About the property

4 Bedrooms, 2 Baths (Sleeps 8)

The Lake Gogebic Vacation Home is geared for today's lifestyle with the conveniences you would expect to find and more. Our home is very well-equipped and maintained, and is located on the West Shore of beautiful Lake Gogebic, the largest inland lake in Michigan's Western Upper Peninsula. The home is on several acres lot with 400 feet of lake frontage and includes a dock and boat lift (2500 lb. weight restriction) as well as a nice swimming area. Enjoy magnificent views of the lake from the comfort of the home or outdoor deck. Patio furniture and a charcoal Weber grill are also included. No reason to share a bed as this is the perfect place for 8 people to each sleep in their own separate bed, everyone can have a bed for themselves, if desired. Main floor bedroom has a queen bed, upstairs has two bedrooms, one with a queen bed the other with two twin beds, lower level has been updated in one large open bedroom with one queen pillow top bed, two twin beds and a new full sized sleeper sofa. Snowmobile enthusiasts will appreciate the direct access to trail #1. In 2015 we expanded and widened our nice long driveway to fit snowmobile trailers and boat trailers with a T-shape. Need more room for parking trucks and large trailers? We have additional parking nearby, inquire on availability. Call our office for details on accommodations for larger groups with our rental next door, Mallard Cove VRBO #570602. We welcome all outdoor enthusiasts that love the wilderness and beauty of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Don't forget bug spray, we get some mosquitos, it's the Northwoods after all.

About Arlene Schneller

This is our second vacation rental home that we built on Lake Gogebic next to our other lake rental Mallard Cove VRBO#570602. We take great pride in well-managed properties that guests with family and friends enjoy year after year by returning as repeat guests. We believe in comfort, upkeep, cleanliness and most important, happy guests! We travel and stay in other VRBO rentals and have been in the vacation rental business for many years, we know what we like and what our guests expect.

Arlene Schneller purchased this cottage in 1995

Why Arlene Schneller chose Lake Gogebic

This property became available right next door to our other rental, Mallard Cove VRBO #570602. People have rented both units at the same time for reunions and weddings, it's ideal for vacationing families, fishermen, hunters and snowmobilers, being on trail #1.

What makes this cottage unique

Lake Gogebic is the largest lake in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. We like the relaxed feeling, the lake is so big that it's impossible to feel busy or crowded. We love watching wildlife, deer, eagles and loons. Lots of amazing outdoor recreation with one million acres of Ottawa National Forest, the Porkies and spectacular waterfalls. It's centrally located to all the places we enjoy. A nice floor plan and the waterfront deck views are nice too.

Great place for a family

  • 5 of 5

Spent a week of fishing in June. The house was clean, had nice furniture, and a well equipped kitchen. Close to state park for launching boat. Would definitely rent it again.

Very enjoyable stay!

  • 5 of 5

We very much enjoyed our stay. Everything was very nice, clean well kept. We only had a couple of items that would have made our 4 days even better.

1-Dishwasher doesn't clean the dishes so we ended up hand washing everything.

2-Ran out of toilet paper after day 2.

3-Grounds keeper cut grass on Friday evening when we were outside enjoying the weather, having dinner and playing in the yard. Grass clipping were drug in the house the whole rest of our time. Had to vacuum 2 times while there.

Great Family Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Teal Wing was a nice quiet spot for our 4th of July family trip. The house is nothing fancy but it was perfect for our short getaway. There was plenty of parking for all our vehicles. The house was well kept with beds for all of us to sleep comfortably (5 adults, 3 kids over age of 8). The kitchen had the basics and we were prepared with what we needed but made one trip to Walmart in Ironwood. We were able to rent a pontoon from the Gogebic Lodge right down the road which worked out great! Only downsides were no washer/dryer (had we stayed longer it would have been nice to have to wash towels and such), there is no air condition (which wouldn't been great if it was any hotter with a 7 month pregnant person), and there was a lot of goose droppings on the property so the kids couldn't play in the yard much. Overall it was a nice reasonably priced location. We would stay again if we ever ventured back up that way!

Nice stay at a nice place

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I spent a very pleasant week at Teal Wing. There was plenty of room without using either of the upstairs or basement bedrooms. The bedroom and bathroom on the main floor was all we needed. The house was well stocked with everything necessary to make our stay comfortable and the place was clean. I appreciated the larger driveway when turning around and parking my boat trailer. There was a shore station next to the dock but, even with all the stormy weather we saw through the week, I didn't need to use it and just tied off to the dock. The bugs were not as bad as we expected, considering the woods around the property, but the weather was a bit cooler than normal. Aside from lawn care service it was quiet and private. We would like to return and stay again, possibly bringing some friends or relatives along next time.

Great place for family Get together

  • 5 of 5

Right on the lake with a really nice dock/boat docking system that lifts your boat out of the water. Open living room/dining room/kitchen plan with lots of window light. Big and sturdy dining room table/chairs. Easy access to the deck for grilling or sitting outside. All the accessories needed including coffee maker, dishwasher, microwave, TV with cable, etc. Plus its got loads of room on either side of the house so you are not on top of the neighbors. Very clean. Would stay again!
