About Robert Merchasin

Robert and I have always loved Mexico -- so, no surpise when we visited San Miguel we knew immediately that this was the place we wanted to be! We had owned and developed many other properties in the US, but that did not necessarily prepare us for the construction process in Mexico. But, when all was said and done, we managed to take a small run-down residential compound in the heart of the historic center of town and make it an oasis of calm and beauty, where we love to be and where we love to greet others coming to San Miguel. Whether you are tourist or are considering moving to Mexico, we would love to have you as our guests. Move the view of the map to HYBID view to see where we are!

Robert Merchasin purchased this condo in 2006

Why Robert Merchasin chose San Miguel de Allende

San Miguel is magical - a well-deserved UNESCO World Heritage site with cobblestone streets and the occasional donkey side by side with modern restaurants and art galleries in a perfect year-round moderate climate. A Mexican friend of ours calls San Miguel '2nd world' - that is, a combination of the 3rd and 1st worlds. And that seems about right. Our house and our apartments are in the best possible location in San Miguel. Many other rental possibilities will tell you that they are some number of minutes (10, 15 sometimes 20 minues) walking distance to the Centro - but that often translates into how long it takes to get to the outskirts of the Centro. Here is why we bought where we did -- we are 1 level block from the Jardin. Period. Could hardly be closer...

What makes this condo unique

Because the weather here is mild year round, we enjoy being outdoors daily on our patios and roof terraces. Just breathing in the air, listening to the fountains and enjoying a cup of coffee outside seems to create a peaceful beginning to every day. We enjoy walking to the Jardin, sitting on the park benches and 'people-watching.' For more sophisticated pleasures, there are hot springs for swimming, 1st class restaurants to walk to, shops, museums, artisan markets or hiking in the nearby hills. Maybe Spanish classes. At the end of the day, back to the terrace to watch the sun go down over the valley -- perhaps with a glass of wine or a margarita. What could be better?

Cinco Flores is Cinco Estrellas - Best Location in SMA

  • 5 of 5

This was property was beautiful, comfortable and impeccably clean. The location could not have been any more convenient, just a half block from the main plaza as advertised. This property had everything. The kitchen was very well equipped, thick luxurious bath towels, high speed internet that really worked and a washer & dryer. All the little things that count and make your stay special. The owners, who live on the property were quite friendly and very accommodating when we asked for an extra fan due to an unusual heat wave. They were genuinely interested in making sure our stay was pleasant and that we were comfortable. The housekeeper Magali was also very pleasant and helpful, providing us with information about where to find things in San Miguel. My wife, two daughters and myself thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this property to anyone visiting San Miguel who is looking for a charming and comfortable abode with an incredibly convenient location.

Perfect location for enjoying a visit to San Miguel de Allende

  • 5 of 5

My husband, myself, and a visiting friend stayed at the Casita Lirio for three nights. We loved the comfort and convenience of this casita! It's part of Cinco Flores, a group of five casitas with one street entrance. Casita Lirio is the third casita in from the front door. There's one bedroom downstairs with access to a half bath. A full bathroom sits at the top of the stairs next to the second bedroom. The kitchen, living room, and dining area are in a spacious open area on the ground floor with a cozy loft sitting space looking out over it from the second floor. Because the weather had turned chilly, we especially appreciated the gas log fireplace in the living room. It quickly warmed up the entire casita. The beds are very comfortable and the decor throughout the casita is very pleasing in typical San Miguel style. The private rooftop terrace for enjoying the outdoors is beautifully lit at night. Located only a block and a half from the Jardin, Casita Lirio gave us the perfect base to explore the town on foot. Restaurants, shops, and sights are all nearby. Our host and the staff were great at communicating with us to make our arrival and departure easy. Note that there is no parking on the premises, so if you arrive by car, you'll need to drop off luggage and take the car to a nearby parking lot.

Fabulous location and amenities!

  • 5 of 5

I booked Casita Rosa, one of five apartments in the Cinco Flores group, for the month of July, 2016. I was not disappointed! Great location half-way between the park and the main square, beautifully decorated and furnished, and pet-friendly! The terrace is to die for, and there is a washer/dryer for your use! I have no hesitation to recommend this lovely apartment.

Felt like home, only better

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I went to San Miguel de Allende for a week away from home. There is much to love in this inn. The owners are fun to talk with and the staff is the best. Magali even gave me a Mexican cooking lesson. It is more of a residence than a hotel, so think accordingly. Bring a bit of soap, shampoo and coffee. Then go visit the wonderful nearby stores for supplies. There is a joke that you say you are here for a week or so, but the joke is "That's what you think!" You really don't want to go home. The location is very central to El Jardin. With lots of restaurants and, of course, shopping! Walking around town is lovely and the people are really nice.

Owner's Response: The very kind and gracious couple that left this review seemed to have a wonderful visit at CincoFlores, despite the fact that they suffered from a minor mix-up in our housekeeping procedures. It is true that Cinco Flores is not a hotel; our property is a group of individual casitas (similar to condos), with separate entrances and beautiful private terraces with gorgeous gardens. We don't have 24-hour staff nor do we provide things like gift packs of personal care products. However, we do provide both hand and dish soaps, hair dryers and coffee, creamer and sugar for your first morning. We have two full time staff during the days, so there is ample support; and a bilingual off-site management company to assist promptly in the unlikely event of problems our staff cannot manage. All of our casitas may be seen if you google for "CincoFlores San Miguel de Allende." Finally, for people with special needs (i.e. trouble with stairs, help in arranging activities) we are always ready to help. .

July Jewel

  • 5 of 5

We spent the last two weeks of July in this beautiful oasis! The location is close to everything. We felt very safe both day and night. Our casita was the perfect size with a wonderful patio on top for afternoon siestas! I would highly recommend this location for all who want to enjoy San Miguel!
