About Daria Witt

My wife and I are both educators. We are both originally from North Carolina. I run a network of charter schools, and my wife does curriculum and professional development for a group of high schools for recent immigrants.

We have two boys, ages 4 and 2. We are relaxed, easy-to-deal-with people.

Daria Witt purchased this house in 2013

Why Daria Witt chose Brooklyn

We moved to Ditmas Park to have the best of both worlds -- a suburb in the city.

What makes this house unique

Ditmas Park is like no other neighborhood in the city. It has one of the largest collections of Victorian homes in the country. The neighborhood is great for walking and running, and there are many great restaurants and bars nearby.

Our house is GREAT for kids. We have a large (60-inch) tv for movies, a piano, a front porch with a swing, a backyard with a great playset, an indoor gym with a fun indoor playset/swing. A school playground is a few blocks away, and Prospect Park is a short bus ride away.

Great house for families - Amazing owners!

  • 4 of 5

I can't say enough good things about the owners of this beautiful house. They were extremely accommodating and went out of their way, even interrupting their own vacation, to make sure we had everything we needed. We had 9 people in the house and fit very comfortably - there's lot of room to spread out. We REALLY appreciated having a couple of places to park our cars. The playroom/gym was amazing! Our kids didn't want to leave.

Beautiful Ditmas Park Home - As advertised

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 8 were priviledged to vacation in this Ditmas Park, Brooklyn home during the first week of July, 2014. We were happy that the home was exactly as advertised. Daria was very helpful by providing information before our visit and when we arrived, there was written information about the home and surrounding places and things to do. With four generations of family in attendance, the home was perfect for us. The home occupied the 2nd and 3rd floors. Even though my mother is 80 years old, she was able to navigate the stairs. The younger ones stayed on the 3rd floor. The home was clean and we felt very comfortable.

For any considering this property, it is located in a very good area that is within walking distance to public transportation. It was about a 40 minute train ride to Penn Station. We also walked to restaurants of which my favorites were the Oxcart Tavern that had a wonderful lamb lasagna and Milk and Honey where Mom and I had breakfast during our stay.

My grandson enjoyed the children's playground in the backyard and made new friends with the neighbors. All in all, the house and location was a win-win. I would highly recommend to anyone considering staying in Brooklyn.

Thank you Daria and Doug.

Wonderful spacious Brooklyn apartment

  • 5 of 5

Recently spent four nights at this lovely 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom apartment in the Park Slope area of Brooklyn. It is clean, bright and very spacious and is in a great location on a beautiful street. Only a couple of short blocks to the subway and a block from beautiful Prospect Park. The Brooklyn Museum of Art is within walking distance and the apartment is conveniently close to shopping, restaurants, etc. The owners left us lots of helpful information about the neighbourhood, subway routes, and things to see and do in Brooklyn and Manhattan. They also have a huge binder filled with menus from local restaurants that deliver - all categorized by type of food. We really appreciated and made use of this! The apartment has modern appliances, a huge new television, and more than adequate supplies of bedding, towels, dishes, cutlery, etc., plus a dining room table that seats six. The owners are very pleasant and accommodating. We will definitely be recommending their apartment to anyone we know who is planning a trip to New York.

Awesome accomodations

  • 5 of 5

my family has operated a small inn in a major tourist area and i had defined expectations about our accomodations while in the N.Y./N.J. area - this condo beat all these expectations and perceptions.

The beauty and history of the building itself was inviting. It was very clean and anything we could have needed for our stay was at hand. Not being from the area and having no transportation we expected a hassle with getting around but we found its location so convenient and accessible to the subway system which was just a short walk. The condo's location also makes shuttle and taxi service very affordable and any events or attractions are within a 15-20 minute ride. The landlords left more than ample directions for all our needs along with recommendations and reading materials for us to peruse and plan our intinery. A large list of local eateries that deliver was also provided.

With all the amenities and accessiblity we were surprised with our united conclusion that the best part of staying at this condo was the people in the community itself. At night, while winding down from our days excursions, we sat on the steps outside and made many new friends. Their welcoming attitudes and friendliness was not anticipated but so appreciated - whatever information that the landlord didn't graciously provide we only needed ask someone walking by. It was a seemingly secure and safe area and we felt no qualms about taking a stroll to the wine shop or cafe.I can't even begin to name all the establishments withing a 2-3 block radius of the condo. We had everything we needed within the area and had a great time.

This condo is child ready if you have small children but also provides a perfect spot to kick back and relax after a full day of site seeing. We are already planning our next trip and would DEFINATELY recommend this property to others.

Care, Concern and Comfort...Thank you!

  • 5 of 5

First of all, I would like to thank Daria and her family for hosting us. They were more than accommodating and very helpful in the planning of our trip. My wedding was at The Brooklyn Botanic Gardens this past weekend and I started looking for accommodations for my family months ago. We wanted to have the option to walk and sightsee (if we were up for it) and Daria went out of her way to answer any questions I had. The location was beautiful, convenient to many Brooklyn attractions, and was more than enough room for my family of 5. The condo was very clean and we were supplied with all the linens, towels, and all the essentials we needed. It was a short walk to many great eateries and the subway (F train) into Manhattan. Both nights we made use of the binder in the condo, that had menus from hundreds of area restaurants. They even printed out a listing with a little description of some area restaurants and bars, so you know what to expect! We were also supplied with a list of things to do, with exact directions for transportation.

I couldn't be happier with our choice! This was a great place to stay with hospitality at it's best. The neighborhood is wonderful and the neighbor's are so friendly. Some gave me a thumb's up as I left for the Gardens on the morning of the wedding :). I would DEFINITELY stay here again and WILL refer this condo to others, over staying in a hotel. Even if you are planning to visit Manhattan more than Brooklyn, this is the better option with an easy commute. Thank you for caring where our comfort is concerned! It helped make our visit so enjoyable.

We loved this apartment - great place in very safe and cool area!!!!

  • 5 of 5

This was our first time renting on VRBO so we were a little nervous about what the apartment was going to be like but it turned out to be absolutely perfect! First of all, I completely fell in love with the area – Park Slope. It seems to be mostly made up of young couples with small children but it still has a very hip feel to it. We had planned to spend most of our time in Manhattan during our visit but ended up staying in Park Slope pretty much the whole time since it was such a cool area. There were a ton of great restaurants about 2 blocks away and Prospect Park (which is huge and had the exact feel of Central Park) is just up the street. The apartment is located only a couple of blocks away from the subway which will quickly take you into Manhattan. The pictures of the apartment really don’t do it justice; it’s very large (by NY standards), very cozy, comfortable and clean, and is located on a beautiful tree-lined street. We felt very safe walking around, even late at night, with a 5 year old toddler in tow. The owner was incredibly nice and helpful, and gave us a lot of suggestions on what to do and where to go in the area (plus, also left us a list of things to do and several NY guide books and a giant binder with local restaurant menus in the apartment). We couldn’t have been happier with our first renting experience and highly recommend this apartment!
