feet of river frontage. The cabin is set back from the river, yet maintains a view of the river. At the river’s edge there is a picnic area deck with table and chairs. .

The land is wooded with a mix of small pine, some large pine old growth and hardwood. There are walking paths throughout wooded lot. There are no houses on either side of the lot. It is not uncommon to see a lot of wildlife. There are many deer, grouse, eagles that nest just up the river, and an occasional bear. The 6.5 acres that the cabin sit on abutts 1500 acres of undeveloped land.

In the summer months you can enjoy hiking or mountain biking, swimming in the river, canoeing or kayaking or fishing. The Chippewa river is one of the best rivers for fishing in the state of Wisconsin. Seven miles straight north is where the Chippewa River comes out of the Chippewa Flowage. At the Flowage there is a great new boat landing. An entire day could be spent exploring the flowage via boat.

The cabin is 3/4 of a mile from Tuscobia Trail. This is a premiere trail for ATVs in the spring through fall and Snowmobiling in the winter. The best thing is that the cabin is far enough away from the trail that you never see or hear atvs or snowmobiles. So, if that does not interest you, you won't be bothered by any noise. If you are into atving or snowmobiling, you have close access to the trail.

About Jason

We currently live in Minneapolis, and before that I lived in Madison, WI. My wife and I grew up in rural locations. I'm originally from northern Wisconsin near Rhinelander and my wife is originally from near Hanover, NH.

Jason purchased this cabin in 2008

Why Jason chose Ojibwa

On trips to and from my parents (now in Eagle River, WI) we found that we kept stopping about half way for baby-out-of-the-car breaks. One small park in Ojibwa next to the Chippewa River saw many diaper changes. Since the trip was about 4.5 hours, and we were wanting to get away on the weekends more often to have our kids know a country experience, we started to look in this area. It was perfect for us. A half way point for my parents and siblings in WI and next to a river. My wife and I have taken a houseboat all the way down the Mississippi River and enjoy the freedom of rivers.

What makes this cabin unique

When we are at the cabin we enjoy going on hikes and kayaking in the river. We also enjoy being so close to the Chippewa Flowage and a national park. In the winter our driveway down to the cabin is a perfect sled run for us and the kids.

Hidden Northwoods Gem! Give it a shot!!!

  • 5 of 5

I've been coming up to this area all my life since I was 5 years old. I know the area better than most locals and do all the outdoor activities to the fullest. Over the last couple years we have decided to close our own cabin early and rent for the last big weekend of the year, the gun deer season opening weekend. When I started my search, I came across many places that were brutal looking and was very pissed off that I may not find a decent place to stay for the week of gun season. I came across this place during my search and I now know that I don't need to look any further, ever again. This place met all of our needs, had everything you need for a stay and then more. We had 4 adults over 30 years old with a lot of gear and clothes and there was still plenty of room for daily moving around and such. The rooms are awesome, the place is very clean, not a spec of dirt on the premises inside, and everything worked great. This place is a hidden GEM, it really is. If you are looking for a place to stay with the lady/wife/girlfriend and you worry that this may be too "outdoorsy" for them, DONT WORRY AT ALL. I travel for my job and sleep in many hotels and this place was much cleaner than most Hiltons that I sleep in. We have re-booked for next year already as well! I will always be a repeat customer!

As a sidenote for those that worry that because there is no TV and what will fill that void, we streamed via SlingBox (google it) the entire time for football games and sports and everything else to keep my Dad who likes to hang out in the cabin entertained. Verizon works best as Jason notes and I can confirm. I had 4 bars nearly the whole time by the cabin and then 5 bars near the front porch area facing the water.

If you are worried about being on top of someone and being super close to them as far as neighbors and want to make sure this place is private, the only living things we saw near us in 7 days at this cabin were all animals.

Now that you have reached the bottom of this review, go book a rental! YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!

Owner's Response: John, Thanks for the very kind words. We're very happy that you enjoyed your stay and that you'll be coming back. We resolved the wifi issue we were having when you were there, so next year you can use that and save on your cell data plan. It was great to see all caps used for good. Most times, all caps tend to be used for bad or yelling. Thanks for putting the joy back in all caps! - Jason

Plentiful windows makes you feel like you're outdoors all the time.

  • 4 of 5

Our family, some from the Minneapolis area and some from the Milwaukee area met here for a weekend retreat. We appreciated the prompt communication with the host; very willing to answer all of our questions. The cabin is modern, very clean, uncluttered and comfortable. Loved the views of the river and kid friendly room. Also, it was an unexpected surprise to have internet. Only negatives were the low water pressure in the kitchen (probably on purpose) and we had to figure out to keep the fireplace doors shut because we set off the smoke alarm.

Overall, if you are looking for a place to get away, enjoy the woods, a fire, cooking, and a couple of beers - this place is perfect.

Owner's Response: Rachel, Thanks for the review. Since your stay we put new magnets on the fireplace doors to help them stay closed. The kitchen faucet had some silt built up in the screen. That was removed and back to full pressure again. I hope you'll have a chance to stay with us again.

Wonderful and relaxing!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at the cabin in the woods! It was fabulous and so relaxing. The cabin is beautiful and has everything you would need for a great vacation. We had fun cooking in the kitchen: made lasagna with fresh baked bread one night and salmon the next.

The owner was available whenever we had a question and was very helpful.

We would love to stay here again. We especially appreciate finding such a nice cabin that allowed dogs - thank you!

Beautifully secluded cabin

  • 5 of 5

Our stay here was wonderful. We were lucky to have amazing weather to pair with the lovely cabin. The location is extremely secluded and you feel like you have acres upon acres to yourself! We took our dogs and did some hiking nearby which was also great to see a bit of nature and just listen to the wind and the birds. The cabin itself is perfect - it appears to be quite newly remodeled with a fully stocked kitchen, cozy living room and sun room that share a fireplace which we used daily, and a bunch of books for alms it anyone's taste. We would definitely return but next time with another couple or some more people.
