'We had a wonderful time in your cottage. Everything was perfect! Our memories of this quaint home will be with us forever because our daughter was married Saturday, and our stay here will be mingled with her sweet day. Thank you,'

'We enjoyed your cottage so much! It was our home and working base for the week of our daughter's wedding. This cottage gave us all a place to be at home-away-from-home. Thank you so much for such a wonderful memory.'

We really liked this place. We actually live in Santa Barbara but our house got flooded so we were staying here and we loved it! -May 2008
We had a wonderful time in your cottage while visiting our daughter and sister who lives in Goleta. It was a very special time since we celebrated our father’s 80th birthday. The cottage is a lovely place to stay. It was very warm and cozy. We’ll definitely keep it in mind for the next time. (The Netherlands – Europe) March 20-Ap

My wife & I have lived in Santa Barbara for 29 yrs and invite you to come visit our Charming Cottages. There is no place like Santa Barbara in the world and we think you will agree with us after you have stayed with us in the heart of the Santa Barbara. Known as the American Riviera.
Cherise purchased this Cottage in 2004
Why Cherise chose Hope
Our three Cottages are very charming inside and out. The landscape area surrounding the three Cottages matches the Cottages them selves. The San Roque area neighborhood is a very desirable area for locals to purchase Real Estate because of its family oriented life style and sought after school district. Also its proximity to beaches , shopping and Wine Country. We invested here because of all of these reasons.

Comfortable and convenient location
My teenage daughter and I rented the Ladybug Cottage to spend a couple of days in Santa Barbara before moving my eldest daughter home from UCSB. When we arrived at the cottage, we found the front door unlocked and were able to push it open. I figured that the maids had forgotten to lock it up, so it wasn't until we had unpacked and were leaving that I found that the front door could not be locked or secured. I let the property manager know and she finally stopped by the next day to take a look at the door. In the mean time we just didn't leave anything of value inside the cottage when we left. Since the door was not easily fixable, she let us move into one of the larger units for the remainder of our stay which was nice. My biggest complaint about the Ladybug cottage was that the bed was so soft that it hurt my back to sleep in it. Luckily we found firmer beds in the larger unit.
These cottages are not close to the beach, but if you don't mind driving they are a nice place to stay close to restaurants and shopping. The on street parking can be a challenge, but since we were the only ones staying on the property, we were able to park in the driveway. The hammocks, beach gear and outdoor areas are a nice place to relax.
We would stay there again. Good location.
Outdated amenities, lots of bugs, broken fridge, parking is tricky...
- Cute location, nice outdoor patio, good lighting in the cottage
- Fridge is super old, smells bad, and would not get cold even after 2 days of being turned on (Fridge is turned off and is warm when you arrive). Had to throw away food and drinks that we expected to keep in the fridge. Also, there was a random old egg inside the fridge.
- If you don't park directly in front of the cottage you risk getting your car towed. It's a private street, and not well kept. Tons of huge pot holes, and it is not clear where parking is allowed.
- Bugs, lots of them. One of the windows didn't have a screen, which we didn't realize until it was too late.
- Hot water took a long time to come on. Hot and Cold faucets weren't labeled in the shower. Normally this isn't a problem, but when it takes 5 minuets for the hot water to turn on, you start wondering which faucet is hot and which is cold.
- The TV is super old and useless. I mean, even the cheapest hotels have decent LCD TVs. This was a tiny old CRT TV from the 90s. Of no use.
- Make sure you take out your own trash before you leave, as the owners require it. Not really something I want to think about when packing up to go home after a short vacation birthday weekend.
Beautiful little gem
This house was almost perfect for my small dog and me. The yard was well fenced and quite large. I enjoyed coffee and the morning sun on the patio. It was exactly as pictured. TV reception included many great music channels which I appreciated and used all the time I was home.
The only drawbacks were no comfortable chair and no working freezer. I don't mind buying ice but there was no way to keep it frozen. The ice chest provided some help. The futon was very uncomfortable to sit on.
All in all, I liked it but a new refrigerator is vital and not that expensive.
We rented this place as a temporary place to stay because we had a water leak at our house and waiting for construction to be finished. We ended up not staying at all because it was a studio. It was advertised as a one bedroom, but once we got there it was teeny. Tiny fridge with almost no freezer and no bathtub. We have a one year old and a dog so a one bedroom was key for us. It just didn't work for us. It would be a great alternative though than staying at a hotel with a kitchenette because it's much cheaper. Just read the details of the home.
The cottage is small but very cute and clean. Nice french doors open onto an enclosed patio and there is a quaint side garden area. Cherise was great about giving us an earlier check-in time and addressed a problem with the bbq quickly. She allowed us some extra time to check out as well. The only down side was that the bed is so soft that it is uncomfortable to sleep in and the fridge does not really get cold. Overall, a very lovely and quiet place to stay.
