About The Owner

Carol and Mark moved to Jamestown from Connecticut 12 years ago because they fell in love with the area while visiting on vacation. Both are entrepreneurs; Carol has owned and operated her own portrait studio for many years in Ct. and now creates digital art PHOTOGRAPHY of local spots. She still loves to photograph animals and children. Mark swopped his design/build business in order to fulfill his desire and passion for cutting edge technologies by inventing and developing a new design for charging stations for the electric vehicle.

The Owner purchased this house in 2005

Why The Owner chose Jamestown

This is a unique destination with very picturesque views wherever you travel on the island. The traffic is minimal with only one traffic light on the whole island. You will find lots of wide open space, waterways, farm lands and visitas of the Bay and ocean, whether you're downtown, at the lighthouse, the beach, the forts/parks or the historic windmill.

What makes this house unique

This property and home is much like a mini resort. Whether you like to sit quietly and watch the fish, listen to the birds, of which there are many species, swim, walk around the ponds in back or tour the island. Completely private and tranquil. A week is hardly enough!!!!

Guestbook comments from the owner

"Exceeded everyone's expectations and then some."

We were a group of 10, ages 87 to 17, attending a family affair in Newport. I could not have been happier with Kismet and the owners. The pool and deck area were in constant use, and served as the dining room many nights. Having the gas grill on the deck was a huge plus, after you visit Zekes fish market, there is nothing better than grilling your fresh catch! The kitchen easily handled the 10 of us and the bedrooms were all good to very good , again we found a place to sleep for them all. Having the large yard made it nice to throw the football around, or go for a run in the beautiful neighborhood. The home is large enough that those that needed space ( and that can happen on a family trip) could find it with no problem. The location was great, Jamestown was only 5 to 10 minutes away ( groceries, beverages and restaurants) as was the bridge to Newport. Overall from the 17 year old to the 87 year old we all agreed this was one of the best trips we have ever had together.

Perfect setting for family reunion

  • 5 of 5

This was the second stay for my multi-generational family of five adults and three young children. We love this beautifully maintained home complete with pool and large yard with beautiful gardens. There are comfortable rooms for all of us to be together and separate areas for families to have space for themselves. We went to the beaches in Newport, out for dinner, rode bikes, enjoyed the charming town of Jamestown, hiked at Beavertail, but mostly enjoyed being together at Kismet. We would stay again in a heartbeat and recommend this lovely home to everyone.

Great multi-generational family vacation retreat

  • 5 of 5

My family of two daughters, sons in law and my grandsons enjoyed a very special week at Kismet. The house is beautifully appointed, with areas we could all be together comfortably (kitchen, living room, spacious deck, pool area) and other semi-private areas where you could visit in smaller groups. The grounds are beautiful, from the koi pond with blooming lotus and a small waterfall, the pool and large yard with full growth trees. Jamestown is a charming, quieter island alternative to Newport and Narragansett with lovely restaurants, great cycling, kayaking, walking trails, fresh fish and vegetables, and lovely views everywhere. We would love to return next summer.

A dream come true.

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I were hoping to have a restful and fun week's vacation with our grown daughters and their families. At Kismet we certainly had an absolutely lovely time. The home and grounds and pool are so beautiful and we instantly felt right at home and relaxed and pampered in luxury. Everyone enjoyed a magnificent time, so much so we hope to stay at Kismet again next year. Thank you so much for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home!

Kismet Vacation

  • 5 of 5

Our family rented this beautiful house in late August 2015. We absolutely fell in love with Jamestown and this home. It was a great, peaceful location within minutes from Newport. My son loved to swim in the pool at night and I loved to taking pictures of the beautiful gardens and koi pond. It was a vacation that we will cherish for years to come. Would love to return to Kismet soon!

(This is my third try to write a review!) To be brief: The house and hosts are just the best! We loved the decks, the yard, the pool, the pond, the neighborhood and Jamestown. Lovely setting. Kitchen worked really well and we were so comfortable there. Would definitely like to return!

Family vacation

  • 5 of 5

Our entire extended family of 10 adults and 3 grandchildren had a great time at the house. Everything was perfect, from the pool to the outside dining area to the large lawn. It was also close to the village, the beaches and Newport itself.
