This 800 square foot boathouse is built over the beautiful waters of the Caribbean in Caribe Pointe. Guests can dive from the dock into the soothing waters or launch a kayak from the dock and snorkel,or kayak through the nearby mangroves. The covered dock provides a breezy shaded area to lounge on the chaises or read in the hamock. The Boathouse has an Island feel with breezes circulating throughout. Island handmade louvered windows are a feature of the boathouse with an open kitchen/dining area and family room. There is a large kingsize AC bedroom and a large bathroom with a nautical feel. In the bodega under the boathouse, guests will find a washing machine and barbeque grill. There is plenty of space to grill the fish you have caught or bought on the Island. Spend your days just lazing and wind down with a sundowner on the porch. Each evening the viewing is spectacular as the sun sets over the hill and the stars open up in the clear skies.
Guests have access to the private pool and porches of The Main House when it is not rented.

Paul and Julie Michau live in Beaufort South Carolina. They travelled the world working for The Coca-Cola Company. They discovered Roatan in 2006 and built their dream house in this paradise. They are happy to share this gem with others seeking to Live!! Love!! and Relax!!
Paul Michau purchased this house in 2006
We chose Roatan because of its natural beauty, friendly easy going atmosphere, and ease of direct access from numerous US airports
Good road access, private and peaceful but close enough to the major grocery store and restuarants in French Harbour
We recently enjoyed a wonderful week at Seagrove Retreat.
So many activities from kayaking (singles/doubles with paddles provided) , great snorkeling nearby (gear provided), paddle boards, swimming in the pool or off the dock. Which is always refreshing.
Junior, Franklin and/or Tommy (care takers, who are the best!) can arrange most anything you need. From shuttle to and from the airport, to stopping by a large grocery store, and boat taxis. Call Marvin for a boat trip down the coast line (highly recommend this) , or lunch at Hole In The Wall for lunch or other places.
Spend your happy hour fishing from the deck of the casita or dock. Mostly small fish so for us catch and release, but much fun.
Early in the morning you will see the school bus boat pick up children and a fisherman came by the dock to sell us lobster.
Seagrove Retreat is peaceful and quiet, always a breeze so sitting on any of the decks provides a perfect place to relax and enjoy the view. The houses are tastefully decorated and furnished with all your needs. All was well maintained and clean.
Make sure you stock up at the grocery store as Seagrove Retreat is in a beautiful secluded area, with a rocky road and steep hill to get in and out. There are a fair amount of stairs on the property, we just viewed it as daily exercise.
The owners Paul and Julie are delightful and will answer all your questions.
Looking forward to our next trip to Roatan and would definitely stay here again!
The sound of the lapping waves will lull you to sleep.
Don't worry about typical island issues: there's a generator if power goes out, there's always Junior, Franklin and Simon to answer questions, help with the internet, your "lender" phone and watch over you. Yes, you'll have to look for the starfish every morning and keep tabs on the sea urchins that clutch to the sea wall, and yes you'll have to figure out how long it takes to kayak to the reef, but you will not want to leave. Our stay was planned to be one week but we loved it so much and we enjoyed our time with Paul so much that we stayed both weeks at Caribe Point. Not daunted by the mountainous terrain ( we domicile in Colorado now) our rented 4 wheel drive Nissan handled everything wonderfully ( we have a suggestion for care rental too if you're interested). We're relocating to the island and if planning holds will be back there during our transition. We can't thank Paul and the boys enough for sharing their Paradise and making us feel we belonged. Avanti!
My wife and I spent 9 nights to celebrate our 60th birthdays. I really can't add much more to the existing reviews except you can believe them. A great place for a self-sufficient couple. We didn't rent a car because as we knew from our visit over 20 years ago that the roads aren't great out in this area. Franklin and Junior picked us up at the airport in Pauls 'Beast' pickup and took us by a modernized grocery store to provision up. We shopped on the fly, but it worked out fine. We were able to buy lobster from a fisherman who stopped at the dock. We also managed to score some lobster and conch on the reefs nearby while snorkeling. All the toys are there for water play, but thankfully no 'waverunner'. Dories are available as water taxis to take you to nearby restaurants on the water if you want a lunch out. We enjoyed BJ's and Pokeys. The canal (mangrove tunnel) is pretty cool if you can catch a ride through there at high tide, and a quick ride over to Jonesville, or Oak Ridge for limited food/drink provisions (we didn't plan the rum supply correctly). We were lucky enough to catch a ride by ocean to Fantasy Island toward French Harbor for a lunch and feeding of the lion. Met some happy people over there. Thankfully, we met Paul on the last couple of days we were there and enjoyed spending time with him, a most gracious host. Franklin managed our maintenance issues handsomely considering the 'island time' effect. Junior was a joy and hooked us up with a lot of local knowledge. We felt secure because of his omnipresence on the property. Diving on the Mesoamerican Reef is the best you will find within 20 hours airline flight. This was only 3 hours from Atlanta.......
A lovely vacation with all needs met. Junior, the caretaker, was very helpful and not intrusive. We loved having access to the kayaks and paddle board. We kayaked through the mangroves to Jonesville and then out and around to the reef to snorkel. Snorkelling on the reef was a great experience and we had it all to ourselves. I enjoyed swimming right off the dock and feeding the fish. With coffee in hand we watched local children going to school on a boat and various fishermen in the bight. The cottage is beautifully situated on the ocean and well placed for driving to other parts of the island. We enjoyed a snorkelling trip on the catamaran Free Radical (Radical Adventures) which picked us up from Oakridge not too far up the coast. The house is in great condition, clean and well stocked. We found some great staples; various herbs and spices; salt and pepper; soy sauce and more. We mostly ate in but did visit a restaurant called Sirena? for an after snorkel lunch in Camp Bay. We had Lionfish and Grouper with rice and fresh vegetables and the home made key lime pie was delicious. The restaurant is small (seats 12) and is very picturesque perched on stilts, over the water with a thatched roof. There are quite a few steps to get to the cottage so you need to be able to deal with that. We did not have any trouble at all (we are in our early 60's) and on the sad day of our departure, Junior's grandson kindly carried our suitcases up to our car. We would recommend the cottage without reservation - peaceful, serene, and with Junior living at the entrance to Seagrove Retreat we felt quite safe.
We just came back from spending a month at the Boathouse. It was a wonderful time and we wouldn't have traded it for the world and hope to return next year. The property was lovely and well maintained. The boathouse is comfortable, has the basic spices and kitchen utensils and quickly felt like home. Junior, the caretaker, is extremely friendly and helpful and we miss him already. We chose not to rent a car and were told that trips to the grocery, etc. could be arranged or it is possible to rent a car from the property manager on a day by day basis. If you choose this route, be aware that you will be charged by the trip or if you rent a car from the property be aware that you will be renting an older private vehicle with no insurance and not in the greatest shape for the same price you can rent from Avis or Thrifty and you can arrange for drop off and pick up from the property. You can also call for a taxis. The property is equipped with kayaks, snorkeling and fishing gear, a paddle board and other fun stuff to keep you well occupied and happy. Be aware there are a lot of stairs and it is a steep climb, great for exercise but could be a problem is you have any physical or health difficulties. It isn't really an issue, but you should also be aware that because this is the "boathouse" if there are people in the main house you will be sharing the property, water equipment and dock and noise could be an issue. For large family groups you couldn't ask for a better set up. On "cruise" days there are tour boats that pass the house all day long. Don't get us wrong, we loved the place and we realize that most people will stay for a shorter amount of time and probably wouldn't even notice some of the things we did, but thought it was worth passing along. Any issues you might have, Junior will do whatever he can to fix it. We highly recommend kayaking into Jonesville and eating at Charlies. If you have a vehicle go out to the east end "up island" to Camp Bay Adventure Club and/or the Asylum or lunch and rum punches and Cal's is really good as well. Snorkeling at the mouth of the cove is amazing and beach combing is good as well. There is an octopus that lives right off the boat ramp, please say hello for us. Wishing we were still there instead of CO.
We spent 19 days in the wonderful dream Seagrove Casita.
Frankin met us at the airport, we made ??a stop at the grocery store or we could find everything you need for a delicious meal. And we are already in this corner of paradise. It is so much more beautiful than 8the pictures!
We as guests, the casita is welcoming, extremely clean, very well equipped kitchen, basic condiments, drinks in the fridge, king bed very comfortable, plenty of towels in the rarely seen ... in rentals. Franklin and Jr are very helpful and are always willing to make our stay memorable. Warren came to offer us fresh fish regularly. And a few meters ..... incredible snorkeling, hiking kayaking, mangroves and most typical villages. And again, we always felt safe.
Our friends had rented from neighbors and it was not comparable to a few dollars more do not hesitate, please choose Seagrove. Francine & Alain, Québec
We are 10 miles East of French Harbor off of The Jonesville Point Road. We are in Caribe Point bight and close to a famous mangrove kayaking channel
