About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

This ocean front home in Prospect Harbor, built in 2008, is situated on a wooded lot overlooking a beautiful rocky coast. The spacious three bedroom, two bathroom cape style home offers an open floor plan with wonderful views of the bay and Prospect Harbor Lighthouse. This home is fully furnished and comfortably sleeps six. All bed linens, towels and blankets are included.

From the property, kayak in the bay, fish, or just enjoy the fresh ocean air as you pick your way over the rocks and slabs of pink Maine coast granite. The large deck, running the length of the home, is a wonderful place to relax with a book, sketch the ocean views, or enjoy your meals listening to nature. Be alert for sightings of the bald eagles that nest in the area.

Prospect Harbor is located on Gouldsboro Peninsula approximately 5 miles from the entrance to the Schoodic Peninsula section of Acadia National Park. The seven mile loop around Schoodic Point is ideal for hiking and biking. For those less adventurous, drive the scenic loop and stop along the way for views of Frenchman's Bay and Mount Desert Island.

From Schoodic, drive into Winter Harbor and grab a bite to eat at one of its the several restaurants. Shop at the local stores and galleries, scout out bargains at the 5 and 10, or take the ferry boat to Bar Harbor. A short drive from Winter Harbor to Grindstone Neck brings you to a public 9 hole golf course with views of the ocean from every green.

A charming home on the water

  • 5 of 5

The home was tastefully decorated and had a great floor plan. We were pleased with the cleanliness of the home. It is located in a quiet area and the restaurants and service do close quite early, so plan accordingly. The house is located on the water with a view of the harbor and a short path to the shore. It is a great place for relaxation.

Feels Like Home

  • 4 of 5

My family and I stayed at this house in beautiful Prospect Harbor this past 2014 season. We had a great time, as we love our Maine vacations. This house was just the right size for our family of 4. It is nice and open in the main living area with a beautiful view of the lighthouse at Prospect Harbor. This is one of our favorite locations in Maine. We felt right at home and so comfortable! We saw an eagle, osprey (up close!), deer, and even a porcupine which climbed a tree and took a nice long nap. At dark, be sure to stargaze out on the deck for a fantastic view of the stars.

The owner of the house was great to deal with. Any time we had contact before and after our stay, our emails or phone calls were answered promptly. The house was clean and ready for our visit.

We would recommend this property for a small family, or up to 6 people would be a comfortable fit. The rocky shoreline at the property was fun to explore! There are plenty of other sights to see and places to visit that are close by. One of the favorites is Schoodic Point where the ocean meets the huge Maine rocky coastline. There are lots of trails to hike there, as well as at Acadia National Park. And leave lots of time for relaxing!

Enjoy!!

Special property

Open concept house right on the ocean, pictures represent the beautiful, modern amenities. Perfectly decorated (minimal) and one bedroom on the first floor that opens to the oceanfront deck. Exceptionally clean and well maintained and the owner has thought of everything you could possibly need during your stay. Sit on the deck to watch lobster boats, seals, eagles, and listen to the green buoy (bell) sounding the waves. Great location, quiet, wooded surroundings and the sound of the ocean makes it perfect.

Owners are great to work with and very helpful.

A must visit is to the 5&10 store, Chases, Bunkers Harbors Wharf Restaurant and Fisherman's Inn Restaurant. There's also casual dining on the wharf in Corea with lobster and crab right off the boat. We watched as they brought them in.

Perfect vacation in a wonderful home; we'll be back.

Terrific Property!!

  • 5 of 5

What a great choice we made to stay in your beautiful home for our first vacation in Maine! We had a terrific week there and were so very comfortable. Loved your home's open floor plan, the beautiful views and the quiet and peaceful location. We did lots of sightseeing along the Maine coastline and enjoyed every minute of our vacation even with some inclement weather. Winter Harbor was a delightful place. It was a pleasure to work with you and we thank you for sharing your oceanfront home with us. We would love to stay there again someday!

My wife and I stayed here...

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed here for a month and I can't say anything too excessively wonderful about the house, the location and the area. As stated by the owner, the house is only a year old and in impeccable condition. The living area, above the basement, is large with sliding glass doors opening onto a wonderful deck with table, chairs and gas grill. Inside, the sitting area looks out through the glass doors to the gorgeous bay which at high tide is about 30 yards or so from the house. At low tide several rock spits extend out and serve as gathering spots for gulls, cormorants - and eagles and loons! To the rear of the sitting area is modern, fully equipped kitchen, table and chairs. On the same level are a bedroom, laundry and full bath. Upstairs are two bedrooms, hall with sky light, and a full bathroom. The beds are either king or queen size. The house is tastefully furnished from top to bottom. Part of Acadia Park is on the south end of Schoodic Penninsula and just a few minutes drive from the house. The drive through this part of the park is short but the views are so astounding that many stops - and many drives - are required. There are many, many great places to visit. We are bird watchers and loved every minute of our stay.I could go on at length but I'm afraid it might be a little exhausting to read.
