34th floor adjoining A & B units with spectacular city/mountain/ocean views overlooking the Ala Wai Canal. Immaculately clean, non-smoking, air-conditioned, comfortably furnished with 2 full bathrooms. The A-unit sleeps 2 (in a full size bed) and has a new 32' flat screen TV, a wireless Internet connection (BYOC), an Ipod station, and a full kitchen (microwave, 4-burner stove, oven, full-size refrigerator and fully equipped with dishes & utensils). The B-unit sleeps up to 4 in 1 full size and 2 twin trundle beds, and has it's own TV, VHS/DVD player, and within wireless range of the A-units wireless router. $75 cleanout fee. Parking is available for $25/day and airport shuttles will bring you to the door for $14/person. You can walk to the beach (10 minutes) and blocks of exclusive stores and general shopping are close by. City buses can take you anywhere you want to go completely around the entire island for $2.00!!!! Take a vacation, enjoy life a little, call us before it is booked on your dates. We will make the the reservation with honesty, efficiency, and nothing left out in the contract.

I absolutely loved the location the views were fabulous, the two different rooms that gave us privacy but also not separated, being able to grill, swim and lounge in the hot tub. There was a bar in the lower level that had great people in it. Small eateries in the lobby. Beach within in a 10 minute walk. I would absolutely stay there again.

Needs TLC and better housekeeping

As the rooms were conveniently located, it was not a place to spend any extra time at.

It should not be advertised as "2 bedrooms", but a one bedroom and a studio suite with a kitchen.

The tub needs to be re-calked as it and the shower curtain had mold on them.

When we arrived the parking attendant handed us a bag, given to her from housekeeping, with a roll of toilet paper and said if we needed more we would need to go to the store.

One key out of the 4 was scratched badly and wouldn't work at all.

5 of the floors in the building were being fumigated as I suspect the 34th would be as well, there were small ant like bugs crawling on the counter. I was not surprised there were bugs as we had to wash many of the dishes before using them.

After a 5 night stay I stripped the bed before vacating and I was horrified to see multiple stains on the mattress cover from the previous occupants.

I would not recommend this VRBO to anyone!

Owner's Response: Please note: my only bad review ever, and to counter each of this reviewer's points: This is NOT advertised as a 2-bedroom. The ad description clearly says it is "adjoining studios". OK, the tub needs to be re-caulked, and there was mold on the shower curtain.... my cleaner explained that she had just noticed it, too, and was in the process of replacing it before the next guest. Not sure what the problem was with the check-in procedure (the "bag with a roll of toilet paper")... again not my standard procedure, but not something which makes the rental a problem. The small ants are a building wide problem, but they do NOT get into food or dishware, and I assure all that the dishes are well washed for each new guest. The Building has been working on the ant problem for over a year. They are NOT a major bother. Typically, we replace mattress pads when they are stained, but occasionally a stained one (which is still clean) is used until a new one can be obtained.

clean apartment in good location

The Hawiian Monarch itself is looking a little worse for wear but the apartments we stayed in on the 34th floor was clean and well set up. Also well situated with close access to beach, pubs and restaurants. The Monarch itself has a convenience store ,coffee shop, good burger bar and bar so no need to leave home. Good accommodation at the price.

I lived in these rentals with my daughter while she was teenager until she went away to college.
