nice

  • 4 of 5

The house was big, and fit us perfectly. Loved the decks. saw lots of wildlife. Baby lizards everywhere ,birds, deer and a family of otters. As Adam said it is an older home and does need some work . The only unfortunate thing was the algae and dead fish. Dock , ladder and ramp was so thick we couldn't use it. On the last two days , the water was unusable ,100s of dead fish. that was not the owners fault. They had wine and popsicles waiting for us. Had an issue with the showers, they had someone there in a couple hours.turns out we were at fault.Overall a nice vacation.

Perfect place

Had a lot of fun playing in the water with the kids and dogs. Great evening views on the cool shady deck. The bedrooms were great, the living room comfortable, the kitchen well-equipped. Great place.

Great House, Horrible Lake

  • 3 of 5

Let me be clear, this house is great. We had a large group there for a week and the house was big enough to not feel confined. The AC works great!!! The week we were there the temperatures hit 108+ which is why we were so happy the AC worked. The house has 1 large deck where we spent much of our time after sunset. The monkey bar is really cool as well. There is also a small deck off the basement that remains shaded the entire day.

The negatives: The upper platform was closed which disappointed many. We were hoping to jump into the lake as advertised on the ad. Once we did arrive we determined that no one would be swimming. The water was HORRENDOUS! The smell alone would stop you in your tracks. In addition there were hundreds of dead fish in the lake, around the deck on the ramp. They were everywhere. If this house was anywhere else we would be booking the trip for next year. I'm assuming this lake is for fishing only and not for recreational boating. We learned that the hard way and wasted a week. DISGUSTING lake, GREAT house.

July VaCa

  • 4 of 5

Nice location, cool breeze off the lake at nite. Enjoyed dinner on the deck every nite. Some work is needed, (mainly paint, dock update) but totally enjoyed our stay. The grandkids totally loved the family play room, and all slept together, (5 of them) on air beds we brought up.

House needs work before it gets rented again

  • 1 of 5

We had high hopes for our stay at this home that were immediately crushed with the water system going down for the count on arrival. We had a large family with small children in a home with no water for flushing, cleaning or bathing/showering first thing upon arrival until late afternoon the next day. It was rough hauling lake water for the toilets & using our container water for all else. The grills, the kitchen, the janky microwave that had to slammed shut several times to work, the large upper deck that felt like it needed work or maybe replaced, the rusted dock area, the kayak with a hole in it that one family member had to swim towing the kayak back (good thing he was a good swimmer). It was all a little much & we all voted in unison we would not return. Fortunately for us our family enjoys each other a lot & we made the best of it in spite of all the hardship in dealing with a home that had so much deferred maintenance we had to work extra hard to make it through. One of the beds in the middle bedroom downstairs should be thrown away! This is not a bed, it was one many years ago but now is just a noisy, squeaky piece of garbage with springs sticking out of it making it so uncomfortable the air mattress we brought was a much better choice. The location of the home is deceptive making you think there is an opportunity to have your boat there, but the lot is figured so that's impossible since you would never be able to maneuver your car/truck and boat to the area to launch it. So that's a feature that was misleading. We learned a lot about what we need to make sure of & what we for sure don't want. The price was too expensive for this place & we are certainly willing to spend more in order to have a level of at the very least, a well maintained property where all the features we plan on using work properly. The property management person was very considerate & helpful, thanks to her we had water the next day and we were so grateful. I hope some type of compensation is given for our struggles through the whole weekend staying in this home.

Pretty good lake house

  • 3 of 5

Stayed in Adam's place beginning of June 2017. The family (11 of us) had a good time there overall.

Pros:

We caught a lot of fish from the dock. The kids had a great time with this, didn't take long to get a bite and land something small.

The place was private and didn't see neighbors until the last day of our stay.

The firepit was nice, we spent time sitting around it every night.

The property is pretty close to amentities. The city of clear lake was close by and there were wineries close by as well.

Adam responded to emails prior to our trip promptly.

Cons:

The place needs some work. I took a look at the pictures posted after we returned from our trip. The pictures are old. The dock had a few soft spots and one of the kids actually put a foot thru. Many of the doors don't close easily. The back deck off of the living room also had some soft spots. Nothing terrible, totally expected at an older lake house.

The thing that sold me about this house when I was booking was the game room. I visioned the kids playing pool and throwing darts everyday. The pool table was useless. I racked a set of balls and as soon as I pulled the triangle, the balls rolled to the middle of the table. Even if the table was stable and level, there wasn't a usable poolstick there. Ping pong table's net wouldn't stay up. Only two serviceable darts in the house. We spent zero time in the gameroom during our stay.

Another item that sold me on this house was the boats or kayaks in the listing. There were 4 kayaks at the house. Two were 1 man and two were 2 man. All four kayaks had holes in the hull and the one kayak with the smallest hole would sink in about 5 minutes. All four kayaks were useless.

Bugs were an issue. I spent a good deal of time the first day dealing with cob webs around the house. The roof of the dock was covered with them.

The beds were horrible. Far from comfortable, especially the middle bedroom downstairs.

So, the family and I were looking for a lake house experience and we got it. If the pool table, kayaks, and beds were taken care of, I would have rated this property 5 stars because I would have felt that I got what was expected. All the other issues were small issues expected at a lake house.
