More than a Lake House

  • 5 of 5

- Smooth booking experience

- Very detailed information regarding the house provided prior to arrival

- A typical lake house but full of entertainments such as ping pong table, pool, kayak, BBQ which we took full advantage of, and best of all a TERRIFIC VIEW of the lake!

- Extremely friendly host who extended a warm welcome to us

- Will definately book again if going to Clearlake again

No fun

  • 1 of 5

The inside of the home was acceptable. The thing about this home was the situation with the water in the home. After paying for the rent for the days we were staying, we got the instructions for the home a week before our vacation. It was only then that we were informed that the water for the house was pumped in from the lake. They said it was filtered in the pumping system. If this was disclosed in the original description on HomeAway we would have looked for something else. Considering the short time before our vacation we had no choice but to try it and hope for the best. The water at the house had such a strong sulphuric/rotten egg smell that it made it really hard to take a shower. They at least had supplied drinking water or it would be uninhabitable. Called the property manager and she basically said “yeah, this happens this time of year and we will probably come out and check out the pump filters” . A little late to help us. It pretty much put a damper on the vacation as nobody really felt comfortable with the water. Also the dock is in serious need of repair as it hasn’t seen any in what appeared to be decades. Would never rent or recommend anyone to rent this property!

Spacious and fun, but too rustic

  • 3 of 5

We loved the fact that it was very spacious, with enough space for all of us.

I think you can fit 15 or more! That's how spacious the house is.

The issue... Water smells like sulfur... so it is a bit of a turn off to even wash. Though there are some big water bottles that we were able to use to cook and wash our food. Luckily, we love outdoors and many of us were used to backpacking and worst situation, some of us were not, and they were not very happy.

We thought it was a bit overpriced for the condition it was.

nice

  • 4 of 5

The house was big, and fit us perfectly. Loved the decks. saw lots of wildlife. Baby lizards everywhere ,birds, deer and a family of otters. As Adam said it is an older home and does need some work . The only unfortunate thing was the algae and dead fish. Dock , ladder and ramp was so thick we couldn't use it. On the last two days , the water was unusable ,100s of dead fish. that was not the owners fault. They had wine and popsicles waiting for us. Had an issue with the showers, they had someone there in a couple hours.turns out we were at fault.Overall a nice vacation.

Perfect place

  • 5 of 5

Had a lot of fun playing in the water with the kids and dogs. Great evening views on the cool shady deck. The bedrooms were great, the living room comfortable, the kitchen well-equipped. Great place.
