Overview

About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms + Loft, 3.5 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8)

AS you turn into the driveway to this perfectly serene setting, any stress you may have will magically disappear.

This special single level house sits next to a beautiful stream (actually the Hollenbeck River) on 3 quiet, peaceful acres in the northwest corner of Connecticut.

Surrounded by the picturesque Litchfield County towns of Lakeville, Salisbury, Canaan, Cornwall and Kent and to the north, the Massachusetts towns of Sheffield and Great Barrington. The location couldn’t get any better.

For music lovers, Music Mountain is just 15 minutes away, Tanglewood is an hour’s drive north, and the Yale Summer School, in Norfolk, holds frequent concerts. In winter, there are 3 ski resorts in the area and plenty of cross-country skiing in the state parks.

Inside the house, you will find vaulted and beamed ceilings, lots of French doors, a gourmet kitchen with stainless-steel appliances, a small office/study, and wide-planked wood floors throughout.

The 3 spacious bedrooms all have full bathrooms. Two bedrooms overlook the river. The third bedroom has steps leading to a sleeping loft. The living room / dining room / kitchen is an open floor plan with columns separating the living/dining areas.

The spacious deck outside the living room is the perfect spot to enjoy beautiful views of the river, pastoral fields and distant hills. There is a parking area outside the house as well a stand-alone one-car garage.

Beautiful, Clean Home

  • 5 of 5

Stayed at this beautiful home with a few friends to celebrate our recent engagement. We could not have been happier with our experience. Harvey was very attentive and responded very quickly to questions. The home was absolutely beautiful and was incredibly clean upon our arrival. The view of the river and the large field from the house was so peaceful. We can't wait to come back again in the summer and see what the area has to offer in the warm weather!!

Great space - convient location

  • 5 of 5

House is great - newly renovated - great open floor plan off the kitchen with a large living dining space for all to congregate - including a nice fireplace. You can see the stream just out the back windows and the farm fields as well. Very convient to Mohawk, Salisbury and the surrounding areas. Rooms and bathrooms are all large and clean. Nothing too fancy - just what you need. 2 large masters and a 3rd large master with a sleeping loft with two single beds. Perfect for our group of 2 couples with 2 kids each. Each couple had its own room and the kids all had their own room with plenty of space. All and all a very nice rental option for this area.

Wedding Weekend

  • 5 of 5

Stayed at the house with several friends while attending a wedding at Lion Rock Farm. The house was immaculate upon arrival and exactly as described. Owners are a pleasure to deal with and after our stay my deposit was promptly returned. I would definitely recommend this secluded property as a great alternative to the hotels in the area.

Perfect Weekend Escape!

  • 5 of 5

We were three adult couples looking for a relaxing weekend getaway between Boston and NYC. This was the perfect place. The area is great -we stopped at some adorable small towns, went on a fabulous hike and loved exploring such a beautiful part of the state. The house itself is on a gorgeous piece of property on a pretty river with old trees and open fields. Picturesque. The house was perfect for us. There is a great big kitchen for cooking, big family room with fireplace and three very private bedrooms all with private baths. The owners were great communicators who were kind enough to allow not only us but our dog. I would love to come back (and probably will!) and would definitely recommend the house to anyone looking for a well decorated, clean and peaceful getaway.

Great Reunion Weekend House

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I met up at this property for a New England end-of-summer reunion (we're all spread out over the country these days). When we first arrived at the house, we were all stunned at the modern interior design and the interesting layout (we all argued over who would sleep up in the loft!).

The house more than comfortably accommodated the 8 of us. The kitchen/dining/living room area was great for hanging out, cooking and chatting. We spent quite a bit of time outside on the deck and in the yard playing yard games. We grilled out on the Weber grill both nights. The one recommendation for being outside would be to bring a decent amount of bug spray--the property is along a gorgeous river that, if slow-moving (which it was when we visited), is a breeding ground for mosquitoes. That said, with a little spray, the bugs weren't bad enough to force us indoors.

Overall, we had a great weekend enjoying the property. I would definitely recommend it if you're looking for something in this area. It's quiet and beautiful. Can't go wrong! Also, the security deposit came back swiftly as well, which was appreciated. I would definitely return to this property.
