Unit 140 is conveniently located in building 21 in the middle of the property, away from the road and the lagoon with its noisy frogs. The airy upper floor great room has kitchen, dining area, and living room, along with front and back lanais. Downstairs are the MBR with kingsize bed and ensuite bath, a twin bedroom, a second full bath, laundry facilities, and a storage closet which may have boogie boards, water toys, and a beach umbrella in it. (I try to re-stock the closet each time I come, but that is only three times a year so I can't guarantee that any of the items will still be in the closet.) The feeling is of being in a tree house as there are large palm trees all around.
Unit 140 was decorated by the premier interior designer on Kauai and is furnished with some Asian antiques, interesting dining table and armoire, and beautifully upholstered wicker furniture.
Kiahuna Plantation is the only beachfront complex in Poipu. It is located on 35 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds and tropical gardens. The best swimming beach in Poipu is just a 3 minute walk down the path and across the grassy area. A unique feature of Kiahuna is the huge grassy area where guests can sit and read, enjoy the sunset, watch the whales, or just relax. Kids have plenty of room to run and play as well.
Many water activities are enjoyed by our visitors-- such as surfing (body or board), swimming, boogie boarding and snorkeling. Beach chairs and towels are complimentary for our guests at the Kiahuna Beach Hut just steps from the beach.
There is a nice pool, with water slide, whirlpool spa, and sandy beach just across the street along with complimentary tennis courts--an easy walk from unit 140.
In addition to the pool, there is also a nice fitness facility ( complimentary to guests) and a restaurant serving lunch --just next to the pool.
Scattered around the plantation-style beach bungalows are several gas BBQ grills if you wish to dine in and enjoy the sunsets. If you prefer to go out, there are several nice restaurants across the street at the Kiahuna Shopping Center, along with a Starbucks, and some interesting shops to browse. Again,an easy walk from unit 140.
On Kauai, you can have as much activity as you want...exploring the 'Grand Canyon' of Hawaii, kayaking rivers, hiking, biking, whale watching (in season), golf, tennis, and many water activities. There are two nearby golf courses - Kiahuna Golf Club across the street and Poipu Bay Golf Course (Hyatt Hotel) about a mile down the road.

Our family has been coming to Kiahuna since 1996. We all love the relaxing atmosphere, the abundance of things to do, and the convenience of its location--close to golf, tennis, dining, grocery shopping, farmer's markets.

Kiahuna is the only property in all the Hawaiian islands that has a beachfront location, low-rise buildings, and a huge grassy area in the middle which just adds so much to the ambience. Kauai is a low-key island and reminds us of what Hawaii should be like.

We stayed here for two glorious weeks and absolutely loved the unit! This is our 5th visit to Kiahuna Plantation and this was by far the best unit we have stayed in. It was spacious, peaceful and perfectly situated between the beach and the pool. The decor was very nice. We will definitely continue to book this amazing unit with our three young children in the future!

The accommodations were comfortable and tastefully decorated. We enjoyed the decor in the sitting areas and the spaces were ample for our family of 4.
I echo the sentiments of another reviewer regarding the outdated kitchen and bathrooms. That being said, it wouldn't prevent us from booking this property again.
The location can't be beat in that there are markets nearby as well as a Starbucks. Convenient to Waimea Valley and Port Allen for water excursions. Also very close to the airport--compared to Princeville--which is a bonus.
The bathrooms are being updated September 2016.
The decorator who did unit 140 worked hard to make it unique with some Asian touches and custom-made pieces like the armoire and the dining table. She didn't want it to look "condo-y!"
Beautiful condo in great location
We have stayed at the Kiahuna numerous times, and short of a beachfront condo, this unit was by far our favorite and is as good as they get. The location spills out onto lawn that is great for kid play, and it's a quiet end-unit one of the smaller plantation buildings, so it's really quiet. It also had boogie boards and a washer/dryer that made things super convenient.

Our son, wife, and 3 young children stayed here for a week during our family reunion. We were surprised to see how updated and beautifully furnished this unit was compared to many of the others at the Kiahuna Plantation. Very spacious 2- story, 2 bedroom condo which easily accommodated their family. We've visited the Hawaii islands on many occasions and found the Kiahuna to be our favorite.....can't think of a better place to spend time, especially with children and this unit is truly a gem. This unit is a bargain for what you pay and what you get compared to others at Kiahuna. Aloha...
Great location but condo dated
We recently returned from our stay at Kiahuna Plantation.
The great things about the condo we stayed at:
+ Excellent location: beach & many shops nearby
+ Tastefully decorated: living room was both roomy & cozy
+ Clean & tidy
The not so great things:
+ Outdated kitchen & bathrooms: some aspects of this were fine but some things weren't working well due to age.
+ Lots of little things broken here & there, e.g., sliding door was off hinge and bulb fixture hanging out of ceiling, and more.
Perfect get-away with young kids
We loved our stay in unit #140! It was perfect for my family traveling with a 3 year old and 9 month old. Because we spent more time indoors than we normally would (naptime), we appreciated the stylish, fresh décor (especially upstairs). Also, being an east/south-facing unit, the upstairs received beautiful natural light in the living/dining area. The upstairs porch even allowed a tiny sneak peak of the ocean (a bonus given this is technically a garden view unit) – again tiny peak, but I loved knowing I could technically see the water! Our 3 year old could not have been more pleased with his direct access to the beautiful lawn. It seems there was always another child to play with, and the parents instinctively took turns watching the kids. (Kiahuna is the friendliest place I’ve ever vacationed). The kitchen was well-stocked and we were perfectly content to cook fresh fish every night. The unit is perfectly situated between the beach (3-5 minute stroll), pool (5+ minute walk) and little shopping center where we caught a free Polynesian dance. The pool has a great little ‘beach’ area and water slide that kept my 3 year old happy for hours (other kids, as old as 10, looked so happy with the slide and little waterfall). We can’t wait to return.

Tax is 13.4166. Rates vary according to season. Guests will be responsible for paying the checkout cleaning fee directly to Castle Resorts upon checkout. Currently, that fee is $167.00 for 2017. Mid week maid service is included for stays of 7 days or more. Note that Vrbo has added a 4-10% service charge if you elect to pay by credit card. If you prefer to pay by personal check, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org. When paying by check, I require a 2-night deposit. Then balance is due 30 days before arrival.
