Even though we are a 2 bedroom we prefer to rent to one couple only to keep the feeling of a romantic getaway with peaceful surroundings. We were called Buddha Garden but changed the name to Orchid Garden because we are passionate about collecting orchids.

A wonderful relaxing stay
We were delighted with with our stay at Buddha Garden. The property has fantastic views of Coral Bay and the BVI. The sunrises are spectacular. The owners have created numerous private tranquil spaces. The house is furnished with fascinating Asian art. The owners are friendly and accessible without being intrusive. Coral Bay with a nice selection of restaurants and a couple of markets was a short drive. Salt Pond Bay was nearby. If you enjoy hike the Ram’s Head Trail which begins at Salt Pond was a little challenging in spots, but offered exercise and beautiful vistas. We look forward to our next stay!
Thank you so much. Wonderful houseguests. Look forward to seeing you next year. Sincerely, Ric and Lolita
Peaceful location- Beautiful view
We had a wonderful stay at this lovely home. It was quiet and peaceful and the breezes on the porch were fabulous. The snorkeling and beach at Salt Pond, which is only a quick drive away, were wonderful! I highly recommend staying at Buddha Garden!
Dreamlike Oasis of Beauty and Tranquility
The Buddha Garden is a beautifully appointed, wholly restorative home and property. No photos do justice to the beauty, ingenuity, and thoughtfulness of this incredible home. It is integrated so naturally into the surrounding landscape, and the views from every corner of the home are breathtaking: watching storms from the arched shower window, full moon rises from the elevated bed on the roof deck, golden-lit breakfasts under the pagoda, the orchids blooming outside the kitchen...). The home is comfortable and spacious and decorated with exquisitely eclectic furniture and artworks from around the globe. The kitchen is very well equipped, and we happily prepared all of our meals over the course of the week (packing picnics in the provided coolers to bring on our excursions). The location is ideal for the beaches of the southeaster shore: Salt Pond (so full of Sea Turtles), Lameshur, and the hike out to Ram's Head. Views over Coral Bay catch the outlying Cays and a stretch of Tortola. The property is perfumed with jasmine and plumeria.. Driving to the bays on the north shore was an easy trip (swimming to Watermelon Cay being a major highlight). This is an ideal location if you are looking for unspoiled nature, and undeveloped coves. We never even made it back to Cruz Bay until we had to return our Jeep and board a ferry, such was the magnetic pull of Buddha Garden.
After 3 nights at a wonderful rental in St Croix, we spent 12 nights at Buddha Garden on St John. Unfortunately, we left the latter property with mixed feelings. Buddha Garden is certainly unique - full of many interesting artworks from afar and pieces of furniture. We were thrilled upon arrival. The outside areas are also spacious with wonderful outlooks to a stunning part of the world. However, there are a few flaws with the property that would need to be corrected before I could recommend it to others.
We choose this place b/c we both practice yoga and were promised mats (there was only one that was deteriorating and needed to be replaced). Mosquitos were rampamt after the rains and we were shocked to discover that the screens on the windows and doors are not intact - there are a number of holes. The screen to the main entrance of the house is broken and there are gaps between the doors and the frames in a number of places. The consequence was that mosquitos could easily enter the property - which they did after a few days of wet weather. The problem was exacerbated as the mosquito nets on the beautiful, handcrafted, hardwood beds were not functional. Different pieces of material had been draped over the bed posts and held together with a few clothes pins - this made it impossible to avoid gaps (and there were not enough clothes pins, we had to ask for them). It would be relatively easy and inexpensive to resolve the problems with the screens. Also, the mosquito nets should be sewn together such that they fit the beds. In our travels in Africa and Asia, we have slept in some very basic accommodation but they all had mosquito nets that were effective and adjusted to fit odd-size beds.
A further issue was the work being carried at the owner's property that is situated immediately below the rented accommodation. Although this was not major construction and they started at a decent hour, the noise became an annoyance. We were told that Buddha Garden was going to be unoccupied after we left - that would have been a more appropriate time to conduct any work on the owner's property.
The property is advertised as a place to relax, unwind, meditate, do yoga. Unfortunately, when one cannot do yoga at home, nor sleep well because of being bitten by mosquitos the whole night, it is not a place I could recommend.
HI: We asked them when they arrived if there was anything they needed to just ask. They never asked for extra yoga mats or we would have given them. We have replaced the broken screens and sewed the mosquito net immediatedly after we got this review. We now have two yoga mats. We do appreciate everyone' s input as we want to make your stay a great one.
Buddhas and Beaches
When the winds are blowing (frequently) and the chimes are sounding and the birds are chirping and the Buddhas gazing down upon you ---you can only be in one place ---Buddha Garden. For those who are into an abundance of Asian art, furniture, figurines, masks and books --this unique house will be for you. The views are magnificent.
Such a wonderful home! Views are spectacular. Uniquely decorated and much larger than what the pictures depict. We spend a thoroughly relaxing week at Buddha Garden. You can't go wrong renting this space. Thank you, Ric and Lolita!
Coral Bay has great shopping and restaurants. You can rent kayaks and go over the Hurricane Hole. Go snorkeling on 3 great beaches. You are close to several of the best hiking trails on the island. It is the most laid back and peaceful areas of St.John but also has live music and great nightlife. Other Activities: Boating, shelling, wildlife viewing, rock climbing, horseshoes, shopping, kayaking, mini golf, parasailing, biking, health/beauty spa
