About the property

Beautiful waterfront home on 4 acres with breathtaking views of the Esopus Creek, Broad Hollow Stream, and Mountains. Guests have always been in awe of the beauty of the setting. Only 1 mile from Phoenicia border-3 miles from Village. Secluded to be a great party house or romantic couples retreat, but not isolated as it is conveniently located on a private road off of Rt 28. All the comforts of home with a fully equipped kitchen, cozy fireplace, and an exercise room with two recumbent bikes and fitness equipment. Amenities also include cable tv, hi-speed wireless internet, and a washer/dryer. Each room has TV & DVD, or maybe you'll prefer listening to the rushing Esopus which can be heard from virtually every room in the house. The lawn is great for sports, running around, or having a campfire. The magnificent 60 foot deck was built for a party and has a section that is covered so that you can stay dry and take a nap outside listening to the rain gently dance on the tin roof.

What A View!

Review Submitted: March 28, 2009 Date of Stay: March 2009

We really enjoyed our weekend there. We were 10 people; 6 adults and 4 children. The view from the house was incredible. I would recommend this house for all seasons. We stayed during the ski season, but I can imagine that it would be a beautiful place all year round. Owner was very accommodating. Wanted to make sure we enjoyed our weekend. House was nice, updated and clean. We can't wait to go back next year. Thanks again Mike!

We rented this house at the end of May, to allow our son to flyfish in the area for his high school graduation gift. This house is amazing, and you couldn't ask for a better, more private yet convenient location. My son (age 18) took photos of the house and said he wants one just like it some day! The bedding was VERY comfortable, and we loved the porch out back-great views, lovely breeze, and oh so quiet! The owner was very accomdating - great communication from start to finish. I can't recommend this place highly enough - you will NOT be disappointed if you want a quiet place to relax that's close to restaurants, etc. The town itself is very small and laid back - perfect for a relaxing getaway. If you're fishing, check out Hank Rope (lives near this town) as a guide - so helpful.

Perfect late-summer weekend with friends

  • 5 of 5

I planned this trip for my friends and I to get away from the city for a long weekend and just relax and spend time together. The house was great, and the yard was perfect for us to play volleyball, sit by the creek, and BBQ. Mike was super helpful throughout the booking and check-in process as well. I hope to be back again next summer!

Excellent home/

  • 5 of 5

The property is absolutely beautiful. The owner Mike is accessible and answers all questions. It is close proximity to Phoenicia which is a quaint town, Woodstock, and Windham and Hunter Mountain. The house has everything you need and if anything is needed that they have not supplied they take care of it immediately. It was an absolutely beautiful fall weekend and we waited for the bald eagle which had its nest across the creek which is visible from the house. The setting is secluded but easy to get to. This was one of the best family vacations we have ever taken and we plan on returning next year

Beautiful, Spacious and Convenient.

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I loved the house. Had an excellent birthday weekend where we played yard games on a freshly cut, level, huge lawn for about 6 hours a day. BBQing, hanging out at the river and relaxing by the huge fire pit made this a weekend to remember. Thanks Mike!

Shandaken is located in the center of the beautiful Catskill Mountain Forests Preserve and 3 miles from the quaint town of Phoenicia which offers unique shopping, delicious food, and tubing down the Esopus Creek. Only 12 miles from Woodstock which offers a wide variety of shops, restaurants , music and cultural events. The drive there offers beautiful country roads and views.
