About the property

Cottage, 3 Bedrooms 2 full Baths, (Sleeps 6-7)

The 'Lobsterman's Catch' cottage is a 3 bedroom cottage resting in a tiny fisherman's village on Orrs Island, one of the three islands located in beautiful East Harpswell, Maine.

The cottage is tastefully decorated with a 'lobstah' theme throughout. Lots and lots of Maine charm.

The cottage has a large kitchen open to the dinner table that sits 6. Stools line up the large kitchen island. Included is a separate breakfast area that sits 4. Total seating of up to 14 guest, perfect for a dinner party. Outside grilling is fun on the super large deck with views of the cove. There is a large BBQ grill, and grilling tools for your convenience. Cottage is fully stocked with guest towels, and all the pots and pans needed for a lobstah dinner.

Accommodations include three good size bedrooms. Two bedrooms with queen size beds and third bedroom has two twin beds ( 1 trundle) for a total of 7 guest. All bedrooms are beautifully decorated.

The cottage has a lower circular driveway that fits up to 4 cars. There is also a convenient driveway to the side of the cottage that makes it easy to unload luggage and groceries.

The cottage is yards away from Lowell's Cove, where you can swim, explore, and enjoy the beauty of what Maine has to offer. Tote your canoe or kayaks down to the cove or just sit and relax on the front porch swing that over looks the cove. Scenic Lowell's Cove has charming little fish houses and has an open view to the ocean. Large yard, great for kids and pets to run around and play.

You can also visit the many landmarks which include, The Cribstone Bridge, The Giant Staircase, and Lands End Gift Shop. It is also within a short driving distance to other attractions such as L.L Bean, Bowdoine College, Popham Beach and Portland, Maine.

The 'Lobsterman's catch is family owned. Our commitment to your enjoyable stay is second to none. Family and friends are close by for your every need.

Thank You.

My family and I ( six in total along with our rather large dog and my daughter's boyfreind for a portion of our stay) were able to rent the home last minute. Best thing that could of happened. Orr's Island was a paradise. Quiet and peaceful. We kayaked every day to get morning coffee and ice tea about a half hour away. Swam every day accross the street and around the corner at the little beach. Jumped off the dock at high tide. Took George (our dog) for long walks at nearby trails along the water. Had a lobster bake for seven and had plenty of room in the dining room. Well equipped kitchen as well. Portland was about a half an hour drive and we made the trip for a nice night out. Brunswick is about fifteen to twenty minutes away (Bowdoin College town) nice restaurants etc. All in all a great vacation. Just what the doctor ordered.

Lovely house, convenient location

  • 4 of 5

We had a great stay at the Lobsterman's Catch. The house felt roomy for our family of five plus pug. It was immaculate and comfortable, with a huge, well-stocked kitchen and dining room. The porch was a great spot to hang out and eat dinner. It was nice that there were gates to keep our pug on the porch. Every morning I would walk down to the little cove or across the street to Houghton Graves Park, a beautiful inlet. At high tide we swam at the cove or at the park on a tiny, rocky beach. During the day we kayaked with rentals from H2Outfitters, hiked at Giant Steps and Devil's Back, visited Freeport, and ate at Cook's (twice), Giant Steps Seafood Grill (great pancakes!), and had a picnic one day. We also got lobsters already cooked and ate them on the porch. We tried to eat at Dolphin Marina but there was a 2 hour wait! We'll try to make a reservation next time. Isis was very friendly and helpful! My only comment is that there actually isn't a waterfront view, as I was expecting. The cove is only 100 yards or so away, but there are two little streets and a row of huge trees in between the house and the water. So even though we could hear and smell the ocean, you can't actually see it. The house is described as ocean front, but that's a bit of a stretch.

Owner's Response: We are so happy you had a wonderful time in Maine. Unfortunately our elderly neighbors did not have the trees and brush trimmed back this year, thus blocking the view to the cove. We will look into that early next year. Thank You for your comments.

Beautiful House, Beautiful Location

  • 5 of 5

My girlfriend and I stayed for 3 nights at the Lobsterman's Catch House and we loved it. Our dogs had a great time in the spacious and perfectly trimmed yard. The house is huge, beautifully furnished and well-stocked for anything you might need. The house, like many houses in the area, uses well-water which is rich in iron, so if you're not used to that, you should bring a jug or two of bottled water along with you. The owner has warnings clearly posted about the risk of washing clothing with iron-rich water, so we didn't have a problem. Isis, the owner, was super nice and accommodating. The house recently had a large deck built onto the side, so my girlfriend and I sat out there for hours with the dogs sipping iced tea and reading- it was really lovely. At night you can see all of the stars and hear the waves on the bay. We had a great time here and we will definitely return. We highly recommend this house for a lovely and relaxing get away.

Lovely home but some issues

  • 4 of 5

This is a very nice, comfortable and extremely well stocked house. The location is very good and Isis, the owner, was very helpful and easy to work with. The new side porch is great and we spent many an afternoon relaxing, reading, and dining out there. Our dog loved the large yard and many walks we took day and night with him and the water and restaurants are very close.

We had a few teenage friends of one of my daughters come for a few days and there was more than enough room for everyone to sleep, plus plenty of room for some to read and others to work on puzzles separately. Plenty of parking spaces and the kitchen is a dream. Overall the house is adorable and the owners really have thought of just about everything to make your vacation comfortable. But......

The issues we had were with the iron in the water - so if you are used to this it may not be a problem for you, but for us it was, especially during a two week stay. Iron in water is apparently perfectly safe, just an nuisance, but not only may blonds get a tinge of red in their hair after two weeks of showering, but we all had light but still visible patches of orange on our skin by the end of our stay, which does scrub off when you notice it. The iron smell is pretty strong so even the dark brunettes in our family rinsed our hair with fresh water after showering and due to the smell we rinsed all dishes with fresh water after hand washing. Plus as is noted in the contract, be careful when using the washing machine - we stuck to washing only dark items and still ended up with some funny colored underwear. Once again, more an issue because we were there for 2 weeks and needed to do a wash.

There are so many wonderful things about this house that we would love to come back again, but unfortunately due to the water situation (which I assume is an issue in the area in general) we wouldn't. However, if the house had a water filter or softener or something similar installed, we would return in a heartbeat. So if hard water isn't a problem for you, you'll love this house.

Owner's Response: As the owners of the Lobstermans Catch, we totally agree with the iron problem on the island. I am so glad you had a great time. A new filtration system will be installed at the end of the season. Thank you for your review. Isis and family...

Great week at the Lobster house

  • 5 of 5

The Lobster House is the perfect location for a fabulous stay on Orr's Island. My sister and brother-in-law live on Orr's Island so my family took the opportunity to visit while my nieces and their families were visiting. There were 5 of us and the house was the perfect size. Kitchen and eating space was great for us and for hosting the entire family of 17! We had one issue which was taken care of immediately when I emailed Isis. Isis was great and communicated via email prior to our visit and throughout our stay. I highly recommend the Lobster House for any one looking for a great location, comfortable accommodations and beautiful Maine sunsets.
