Enjoy your stay in beautiful Carmel Valley. The area has lots of sunshine year-round and is a great escape from the fog that can linger near the coast yet gives one easy access to all the coastal towns which are within approximately 30 minutes driving distance.
The location is very peaceful and great for relaxing after a busy day of sightseeing, shopping, hiking, wine-tasting and eating out at some excellent restaurants which are within a mile from this beautiful home.
Having a glass of wine and gazing at the stars from an awesome rooftop terrace with an outdoor fireplace will create a memorable experience for you and your loved ones.
"Perfect Winter Respite"
From the initial exchange of emails, to the warm and personal greeting by you, to the magic of the house and the location, excellent nearby restaurants and the perfect weather, all expectations were exceeded. Enjoying a blazing fire in the Kiva fireplace on the deck with the moon coming up from behind the hill in total privacy only added to magic. It is hard to leave and return to cold and wet Seattle. Thank you so much!
We selected this charming property for our family's "get out of town" Thanksgiving celebration, and were extremely satisfied! The house is spacious, peaceful, enchanting, and comfortable. We successfully prepared an elaborate non-traditional Thanksgiving meal in the very functional kitchen, and enjoyed a glass of wine and amazing views of the Carmel Valley from the rooftop patio. Susan was a very friendly and flexible host, and met us when we arrived at the house for a detailed tour.
Two minor cautions about this property:
1) The house is built into the side of a very steep hill, and has a *lot* of steps: especially from the carport to the front door. There are four levels in the house (entryway, living/master, kitchen, bedrooms) with steps in between. If you have to make multiple trips to unload your car, prepare to be winded!
2) The house was built in the 1970s, and has a somewhat worn/lived-in feel. For us, this did not detract from the charm and beauty of the house, but you should not expect unblemished surfaces and flawless details.
Overall, we found this to be an excellent choice for a special getaway, and have already begun discussing when to return!
The house was beautiful, and the view stunning! And we loved every moment being there. We didn't want to leave once Sunday rolled around.. For any birders out there, we did find a white-throated sparrow in the yard! A great way to end a fun-filled wedding weekend in Carmel Valley!
Thank you for letting us stay in your amazing house and great hospitality!
This cute place is tucked in, just far enough off the main road to be quiet and private, but with easy access to the main road to easily get where you need to go. The master bedroom is on a separate floor than the other bedrooms, so it makes sharing with another couple convenient, with privacy for each. Beautiful views out the living room, bedrooms, and porches. Soft beds with lovely linens. The owner was friendly, prompt, and courteous. We would stay there again.
The owner was very gracious to meet us upon arrival and give an overall tour. This rental was a bit more expensive for the quality compared to other home rentals we have enjoyed, but it is unique and well equipped. It has a lot of stairs and floor levels, but nice views to go with them. The highlights are the romantic master bed/bath with gas fireplace (thought the bed is a bit sagging), and the rooftop patio for sunning and amazing stargazing. The patio has a beautiful fireplace but the surrounding hills are in such severe drought, we did not dare use it.
My wife and I were back here for the second successive year and enjoyed it just as much as the first time. The house is very comfortable and well furnished but, for us, sitting out on the upper deck with its lovely outlook over the valley in the late afternoon and into the evening in front of the outdoor fireplace was the crowning glory. That will remain in our memories for a long, long time. Susan is a joy to deal with and came to the house when we arrived to make sure that everything was in order. Elderly visitors might find the steps up to the house, as well as the multi-level interior a bit challenging. Other than that, though, this rental property is highly recommended.
