Studio, Apartment, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2), close to Park entrance
Welcome to Joshua Tree, a desert community of rugged mountains, playful granite piles, magically quiet nights, peace and solitude and all the rock climbing, picture taking and sightseeing you yearn for in your travels here. The studio apartment has it's own parking, drive, entrance, porch and outside area. it has privacy fencing, sound proofing, and extra thick walls to make your apartment stay a wonderful experience.
You can relax on the studio patio and take in the wondrous panorama of the skyline of Joshua Tree National Park. Just recharge and enjoy nature’s gift of wildlife and wild scenery. Enjoy the constant chatter of our cactus wrens, whose nest is a few feet from the patio or the family of quail who roost overnight in the yucca not far from your door. Perhaps a coyote will sing you a song. This is our desert music, a concert that welcomes you.
The studio is furnished for two. A comfortable bed, sparkling clean rooms, a kitchenette with a microwave, small refrigerator, coffee maker, toaster, frying pan and a variety of pots and pans, utensils and spices which should make anyone who enjoys cooking happy.
The porch sports a gas BBQ and affords privacy, comfort and incredible views of the park. When you’re ready for that walk the hiking trail is an easy 5 minute walk away. The Joshua Tree Highlands, where our studio is located, is a series of sandy roads, seldom traveled, where we all take advantage of our special surroundings with an evening walk.
If your sights are more ambitious we can provide you with horseback riding, rock climbing and biking, guided by local professionals. Or, you could travel into the park and visit the Wonderland or Parker dam or hike through any of a thousand granite valleys.
We are blessed with several super music festivals and Pappy and Harriet’s in Pioneer town offering a great music venue. With spiritual retreats and yoga centers, with alternative health care, with fine health food stores, for such a tiny spot you’re sure to find something exciting to do. Enjoy your stay and come back.

Piper and her dog Ivy, she is a gardener, rockhound, has a hound and loves the desert.
Piper purchased this Apartment in 2005
Why Piper chose Joshua Tree Highlands
I once had a bed and breakfast in Hawaii and when building this home could not resist but to put in a small vacation rental studio that would be charming and affordable to adventurous travelers.
What makes this Apartment unique
It is so quiet here, there are only the sound of birds and coyote choirs. Wildlife is abundant, and happy. The starry nights are vivid, partly because of low light pollution and the lack of humidity in the atmosphere. The milky way is velvety and bright here.

Cozy studio with friendly host
Coyote's Rest was clean and had a nice assortment of amenities in great colors - dishes, towels, etc... Most everything you'd need in a studio apartment (except no blow dryer). We found it, got in easily, and enjoyed walking up to the highest part of the property to take in the amazing 360 degree view. The WIFI was slow so streaming was out of the question. Overall, the room was small but met our needs. The bed and dining table were comfortable. Expect a clean studio with soothing colors and appointments that are pleasing to to the eye. Venetian plaster in the shower is a plus. Clearly a lot of care and thought is present through out.
Lovely, natural setting with great outdoor seating.
We loved the looks of Coyote rest, inside and out. It had great artsy, colorful touches. The location couldn't have been better, and even the dirt roads were easy to navigate, as long as we followed directions and stuck to the best ones.
Simple, well equipped, quiet
From our first impression to the last, the stay was cozy and quiet. The studio had everything we needed - we took some food with us and were able to use the plates and Utensils which were in abundant supply. You could BBQ with everything supplied. There is a an electric stove in the cupboard. We used microwave. The bed was comfortable and the coyote howling during the night soothing. We sat in the back and enjoyed the night sky. The park’s entrance is a 10 minute drive away. The road is unpaved so be prepared for a few bumps while driving. The bathroom and the kitchen rug is glued on the ground, so be sure to bring proper shoes as they were the only things that were not spick and span like everything else. And of course, be prepared to enjoy nature :)
Great value, Comfortable but could do with fresher sheets and towels
Overall it was definitely worth it for the price. The apartment was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed for a one night stay. The bed was cozy and we felt very safe. The arrival instructions were clear too, and we appreciated that there was salt and pepper in the kitchen.
The negatives: The towels smelled like they didn't dry properly and the pillow cases were stinky too. We put our t-shirts over the pillows to sleep on. Another thing that bothered us was the very slow wifi. It worked, but it meant that a 15 min YouTube video took 30 mins to watch with all the buffering, and Netflix was totally out of the question.
perfect quiet little apartment very close to the park. very clean and organized. would come back!
Private and quiet in charming Joshua Tree neighborhood
This little place was our sanctuary for 5 nights while we enjoyed Joshua Tree National Park and the surrounding area. We didn't even have to leave the neighborhood to see Joshua trees and actually we saw more wildlife within a quarter mile of the cottage than anywhere else. Hope to go back!
We are just minutes away from the Joshua Tree National Park. There is also public lands available to enjoy right in this neighborhood. Enjoy bird and wildlife watching, hiking, beauty and deep quiet.

There is a 7% San Bernardino County tax I'm required to collect and pay. Happily, this money goes back into the village of Joshua Tree in the form of beautification projects and maintenance of parks, making it a nicer place for visitors and residents alike.
