About Debbie Tierney
We traveled the East Coast for a year and this was the best community and location. My husband, Mike, does Charter fishing in shore, off shore and near shore and shrimping charters in the summer. In the fall we have a duck and bear hunting business.
Why Debbie Tierney chose Nags Head
We built this home for ourselves and when the kids left it was way too big for 2 people. We made every room oversized with lots of separate areas for different activities. We still live right here in Pirates Cove but I sure miss the view from this house.

Myself and my husband rented this house with 4 other couples for our friends wedding on Jennette's pier on Friday night. For reference we are 3 dentists, an orthopedic surgeon, and an auto repair entrepreneur (not a group of college kids as we were treated). 3 of the 5 wives were pregnant and we brought no kids. This was your typical 30+ year old outdated rental which I would have been somewhat fine with had my experience after leaving the house not been what it was. This house is also a far cry from "luxury". The rental listing referred to it being 6 bedroom 5 baths. The house in reality is 4 bedroom, 5 baths with a bonus room/basement (with a bunch of beds stuffed in them). The MLS listing for this house also refers to 4 bedroom, 5 bathrooms. This was quite unfair for the 5th couple who had to stay in the dusty/dreary basement. We also found broken furniture (which we were later blamed for), the door handle in the master bedroom was broken so we had to wedge our shoe underneath to keep it closed, old mildew riddled towels. tons of dust (leading to asthma), old beds and a general lack of updating in the residence. We all actually left a day early, staying only 2 nights. When leaving we picked up everything, filled up the dishwasher (left the additional dishes in the sink), consolidated all the trash into a single bag in the kitchen and pulled all of the sheets off the beds.
After our return home I received a very aggressive call from the home owner whom was away on vacation. She accused us of destroying her house, breaking her furniture etc.. She also referred to us as "disrespectful yuppies" (we are all 35-45), who are the ones who typically leave her house in this shape. This statement seemed odd as she also stated in 14 years "NO ONE" had ever left her house in this shape. After repeatedly asking her to stop screaming at me, I offered to cover the cost of any additional cleaners she needed. Again this seemed odd, as the house could have easily been cleaned and ready to see new guest within 2-3 hours with a 2 person cleaning crew. I promise anyone reading this that it was not left in bad shape. You expect a cleaning crew to come in after you and sweep and mop and do the sheets, at least I thought so.
I'm not sure if this phone call was due to a poor cleaning crew who were upset they had to clean or a homeowner angling herself to get more money from us but I would caution anyone looking to consider other accomodations.
Stunning Houe with Stunning Views
We really loved staying in this house, great for inter generational family events with plenty of space for everyone. We loved sitting on the terrace watching the boats sail by and listening to the waves. Sunsets can be watched fromthe front balcony. Roanoke Island is a great place to stay with plenty of things to do and we enjoyed learning about The Lost Colony as we come from Devon in England where the boat set sail. The Outer Banks were easily reachable for those who wanted real ocean swimming though the sound was good enough for the 'oldies'. On one or two cooler days the hot tub was very popular. We had a really enjoyable week.
Thank you for the review, it was a fun connection to our original roots to have your family.
Lovely location, view beautiful
Our family was there for our granddaughter's wedding in Manteo. It was a great spot for all of us to be together, close enough to the venue, and large enough for anyone to "get away for quiet time" if desired. Being between Nags Head and Manteo gave us the best of both...love the quaintness of Manteo and could enjoy the hub-bub of Nags! The owner was quite accommodating and concerned that our needs were met.
Perfect Mother's Day retreat
We looked at hundreds of houses for Mother's Day weekend. We came with 4 generations of Mother's and this house was perfect for everyone. The elevator came in handy and the view couldn't be beat. The house was very clean and the owner, Debbie, left us a nice basket of treats for all the Mothers. I personally loved the living room furniture. I was asleep in those recliners in no time. The kids enjoyed the hot tub and crabbing off the dock. The only downside was that it went too fast. We are looking forward to coming back for a week in the summer.
We had a wonderful stay at this property. The property was clean and spacious. The weather wasn't great but there were plenty of activities from crabbing to indoor games and equipment. We enjoyed sipping our morning coffee sitting in a warm room and watching the water. A highlight was watching the Osprey nest and the mother feeding the baby chicks.
The Pirate's Cove restaurant had great food and within walking distance. We would definitely return in the future.
Debbie was a wonderful host and the house was perfect for our family ranging in age from 26 to 60!
We came for a winter wedding and this house worked great for our group. The rooms were bright and the house had lots of interesting amenities. It’s right on the Sound and the view was spectacular! We loved the hot tub and played lots of air hockey & pool. I highly recommend this home for adults or mixed families.
Ideally located right on the Sound with an awesome view of the sunrise in the morning, and the sunset on the bay side in the evening. A short drive by boat or car will take you to the Manteo Waterfront shops and dining, Roanoke Island Festival Park, The Elizabethian Gardens, The Aquarium and so much more. Travel north on 64 just 2 miles to the Tanger Outlet Mall where you'll find many designer stores at outlet prices. Continue North up to Corolla to see the wild horses that still roam the beaches. Take a day trip South past the Hatteras Lighthouse and take the free ferry over to Ocracoke Island and their quaint villages. Other Activities: wind sufing, hang gliding, go karts, mini golf, jet ski rentals, jet pack, parasailing, lasertag. Something for everyone. 3 Floors, 5 decks and an elevator make this home user friendly rain or shine.
