About Rael Donde
Angela is a Psychologist and Life/business Coach while Rael is a Resort Manager. We understand people's need for comfort, hospitality and efficient & friendly service. We spend a lot of time overseas and love travelling. As we work in the tourism industry (e.g. resorts) we understand the hospitality business and we do our best for our guests. The property is professionally managed by Irvine Property Management but we are also involved throughout to assure quality and to make sure our guests have a comfortable stay.

Irvine is consistently rated the safest city/community in the USA, the perfect place for enjoying the fantastic California weather. The condo is close to Laguna Beach and Newport Beach, close to wonderful shopping centres (South Coast Plaza, Fashion Island and Spectrum), and is close to attractions like Disneyland, Catalina Island, Knotts Berry Farm, Santa Ana Zoo, San Diego Zoo, Wildlife Park, etc.). Irvine has fantastic facilities such as pool and tennis. The resort itself has a heated (all year round) Olympic pool, an outdoor spa the size of some pools, fitness centre, etc. The penthouse itself is the most luxurious and modern in the entire complex, and is in the best location.

Sub-Standard Cleaning and Maintenance
Our experience with this apartment was extremely disappointing.
The problems we encountered fall into two categories: cleaning and maintenance. When we arrived, it was immediately evident that the apartment was far from adequately clean. The entryway runner was soiled and covered with spots; the kitchen floor was so dirty that we had wash it four times; the range was covered with grease. It was also obvious that little or no dusting had been done for a long time. Dust covered the shelves in the living room and kitchen, the floor and jacuzzi in the master bedroom. Moreover, the showers were on the grungy side with lime deposits on the walls; the outside patio deck was astonishingly dirty, and the barbeque there had food on the grill from former guests. For these reasons, as much as we like grilling, we chose not to use the barbeque during our stay.
As for maintenance, the linoleum kitchen floor has a sizeable piece missing, and the hardwood floors in two rooms are badly in need of refinishing. When we arrived, we found the towel rack in the second bathroom on the floor, various ceiling lights burned out, the living room TV not working, the GFIs and other electrical outlets inoperative. It took four phone calls over two days to get the Irvine property manager to answer us. When we asked why she hadn't answered our earlier calls, she said she was "in the field" and "didn't get them." To her credit, when she responded, she did send out very capable and cooperative people to deal with the various problems.
We do want to emphasize that the owner, who was out of the country, was admirably responsive in that he spoke in a timely fashion with the property manager about these problems, and also made arrangements for a Cox technician to come to the apartment to fix the living room TV. However, the salient point here is that as paying guests we should not have had to spend our precious vacation time encountering these issues, coordinating the various repair people, and doing a good deal of dusting and scrubbing on our own. All of these issues (and others we could name) should have been addressed before we arrived.
The result of all of these negatives was that we left the apartment a week early. To us, this was a real shame because we genuinely enjoyed the building itself. It's a lovely condo complex with a sparkling pool, exceptionally nice landscaping, and helpful, friendly people at the entry gate.
We enjoy an excellent reputation with regard to both cleanliness and maintenance, as evidenced by all our great reviews. However, we are disappointed that we did not meet the guests’ expectations on this occasion.
As soon as we discovered the unsatisfactory cleaning, we apologized and immediately offered to get the professional cleaning company back to re-clean the property to our own high standards, as we pride ourselves on our excellent record of cleanliness. The cleaning company were extremely apologetic, offering to send their cleaners back. We were disappointed that the guest declined this offer.
We use a LA professional cleaning company that specializes in short term rental cleaning and consistently maintains a high standard, but this is the first occasion that they let us down. The guest was absolutely right to notify our property manager.
We explain to every guest before arrival that we have contracted a local full time professional property manager from a reputable real estate company to address guest needs, but that if they cannot reach the manager for any reason, we are also just an email or phone call away. We are extremely responsive to our guests’ needs as mentioned by this guest, but the guest chose not to notify us as well.
We are pleased that the guest was very happy with the manager’s response, as indicated in the guest review: “To her credit, when she responded, she did send out very capable and cooperative people to deal with the various problems”.
As the guest correctly points out, we dispatched professional contractors immediately to address any reported issues. The electrician spent 2 seconds pressing the red GFCI switch which had tripped, and we had previously asked the guest to try.
We also sent a handyman a day later to replace a light bulb which the guest was unwilling to change with one of the spare bulbs.
We dispatched a Cable TV technician who immediately fixed an issue the company’s set top box. There are three TV’s, so the guest was never without TV. A small crack in the kitchen linoleum floor is being addressed as part of our routine maintenance. The rest of the flooring are beautiful hardwood floors, scheduled for re-finishing soon.
We are pleased that the guest recognized our efforts to address all issues immediately.
As all the issues had already been addressed within the first few days of their month-long stay, the guests departed earlier due to the fact that their plans had changed
What you see is what you get
The unit was truly FULLY furnished and ver clean. A quite community but with all the things you need. Owners were cooperative and kind.
Tropical Paradise Indeed!
I have just arrived back home after 3 fabulous months staying at this property. The condo is located on the top floor (4th floor) overlooking the pool. It has a balcony with BBQ where you can sit and enjoy the views. The owners have the penthouse stocked with everything you could possibly need. I never once needed something that wasn't already there. The condo has a stackable washer/dryer that made life very easy.
We had a dedicated parking spot in the parking garage that was right by the elevator. There is plenty of guest parking too.
Every morning I walked the condo grounds. There is a walking path that is approx. 1/3 mile. It winds around behind the buildings is lined with palm trees and grassy areas. It is very peaceful and a great way to get your day started.
Although the Metropolitan is close to John Wayne Airport, the only noise I ever heard was from an occasional helicopter.
The Metropolitan is within 8-10 minutes to Fashion Island and Balboa Island. There is a major shopping center (Target, Starbucks, Costco, Wholefoods, Homegoods etc) just 6 minutes north of the complex.
The owners Rael and Andrea are wonderful! All of my questions during my stay were answered immediately. My deposit was returned to me the same day I departed. I highly recommend this unit and look forward to my next visit!!
Exceeded our expectations - thank you
We throughly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful apartment which was well located in southern California. The property has many amenities such as steam shower, fireplace, outside BBQ with very clear instructions / details on how to use. All in all it exceeded our expectations.
Finally, the owner was a pleasure to deal with. Super efficient, prompt with any queries or enquires that we had. This is what compelled us to write this review. (we are not review people !!) Thank you for making it a most enjoyable stay where we were there for approx 32 days.
Enjoyed our stay immensely. Loved the pool, fitness, hot tub and lovely grounds. The condo was well-equipped and very comfortable. The owners were most helpful and the security staff and management were excellent. We highly recommend this home.
Location was great for shopping, dining, and not very far from Disneyland. Leaving early to Disneyland, the traffic was mostly coming from the other direction so it was an easy 15-20 minute drive to the parking garage. Some mornings the airplanes were a little loud during the week around 7am, but other than that I didn't really notice it. Furnishings were modern and nice. We had 4 adults and one child and there was plenty of room. The location also felt very safe and secure.
