This lovely cabin sits on the edge of the world and overlooks the Cuyamaca mountains range.
It is conveniently located near Heise Park biking and walking trails. Only three miles from the historical gold mining town of Julian and 80 miles from downtown San Diego and its beaches and tourist attractions.
Only a one mile stroll to the Pine Hills Lodge where you can enjoy the live performances of local talent and the Lodge restaurant bar. . . . or a great Sunday brunch. There are many fine food eateries and wineries in town, just three miles away.
Enjoy golfing at Warner Hot Springs Country Club, wine tasting at several local wineries, touring Anza/Borrego Desert, Cuyamaca Park and Cuyamaca Lake, Observers Inn and Palomar Observatory. A gaming casino is only 10 miles down the mountain. But don't forget to stop and enjoy the local apple pie at MOM's or at the Julian Apple Pie Company. Our favorite is Apple Alley's. Take a day to fish at nearby Cuyamaca Lake or tour a gold mine. There is a wonderful park for strolling, skateboarding or biking, just outside of the small town of Julian.
This comfortable cabin is completely finished with knotty-pine paneling, antiques and country decor. Spectacular views from the wrap-around decks, with gas BBQ. Bring your binoculars. There is lots of birdwatching.

My husband and I have been married over 50 years and have built several homes; but this cabin, in Julian, is our favorite. We have shared it with our family and friends since 2001. We opened it to renters fourteen years ago and have been blessed with the opportunity of meeting many new friends. Several families have returned for second visits and plan to return again for reunions. It is the perfect, quick, get-away place for a family or for couples to share and enjoy the quiet and beauty of the outdoors. It is also a perfect mainstay while visiting the San Diego area. Only an hour away from tourist attractions, but far enough away, and quiet enough, to think you have your own place in paradise. Come share our 'little slice of heaven' in the mountains of San Diego, California.
Chuck Howell purchased this house in 2000
Close to San Diego, but yet away from it all.
Like other reviewers mentioned, the cabin is more beautiful than its photos! The view is stunning. There are couple swing chairs on the porch to sit and relax. The cabin is clean, warm and filled with beautiful decorations. We had an enjoyable time in the cabin. Highly recommended and we would like to come visit again! The owner made an extra effort to help us feel comfortable. Thank you!
I find it hard to write a review for purely selfish reasons. I attempted on several occasions. I wish I had this place all to myself. Then again the real heart of this home is in how it has been shared and how you are made to feel as welcome guests.
Beth and Chuck have been so kind and generous over the years that I feel I have a moral obligation to share my families experience renting from them. My family of 5 have been here 4 times now and I really can't imagine a more ideal vacation retreat. Every time we go here we have plans to do this, go here, do that and expect to fill our days up with activities, which are plentiful and all very close. Without fail every time we set foot in this cabin we let all that fade away and simply……relax.
Such a comfortable home, what a warm and inviting place to unwind, kick your feet up and just enjoy the view. Thank you so much from our entire family for sharing your wonderful home with us!
AMAZING HOME !
Absolutely beautiful with such attention to every detail.
I visited this cabin with 7 friends for Labor Day weekend. It was perfect! The house has so much character and we felt at home the second we walked in the door. Whether it was taking in the sites of the valley below during the day or looking at the thousands of stars in the sky at night, the view from the back porch was incredible! We had everything we needed at the cabin, and the town of Julian was just a short drive away. Julian is quite a charming place as well! Trust me, you will be more than happy when you disappear from your usual daily grind and visit Julian and this cabin. It's the perfect place to go when you want to get away from it all for a while and just sit and relax.
We have rented other cabins, however, nothing compared to this experience. Dealing with the owners was positively wonderful. The cabin was more beautiful than the photos, large, beautiful, and very comfortable. The views from the outside decks are awesome. You could actually sleep more than 8, if needed. We were very impressed by the cleanliness since many rentals can be somewhat disappointing. You will not be diappointed if lucky enough to stay in this Julian cabin.
This Cabin is a great place for a Family Vacation or a group get away.
Conveniently located near downtown Julian CA, Wynola and Santa Isabel. The cabin has all the amenities for a great get away. It is truly a nice place to get away from the everyday grind and allow yourself to relax in a beautiful setting.
Old gold-mining town, located in the mountains of San Diego County. Rustic and friendly. Shopping, wineries and wonderful apple pie.
