Grand Beachfront Estate: Best Views in Chatham

Bedrooms 6
Property type house
Minimum Stay 7 nights

About the property

House, 6 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 5 Baths, Sleeps 10 adults + 2 kids

This is a great home for multiple couples or extended families!

Relax and enjoy unbeatable views all day long.

This large beachfront property in exclusive North Chatham boasts 180 degrees of view, view, view. Look south to the fishing fleet and the outlet to the sea; east to Tern Island (a bird sanctuary), North Beach, and the Atlantic; and North to the town landing, Minister's Point, and the new North Beach break. Sip your morning coffee and watch the sunrise, or enjoy your afternoon drink in the fading light, watching the terns and gulls, the fishing boats, or the seals on distant sandbars.

Don't miss the views while you're indoors.

Our large, bright, updated kitchen with pantry, glassed-in eating porch, formal dining room with fireplace and formal living room with fireplace and grand piano all look east to the sea. Rooms are traditional Cape-style with comfortable furnishings. View more indoor photos at site listed below.

Sleeps 10 adults comfortably (3 suites for couples + 1 queen room, 1 room with twin bed, one room with double bed), plus there is a twin in each of 2 dressing rooms that adjoin master suites for children.

Two beautiful master bedroom suites with fireplaces, private decks, dressing rooms (each with a bed for a child), and baths; two double rooms with private baths; and two single rooms make this home a great place for multiple couples or a family. The house also has a small kitchenette or bar, and a second ''cocktail'' porch with picture windows. Lots of traditional comfort, beauty and charm!

Walk to the beach, bring your boats

Bring your own sea kayaks, sailboat or motorboat, or rent boats locally. The property has a private path to its own small beach and is close to a Town Landing. Town allows 2 weeks' anchorage without a mooring, and kayaks or rowboats can be kept at the end of the path on our private beach. Walk and ''tidepool'' on the sandbars at low tide, birdwatch on Tern Island, and sunbathe or swim from the private beach. Take your own or rented boat to explore Chatham Harbor, Pleasant Bay and uncrowded North Beach. Walk to the Fish Pier for your fresh daily catch, then grill dinner in the back yard. Kids can play croquet or Frisbee on the large lawn, roll down the hill, or fly kites. Watch the Chatham lighthouse beam across the night sky.

About Emily or Libby

Our extended family has been vacationing in Chatham for over 70 years. My grandfather bought Turntide in 1948 and retired there shortly afterward. We have all spent our childhood summers enjoying sailing, tennis, the fish pier, tide-pooling, clamming, and going to many many band concerts.

Emily or Libby purchased this house in 1948

Why Emily or Libby chose Chatham

Our grandfather chose Turntide over another well-known location (now the Wequassett Inn) because he loved the view to the ocean, the fish pier, and that it was walking distance to town.

What makes this house unique

My favorite part of the day at our house is early morning sunrise, watching the seals in the harbor, and the fishing boats heading out. Evening light is just as spectacular, the colors so rich. My kids' favorite part of the house is the land -- there is lots of room to run around before and after the beach. And Grandma's favorite time is all day -- some days she chooses to stay at the house and watch the goings on in the bay, without getting sandy!

Wonderful Family Vacation House

  • 5 of 5

We used to own a summer house in Chatham as our boys were growing up and wanted our now-grown children and their families to experience --- and relive the experiences -- of summer on the most beautiful town on the Cape. This house was perfect for our family of ten, including four grandchildren, six and seven y/o. Three large bedrooms on the upper level with beautiful panoramic water views, two kitchens, lovely airy breakfast room, and all the accommodations necessary for a perfect week and happy memories. Plenty of room so everyone had their own space without the cramped feeling that often characterizes summer rentals, even large houses. The children loved the immense back lawn for frisbee and whiffle-ball. Great patio for evening snacks and libations. Close to Chatham beaches and a 15 minute walk to town. This house had everything we needed. We look forward to returning.
